Bachelors

Calvin - I actually love his chest hair... And the cowboy hat. Unfortunately I don't him and the PC are such a great match though, since she's a farmer and he's an adventurer.

Chase - kind of a jerk at first, but ultimately he's a sweet husband who makes gorgeous kids.

Jin - His ponytail isn't attractive... IMHO it would look better if it were lower but that's just me. His glasses sitting on the end of his nose remind me of a grouchy old librarian... Fitting because he's a snobbish icy jerk.

Julius - I think he is beautiful and is easily the sweetest husband in the game.

Toby - nice guy, but kind of bores me, and I don't like the squinty eyes..

Gill - ahh he's so gorgeous... Can be a little cold at first, but is actually incredibly sweet and caring. And the way he cares about the world, and can sense the harvest sprites presence even though he can't quite see them, makes him a perfect match for the PC I think.

Luke - He's so hot with the bandana... Mmm. His personality is sort of childish, not always ideal for a husband and dad, but he's easily the nicest, most cheerful character in the whole game, so I just love him.

Owen - Hot as heck in ToT, but in AP they shrank his muscles while keeping his enormous head... Not sure what was up with that... But I still like the red hair. Nice guy and a caring husband, not my favourite, but I like him.

Wizard - He's so deliciously exotic looking, and a super sweet guy on top of that. However, I really don't like the fact that half of his dialogue is nothing but ellipses. That gets annoying and boring to look at very quickly.

Harvest King - Yeah, sure, he's insanely hot... But he's just way too cold and aloof, and never seems to really like the PC that much. Maybe he purposely distances himself emotionally, because he's an immortal deity and the PC is a mortal woman who isn't going to be around that long. Super tragic, if you think about it... But come on, not even once could he ever say "I love you"? Sheesh. Jerk.

Bachelorettes:

Candace - Painfully shy, but super sweet and adorable at the same time. She's absolutely beautiful, too, especially with the braids.

Luna - Her hair looks like a sea creature that could eat you at any moment... And she looks like a little girl... And she's incredibly stuck up and mean. In ToT, if you tell her you like Gill she says " I'm prettier than you!" Seriously? Ugh sorry, but I hate her.

Anissa - Pretty, yes, but her personality bores me.

Renee - Even though she's basically a clone of Ellen from previous games, I still really like her. A girl who loves animals so much will always charm me. Plus her hairstyle is super pretty.

Kathy - She's a clone of Gwen from previous games... That, and the bright blonde hair plus tomboyish personality really don't appeal to me either way.

Phoebe - She's kind of cute, but I really don't like the green hair, or her hairstyle.. And her glasses bother me, they're way too big for her face. She's sweet and quirky and a great friend, but a much better match for Calvin than the PC.

Selena - She's absolutely stunning to look at, but so rude and conceited. Yeah, I know the town's festivals mean nothing to you, but come on, try to have at least a little respect and enjoy it. Ugh. Annoying.

Maya - Acts like a five year old girl and that's annoying.

Witch - Ah, so beautiful with the bright gold eyes and white hair... I love her sassy and upbeat attitude, she can be condescending and entitled, but she's never malevolent, or tries to hurt anyone, unlike witch characters from other games. Her kids are beautiful, too.

Harvest Goddess - She and the PC are a such a lovely sweet couple, even though it's a bit disappointing that she doesn't live with you, but I can deal with that because she's such an amazing woman. It's kind of awkward when she teleports into your house with a baby in her arms, but her kids are so beautiful. I love her so much!

