Best looking HM/SOS of game?
I'd have to say Animal Parade. The world is gorgeous to look at while running around. One of my favorite things is how much variety you get in terms of aesthetics between the different sections of the island. I also like how they went with a very "go big or go home" mentality on a lot of things, like the upgrade from the church in ToT to the church in AP is amazing.
I love the new church grounds! They make the Flower Festival so pretty!Noeh wrote:I'd have to say Animal Parade. The world is gorgeous to look at while running around. None at all. I loved it, and that makes me sad to hear.white66 wrote:Does anyone know why exactly AP didn't sell well? And I agree, it's definitely one of the better looking HM games.Blue Rose wrote:Animal Parade was gorgeous both art style and graphics quality. Shame it bombed in sales for jaoan cause that was my favorite.
it probably didn't do well because console games in general don't do as well in japan as portable ones. from what i understand, people in japan tend to start work and school early and end late, so most do most of their gaming on the train or whatnot. not much point in shelling out money for a console you'll only have time for once or twice a week when you can get a cheaper one that you can take with you
Oh, I could probably go on and on about the looks of each game. Each one gives me such a different and usually wonderful feeling. But if I absolutely have to choose, I'd say I think I like the looks of AWL the best. It's just so rustic and peaceful with some lovely dark, lonely flavoring. Beautiful. This game might as well have been my definition of beauty when I was younger. I thought about it a lot and compared real life things to it.
Hero of Leaf Valley is gorgeous, of course, but I still have a strong fondness for the looks of Save the Homeland. It gives me a bit of an AWL feel. Not quite the same feeling, but it's satisfying.
I do adore AP for the most part but sometimes there just seems to be something... unsettling about the body proportions that I can't quite put my finger on.

AWL totally was really pretty. I really also liked the diversity of characters in that game; heights, ages, ethnicities, culture. It made it more fun to learn more about all of the characters because they were all kind of different and I never felt like any were carbon copies of eachother.Robinstar wrote:Oh, I could probably go on and on about the looks of each game. For me, it would be AWL. There's something magical about the entire game... Like being able to see the clear ocean atop Romana's mansion during a sunset, or seeing the Harvest Sprite lamps light up during the night. I also liked how the sky can change throughout the day as clouds roll in. All the sound effects tie together with the atmosphere, which makes me feel one with the nature.
Though I've never played HOLV, I saw some great screenshots and gameplay that had nice, clean graphics. I really do love the portraits and character models in that game.
