Yeah, I never liked the unfortunate implications of that. Just because they don't have a man in their lives, they're automatically doomed to be miserable old crones? They can't make their own happiness in life? Really? Ugh. Lame. That's one of the many, many things I disliked about AWL.

This has been a big thing for me since they got rid of rivals in general. ToTT, other than the 40 other reasons it upsets me, really made me miss rivals. After you get married, everyone seems that much lonelier. Especially Nori with her wistful narratives on whether or not if she'll ever get married. All I can do is stand there thinking nope, you never will. It was such a great element to the game to have rivals. It helped to make the bachelor/ettes seem less like yours for the choosing and more like people. Maybe you would get invited to their wedding if you're good enough friends. Dreading triggering rival events. It added more realism.

With that said, as I think about AWL it's actually a pretty real life situation as well. That's a super small town with very few options as far as potential life partners. It actually makes sense that no matter who you marry, the other two will be miserable. I still wish I could have married Flora. That's probably the only HM game where it made sense to not have rivals.