Bachelors:

• Calvin - he sounds like matthew mcconaughey in my head
  Chase - i don't usually like character who start off being dismissive and rude, but chase is cool
  Jin - he looks like the dude from samurai champloo
  Julius - i want his winter coat
  Toby - i like him. if i ever play as a girl again i'll probably go for him
  Gill - he's a jerk
  Luke - i don't like him in tot because of the way he makes light of something the other characters are generally concerned about, but his wish in animal parade made me forgive him
  Owen - boiled eggs are easy to make
  Wizard - i like him. he likes coffee
  Harvest King - also a jerk

Bachelorettes:

• Candace - she's cute. i like her
  Luna - she's my favorite. i like her line in tot about how you smell like cow « Cow Poopoo », and her line in ap about how you're a dumbass and she has to babysit you. they're funny
  Anissa - her kids are cute
  Renee - my other favorite. she's cute
  Kathy - she's cool. i like her
  Phoebe - i like her, too, but i wish she liked more things that were easy to get
  Selena - she's really pretty but it's kind of annoying how she was so determined to 'see the world', but decided she was satisfied after getting about five feet away from her house
  Maya - i keep hearing good things about her in tot so i might go for her next time i play that, but i don't like baby talk, especially when it comes from an ostensible grown-up talking to another ostensible grown-up
  Witch - she made a comment at one point that reminded me of someone i didn't like, and my esteem for her has never fully recovered. i also don't like her shorts

oooo This looks like fun! xD For those that want the list of Bachelors and Bachelorettes, I put it in the spoiler for folks to copy paste.
Bachelors

Calvin - Chest hair. HOT. Just sayin'.

Chase - I actually never talked to Chase much. His appearance never appealed to me and he was just sort of... there.

Jin - The dude likes herb tea.

Julius - Fun character. Not one that I would marry, but he's certainly unique and he looks better in make-up than the MFC.

Toby - Sleepy. He reminds me of Brock from pokemon with the squinty eyes. Still, I liked having company when I went into town to fish off the docks and would often share my catches with both him and the cat that hung out by the light house.

Gill - Talked to him even less than Chase. He never really stood out to me. Dude's got nice threads though.

Luke - Crazy « Mr.Gourmet's hat » mother trucker. Seriously. He stands in the middle of the mines swinging an axe around without warning and when he sends you a love letter, writes a Haiku about dynamite in the top of tree on a Wednesday. Headed to the mines? Here's some advice. Duck.

All joking aside, his character is sweet and incredibly loyal but I sort of wonder how he made it to adulthood without seriously hurting himself.

Owen - Yeeeeah. I won't lie... If I had to choose one bachelor out of all of the Harvest Moon games to marry, he's it. He's hot in both ToT/AP and while the talk of drinking contests with Dale were a little worrisome, he's one of the few bachelors (aside from maybe Toby and his little brother Paolo) that would have experience with taking care of children. He's a sweet father as well. xD Love him to bits.

Thankfully, the MFC is there to choose your kids clothes so that Owen doesn't let them go out in public with neon green mittens on their hands and socked sandals on their feet. (I'm looking at you, Chloe)

Wizard - ...Ellipses...

Harvest King - The dude is SMOKING FREAKING HOT but SERIOUSLY hard to date.

Bachelorettes:

Candace - Very quiet, but she likes herb tea.

Luna - PINK.

Anissa - Also likes herb tea.

Renee - I loved the cut scenes with her and Kathy working with the horses.

Kathy - My MFC's best female friend. I liked that she was friendly and shared tea with you when you first come into town in AP. For some reason, I've always found her easy to like.

Phoebe - She's seriously cool. I love her character concept and her design. I despise how difficult it is to be friends with her.

Selena - Also another character that I found easy to be friends with. I loved the event where she got into a cat fight with Luna over the tackiness of her outfit. xD

Maya - FOOD FOOD FOOD FOOD FOOD FOOD FOOD FOOD

Witch - Poofy pantsu.

Harvest Goddess - An absolute sweetheart. If I were to ever play this game as a boy, she'd be the one that I'd go for.

About Luke's love letter - in Japanese, the first syllable of each sentence of the poem spelled out "I love you". However, it was translated a bit too literally in English, therefore the hidden meaning was completely lost.

