Popplio was my first choice - that goofy little clown seal is too cute. But its final evolution is a bit too ... pretty for me? I mean the design is great, but I really wanted them to keep the circus aesthetic all down the line. But I've played through all the way once with Rowlet, and this second play through I'm finishing up with Litten, so I might just choose Popplio anyway come November.
Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon
Poor bara cat isn't getting enough love, haha! I thought I'd hate him too, but his design really grew on me.

Freaking love Litten and bara cat. I laughed so hard when they revealed his final evolution
Bara cat adventtuuuuresss!
I am totally buying Ultra Sun just so I can play through the game again. I was sad we only have one save file on Sun/Moon because I wanted to play through the game again once I finished it. Now I get the chance! :D
Maybe I'll choose Rowlet this time. HE'S SO CUTE 10/10 CUTEST STARTER. But I loved Litten the first time I played soooo...

So far, this may be the first mainline pokemon game im considering skipping.
So far, nothing I've seen so far merits me buying it and it feels like they're just reselling the same product with like one or two new features. It just feels way too soon and the fact they made the sequel into a 2 parter instead of just merging it into one is just really, really « Snuggly Bunny » annoying. Esp since they did this before.
Im just primarily salty cause we didn't get much "new" Pokemon this generation, and so far they haven't shown off much new non-legendary Pokemon or even alolan versions and considering how soon it came after SM, it just feels...more cash grabby than usual. Idk.

It is. It’s less than a year after the game came out, and they’re charging you $40 for what seems to be mostly the same game.Blue Rose wrote:So far, this may be the first mainline pokemon game im considering skipping.

Back then that wasn’t good but acceptable since DLC wasn’t a thing yet. But nowadays, when the 3DS can do DLC? It’s pretty scummy since it’s basically $40 DLC (in two $40 versions at that).
And this is ignoring that GF has done B2W2, which had a completely new story in addition to even more of the extra content you could expect out of a “third version.” Those were cool, and doing another third version feels like a step backward. (I feel like there’s a lot of potential lost in not doing a sequel too)
No Alolan forms is baffling too since they were well-received last year (unless they’re still hiding them, which I guess would make sense considering how bad the marketing has been for these games). I really dislike the UBs so that’s a bummer for me :/ I think it’s pretty telling when Adhesive is the first UB design I’ve liked.
I wasn't too upset when BW2 introduced the dual sequel thing, cause it made sense and BW2 was a good sequel. But I don't care to see it repeated, especially so soon.
The game-version exclusive stuff was super neato at first and was a pretty important point in which game you wanted to get (cause you had to trade locally in order to trade and it was such a hassle); but with how easy it is to trade nowadays, that feature is so lack-luster and that it ultimately bottles down which exclusive legendaries are available in your game. And that's usually 1-2 at most.
SM is one of the first games where we see game exclusive differences in the environment, and story requires two different titles. Majority of the previous Pokemon games could've been EASILY merged into one title and just given a split off depending on certain choices (using BW as an example: do you side with Reshiram or Zekrom, for ORAS it'd require a slight change to the story, but nothing major, just something more similar to Emerald's plot but not completely).
But as interesting as the time zone difference is, you can easily override it and tweak it based on your preferences, just change the 3ds' internal clock opposite/aligned to whatever you want.
SM was great and I really enjoyed it, but it just felt really...small in comparison to like BW or ORAS in map size. It had a lot of story/interactions/new content, but ultimately it just didn't really feel 100% complete (or just needed more additional content afterwards), and the sequel appearing so soon just really...makes me sore. I get that they're probably wanting to milk the 3ds one last time and using the same resources as SM is probably more cost effective, but NOTHING in the current trailers really gives off more content besides story stuff.
I'm sure they're going to be holding off reveals for new Alolan forms until the VERY last minute, because I seriously doubt they would drop that. Considering the alternate forms thing seems to be received well. I was just hoping for some actual new Pokemon, especially aquatic ones considering the location is on a freakin' island chain and surrounded by water. There was so much they could've done with Hawaii as the location, and I feel like a lot of it was just...wasted opportunity.
The UBs are okay, they just don't feel like..."Pokemon." They're like legendaries...without the title of legendaries. And there are a LOT of them, and it doesn't help solve the past game's problems of over-clogging the dex with one-shot legendaries that everyone forgets in time.
Looking at the official site some more, there seems to be a good amount of story changes, but I can't help but feel like this is probably gonna be the superior version pair, and they should've just kept to a dlc or put it in the original game, in the first place.
I love the Pokemon series, but it's really going to have to get up in the times with the whole DLC system. I mean, they've been doing the whole "2 version milking" cash-grab for years and managed to have justified it or had the games be enjoyable/different enough that most folks were willing to tolerate it, but idk man. None of the trailers are just really doing it for me so far.

I'd probably pick a Rowlett for the starter of one of the sequels (whichever I'd choose). I chose Popplio and Litten for my SM starters and adored them. Wasn't crazy about Rowlett (although I really like their evolutions), but I like to use one of every starter if possible per gen.
I usually run though pokemon games one time to see the new pokemon and world, but if there's nothing like that to be seen I won't buy it.
The game offers three new UB in the form of a thunder cat, the poison alien baby UB's evolution and the final form of Necrozma
unfortuntely the world is the exact same they did not fix the unexploreable parts

Agreed so much Blue Rose.
But it’s a shame about the rest of the stuff in the game after looking at the leaks. It doesn’t look like the games have changed all that much from SM.
I’ll probably get it for Christmas but GF’s lack of effort here bums me out big time. I guess they don’t have to put too much effort in when these games are essentially free money anyway.
That is exciting.Celestrian wrote:Did you all see the trailer yet? I'm super hyped, especially as a shiny hunter. I see a lot of soft resets in my future. Haha

Well this is a bit disappointing.
I was looking forward to the new Pokemon game release but not so sure now.I think it would have been cool if they set it in a parallel world and added in new information about the plot.Maybe make some new changes to the story. It would have been nice if they at least added more Alohan Pokemon because they were so cool.I guess we may have to wait and see for now.
