I'd love to make my ideas into games but since I don't like pixel graphics, I can't take the only route I might be able to learn to do. So I'm doomed to never get to play the games I have all planned out in my head, lol. But probably a lot of us would try making our own games if we had all the skills necessary, yes/no?
I have this problem too. I don't
hate pixel graphics, but I prefer 3d (though I would choose a game with art like Stardew Valley for example over say A Hat in Time any day). I wish there was an engine for graphics like AWL, not hyper realistic but not overly simplified either. It seems like indie games tend to veer in one direction or the other, which is unfortunate for picky people like me...

Yes, that sounds like my kinda game.
Oh man! This sounds freaking amazing! It would have a sort of Battle Star Galactica feel to it, I'd think. I would really appreciate some sci-fi bokumono games. I know there's Innocent Life, but I think they wasted an opportunity to go all in with tech.
Snnrrk, I love how you corrected my 'Yee' to 'Yes'. It was intentional, not a spelling error.

Ack! I think my autocorrect did that. (I'm on a phone.)

Generic pseudo European setting with strangely Japanese undertones.

Cue awkward translations

Yee, that sounds like my kinda game.
Sounds a little like Innocent Life: A Futuristic Harvest Moon. Never played that though as I never owned a psp. Space would be cool. I think there's some guy with a kickstarter that's posted here with something like that already in development, Verdant Skies.
The nice thing about a futuristic space type HM is the crops and creatures could be anything. Just make up the wildest craziest stuff and it fits because ... space. Maybe befriend some aliens. If they are human enough maybe even romance some aliens as an option. Would be an interesting change for the setting.

Did you want to play it? If so, you can get it digitally on PS3, if you have one. I suppose it may become available in the classics section on PS4, too, but I don't think it is at this point. I may try it someday myself...haven't decided for sure.

Let's not forget the physical version for PS2.

little of what you're describing. If you haven't seen it yet, keep an eye on
Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin. I've been peeking at it over on Xseed's forum but there isn't a lot of information, yet. Sakuna is the goddess of the harvest, more or less, and I believe she has to look after the humans in her jurisdiction or something like that, which is why I thought of it. It looks just a little bit like a Rune Facator game since it also has action-RPG elements in addition to the farming/village aspects. I'm not sure what part of the game is the main focus, though...it could be more action-RPG than anything else.
I looked it up and that looks so adorable. Might not actually be able to play it, but I'm still gonna keep track of that cutie.

I would definitely do some research into IL before purchasing. I don't doubt that its a good game, but it looks VERY different from standard boku fare.

I just wish they'd follow through on the themes they're already trying to implement.
For example, they tried to set a game in the old west. Cool, try to use crops from that era, make it so you can herd cattle cowboy-style, have it be a frontier town where mining is important, make it matter that caravans are always passing by and bringing goods through the town, and let wild animals pose a threat players need to deal with.
Another example: You try to set a game on an island. Cool, go hard on making this a beachy town with a tourist vibe, where summer is a huge fanfare for all the festivals held specifically at your town, the shopping strip is lining the main pier, where it doesn't snow in winter, and add some extra features like fish farming.
Basically I'm fine as long as they do something with the themes they're taking on, instead of making all of them old pseudo-European settings with a slightly different flavor each time.

What exactly makes the games pseudo-European instead of pseudo-American? The only ones I can think of that definitely have a European vibe are GB and ToTT (possibly AWL). I'm not arguing I'm just curious.

Not enough flags or guns.