Bachelors:

Calvin - No. I don't care for manly men, and the cowboyish/Indiana Jones look isn't my thing. And his personality is kinda blah to me a lot of the time. I don't pay attention when he talks.

Chase - I like his hair and his personality, but he kinda reminds me of Gill, so it makes choosing which is better difficult. Would like to marry.

Jin - Hot doctor with a ponytail and glasses. Yes. Not much of a personality so far, but maybe he gets more interesting after marriage. Would like to marry.

Julius - Gorgeous, fabulous visual kei baby~ I love him so much. My favorite human bachelor in the game. I can't even express how perfect I think he is. I need more guys like this. Working on marrying him in my 3rd file of AP.

Toby - Gin Ichimaru with a fishing pole. I'm not sure if that's hot or not. I'm confused.

Gill - Beautiful, but like I said, he's a bit like Chase. Would like to marry, but I'm gonna run out of saves eventually.

Luke - I like him enough. He's an amusing character with a lot of energy and good intentions. Not my type of husband, but totally my type of friend.

Owen - No. Way too manly. He works out and drinks. Can't stand that hair either. I still ship him with Kathy though. That's pretty cute.

Wizard - So... pretty... He doesn't have much to say, but that's not stopping me. Working on marrying him in file 2 of AP.

Harvest King - His lack of interest and knowledge of humans makes him somewhat awkward in a cute way. His lines get depressing though. Also so darn hot! I've married him on my 1st AP file and will do it again in NewGame+.


Bachelorettes:

Candace - No. I don't know why, but I just really don't like her. I might almost hate her and I have no explanation. It's not even a problem about her being the rival for Julius. I don't know what it is. All I know is that her hair ticks me off?

Luna - I love and adore her with all my heart. Favorite bachelorette of both games. Her fashion sense is great, with her dressing in lolita style. That hair is precious. Her jerky "I'm better than you" attitude is refreshing. She's cute with Gill, but I think she'd be perfect with Julius. Will marry her in ToT.

Anissa - She looks fine, but I tend to forget her existence.

Renee - Just a little more interesting than Anissa, but with a less interesting look. Especially when Elli also exists at the same time...

Kathy - At first, I didn't like her for her cowgirl look, but she grew on me and pretty much became my best friend. I've got a soft spot for blondes, tomboys, and horses. She's a good friend. Too bad there's not enough saves to marry my best friend.

Phoebe - Adorable. I love her look. And there's something about her that reminds me of Flora. And also of SNES Ann. Clearly not her looks, but there's something. I'd consider marrying her I had more saves.

Selena - Sure, she looks alright, but I can barely stand her sometimes. I like her on and off. Would never marry.

Maya - So annoying. My least favorite character in the entire game. Maybe the entire series. What is that hair? Ew. And who talks like that? Baby talk is horrible. Can she stop talking about food for even a moment? It puzzles me how anyone could like her. Both real people and Chase. What're you thinking, Chase?

Witch Princess - I like her more than the other Witch Princess. Don't really think she looks better, but at least she's friendly enough and doesn't require animal sacrifices (I'm looking at you, DS). She and the Goddess being different characters altogether here makes me wonder what the "classic" versions of the Wizard and Harvest King would look and act like.

Harvest Goddess - Pretty. She doesn't interest me a whole lot though. I love visiting her home. Peaceful.

Bachelors

Calvin - I'm cool with the chest hair, and he is very interesting. I just don't feel he is right for the MC

Chase - Stubborn and rude at first, but he turns out to be sweet in the end. I am a fan.

Jin - JIN!!! I love him so! I love his personality in ToT, but I feel they ruined him in AP. I like his past heartache and he is a very sweet lover.

Julius - Ok I am not a fan. I have never courted him, but I was immediately turned off by how mean he seemed to be to Candace. Sorry can't get behind it.

Toby - A sweetheart, but a bit boring for me.

Gill - I love how he really cares about the town and wants to make it better. I feel like he starts off cold, but become very affectionate over time.

Luke - Not my type sorry. He is very nice and would make a great friend, but he is far to energetic and excitable for me.

Owen - Again not a fan. I don't usually go for big macho men. Attractive, but not a personality I enjoy.

Wizard - Mu other love! So very sweet and kind. I love my Wizard and hate that he isn't in more games! ;~;

Harvest King - Hot, but kind of an « Duck Quacker », and far too difficult to date.

Bachelorettes:

Candace - My fav bachelorette! She is so sweet and kind! I love her design and think she is gorgeous!

Luna - Can't stand her. Bossy, annoying, and looks like a baby.

Anissa - Sweet, but a bit too boring. Very pretty design though.

Renee - Classic animal loving girl, but adorable and makes a great farm wife!

Kathy - Not my type, but would totally be friends with!

Phoebe - Love her! Gotta love a smart and nerdy girl! I wish she was easier to court... ;~; Always hard to find.

Selena - Ugh... VERY not my type, and I simply can't stand her. I find her rude and annoying.

Maya - Ditzy, food obsessed, and also annoying.

Witch - Cute, fun, but a bit conceited. Have never courted her, but would consider. My favorite of any witches in the series.

Harvest Goddess - Gorgeous, kind, sweet, and a perfect mate. I only wish she could live with me! ;~;

Chase - slightly more chill Gordon Ramsey whose hair reminded me of soup for whatever reason
Gill - I saw a man so beautiful that I cried? 10/10 a beautiful man who I'd marry again
Owen - I saw another man so beautiful I cried? Owen deserves more love. He's so sweet, and is a really great husband in the game. His revving up the motorcycle thing makes me laugh
Luke - my first husband. Funny guy
Toby - who?
Wizard - If I play again, I'd marry him

Boys


Calvin - Calvin feels really unique to me among HM bachelors. I was so not interested in him when the game first came out, and I'm still not a big fan but I can understand the appeal. Too bad about that weird glitch that made him unmarriagable. They fixed that later, didn't they? I might be remembering wrong. I agree he may not be the best fit for the MC, but in some ways that makes him a more interesting choice in my mind.

Chase - He's adorable. My sister and I were playing this game when it came out and I think we were both kinda jokingly possessive over our respective love interests at the time, so it's hard for me to imagine pursuing him because he was my sister's favorite. It's funny to me because I usually go for the slow-to-warm sorts in these games, so were it not for that association I'd probably be all over him, but now I probably never will.

Jin - I thought he was kind of boring when I first played the game. I don't remember much of his character arc but I think I find him more an intriguing character now because I never took the time to learn about him before. He's good looking enough, too, though not as flashy as some of the others. I like the glasses.

Luke - Luke! When I first played the game I think he was my second choice. I thought he kinda looked like Serge from Chrono Cross, so I was pretty much instantly attached to him. I still have a fondness for him though he's not so much my type anymore. He's maybe a bit too immature, but then that makes for an interesting dynamic between him and the MC so maybe someday I will marry him.

Toby - If I were to play again today, Toby would be high on my list. I love his laid-back attitude. It's been a long time since I've played but I remember feeling like there was more to him than hat I was seeing, too, and I just think his design is really cute and kind of relaxing to look at? When I think of Toby I think of sun showers and sitting under a tree by the lake, fishing for hours and... Sigh. I really want to play these games again you guys.

Julius - He's pretty cool! Admittedly I mostly just remember thinking he was rude when I first played lol
Not so much my type but I adore how many different types of people there are in ToT and AP, so I'm very much glad he's around, and I know he has a fair share of fans. I looove his hair.

Owen - I think Owen is pretty nice to look at. P: The super-buff guy isn't my usual type but there are exceptions to every rule. He seems nice and all, but I don't remember going out of my way to befriend him. I would very much like to better get to know him though if I were to play again.

Gill - ! ! ! Gill is maybe tied with Wizard for my favorite... Even though he really does dress something awful from spring through summer, come fall he is a gorgeous man on his way to make the world a better place. I love Gill a lot and his stupid tsundere attitude and his love of tomatos. I think he's adorable and I love the idea of him and the MC together. I married him in ToT and AP both, and don't regret any of it. If I were to play again I'd be tempted to marry him a third time. I love him. I'm a little embarrassed by it but I do. Also he reminds me a bit of Prince Innes from Fire Emblem Sacred Stones so bonus points there because I love him too.

Wizard - ANOTHER WONDERFUL BABY. Before I married Gill in AP, I went straight for the wizard and he's still one of my top favorite bachelors in the whole series. He's beautiful for starters, but what a fun and sweet and romantic character. I love the special wedding with him. It was so satisfying to slowly become closer with him and get to know him better, and I really enjoy the slightly more mystical candidates so he's just dfgjkldgj perfect. Wonderful and I love him. He's tied with Gill for my favorite.

Harvest King - Sooo pretty. I'm very sad that he interacts with you and your family so little post marriage, otherwise I would have pursued him by now and he'd probably be one of my favorites too. I think the idea of a romance with him is very interesting. Just come home with me you big fire mountain man.

Girls

Anissa - Very pretty! I never found her all that interesting a character though, but I didn't go out of my way to talk to her either so that's probably my fault. I really like her facial features though, she seems very mature.

Maya - She's a good friend in game, not the sort of character I typically gravitate towards though. I felt an extra responsibility to be nice to her because my sister was pursuing Chase (hahah... pursuing chase... chasing.. chase... ahem.) and she hated Maya for trying to cozy up to him lol

Renee - I really like her! She's cute and sweet, and pretty straightforward, so maybe not the most exciting but I do like her. More than anything though I just really like her with Toby. They always seemed like a sweet couple to me.

Kathy - I unfortunately never got to know Kathy all that well. The bar was rarely on my list of stops IIRC. I like her well enough, she just never left a lasting impression on me.

Candace - I love Candace. I always wanted to be her best friend, and talked to her fairly often since I was always buying clothes at her shop. She's just friggin' adorable honestly, I love her hair so much.

Luna - She's alright. I like her design and though she isn't always the nicest, sometimes I enjoy the variety of a few rude people in the mix with the nicer ones, so I had fun with her. I'm not into her as a marriage candidate though, just for personal preferences. She looks a bit too young to me, but most HM characters look young anyway. It doesn't bother me but not someone I would go after.

Phoebe - !!! I love phoebe's design. Before the game came out, she was the character I was most excited to meet, just by her looks. I kind of love characters with glasses and find them cute, and her green hair is so unique. I think she's pretty cool in game too, I just wish she wasn't so tough to find.

Selena - I really dig her design. I also kinda enjoyed the events revolving around her family situation and all that, so in general I find her pretty interesting.

Witch - I have started by saying this a lot but I love love love her design. She is so cute, her hair is wonderful and I love her outfit, and I like her way more than the other classic HM Witch character. AP Witch just seems nicer by comparison, or maybe just she scares me less. I just think she's really fun.

Harvest Goddess - Lovely! Probably my favorite Harvest Goddess design as she really feels like she embodies the qualities the HG has, in both personality and design. She's got such a wonderfully mysterious air about her and she's so kind and gentle... love her.



Admittedly I don't have as strong feelings about a lot of the bachelorettes as I do about the bachelors because there are just so many boys I love in this game lol
Most of the time in HM games I play a girl file first and marry my favorite boy, and then I play a file as a guy because I want to do things differently. That never happened in these games because I just loved the bachelors so much so I never got around to playing a guy file.

Animal Parade is my favorite BokuMono game... ever... I love it so much.
And Tree of Tranquility is right up there next to it. These games have some seriously wonderful characters and atmosphere and I get so many good feelings thinking about them. Sorry, this turned out to be a bit longer than I meant it to be, but once I get started with these characters its hard to stop. Now where did I put my copy...?
