No, I'm done with the goals and there is nothing new. But it says clothes crafting coming soon, so it seems they plan to add new things.Kikki wrote:It certainly is easy so far. I've only been playing for...less than 48 hours now, and I already have all of the stretch goals except for 4 of them done and am Level 20. Not that it isn't fun to progress quickly at first, but that seems too fast. Does a second set of goals unlock if you finish the first set?
The graphics are really clear...feels like I could reach right into the screen. Looks just like New Leaf otherwise, I'd say. I've found I'm already a bit bored of it, but it's a good mobile game...the kind you play on a bus ride to work or while waiting for an appointment or something. And I assume they'll keep introducing new things to do and expanding goals and so on.

Added everyone so far as well.

Pretty cute so far! I'm glad they went with this format instead of Happy Home Designer though. This feels like it has more potential for expansion?
Get the server bugs out of the way and then bring on the updates.

Exactly what I'm hoping for!*LaI* wrote:No, I'm done with the goals and there is nothing new. But it says clothes crafting coming soon, so it seems they plan to add new things.
I'm loving this game~ It satisfies that AC itch, that desire to collect everything, and doesn't feel like I need to sit there for hours to play it. I like that the animals rotate every 3 hours and stick around for 3. So I can check it at 9am and know that if I come back at 1pm there's new animals but I didn't miss the others.
Tbh, I wasn't really expecting a full game. I really hope there's a full game for the Switch one day, so this seems like a nice little teaser, a way to get a lot of people interested in the concept of the game (designing your living space, meeting new animals, making things, fishing, bug catching, fruit, etc) without forcing them to buy the game or putting them in an overwhelming situation.
Pros:
-It feels like Animal Crossing! I've only played HHD and NL. This games feels relaxing enough and I don't feel like if I make a mistake I'll be feeling it for days like some mobile games do.
-not P2W. I've come to expect ~fancy currency~ in most IAP games like this one, and some are really obnoxious, some aren't. I guess we'll see as time goes on. But I haven't felt a need to rush anything with tickets, forced to buy them, etc. We're really early in so we'll see.
-People clap for you when catch a fish!
-Rotating villagers. Encourages players to return later without making them feel like they need to stay in game all day. It's okay to check it two or three times a day, or less.
-Scenery changing throughout the day. I cannot wait for snow.
Cons:
-I wish there was an easier way to deal with the friends list. Surely I should be able to give them kudos without going to their campsite? Why do I need to click on their name to clear the exclamation point? Would it be possible to sort them so that the quarry and new ones are at top?
-Search function for market store. Sometimes I need oranges, but in order to see what someone's selling, I need to go to their page. Either have it listed under their name what they're selling in the master list, or allow me to search for it and show me all the oranges being sold.
-No events. I think this might just be because it's so new. Hopefully the upcoming winter holidays bring something.
Wishes:
-Bigger map later!
-More fish!
-More bugs!
-More villagers! I really need Zell, and Phoebe, and Purrl
And honestly, it feels like a great game from the start while still looking like it has a lot of room for improvement. If they handle this well, they could easily add updates (more maps, more villagers, etc) without making it feel like a game we need for the Switch.
I hope it keeps my interest in the upcoming months, and that'll really depend on new content and how it's handled.

It wasn't today, at least...I redeemed mine yesterday or maybe even on the first day...it's all blending together for me so I'm not sure exactly when. But probably no one cares exactly when anyway. It's very useful...I've needed a lot of those crafting ingredients and getting 300 points apiece for linking to your account and also linking Facebook and Twitter (I only use my FB and Twitter accounts for following gaming news anyway, nothing personal, so I don't mind linking them.) Plus you can get...I think 180 points every week if you do 100 requests in that time span.
Worth doing for me, anyway. I've already redeemed the one for cotton or whatever the fabric is six times, lol.

I had downloaded the Australia version when it was on the App Store early, but fizzled out on playing it after a few days.
It's cute, probably just something I'll check for dailies rather than actually play. There's still really not much to do and the game still feels rather ??? empty to me i suppose.
That being said though, I know Nintendo can make good mobile games so I have hopes for this one too - I absolutely adore Fire Emblem Heroes and play it for a few hours everyday.

Yeah, tbh, I'm finding it very boring. It was fun for the first day, but then the repetitiveness made it only worth playing when you have absolutely nothing else to do, like when you're waiting at the doctor's office or something. Collect fish, bugs, shells and fruit. Give them to animals who want them. Level up a few points. Repeat until heart gets filled, then friendship will level up and...well, nothing, really. Eventually you can invite them to your camp if you fill it with furniture you like, and when they come, they will just stand around looking somewhat cute (I do particularly like when they play the maracas. Butch is unbelievably cute giving you the slightly evil or suggestive look as he shakes his maracas) and occasionally ask you for some fruit/bugs/etc.
I just don't find it absorbing. It's cute, but not interesting. Good to fill time with in situations like the above-mentioned, but otherwise kind of tedious. So for me, I need more to do if I'm going continue playing. I know they're planning to do more, but right now I played through my interest in just one day.
With the actual games I lose interest after about half a year of regular playing, too, once there is little to nothing new left to do, but that's really not bad.

I understand the appeal of portability, and of being able to play on something you always have to hand, but...why does not being able to sit make this game perfect? It sounds like it should be the other way around, as I hate standing while using a tablet. (Maybe if it was teeny and I could easily hold it in one hand, such as if I was playing on phone...) If I had to stand while gaming, I'd prefer something like the PS4 that has a really nice controller for a sturdy grip even if you're moving around a bit. (I am extremely prone to dropping things. My tablet would be long gone if I tried to play it standing up.)

Oh, I see. I thought you had low leg mobility (like not very bendable due to a brace or other similiar situation) and back problems. Don't know why I thought that. For me, back (and neck) problems are exacerbated by lying down, so in that case I was judging by my own issues, which is clearly the wrong route to go with. My sister does not like using the 3DS while reclining, either, and says it makes her neck hurt, though she doesn't have any spinal issues. I always curl up when I'm trying to ease my own issues, so it's probably natural that my preferences are opposite. Well, if you get the Switch I think you'll love it...it's very nice to hold while lying down, ime.
It's great that people mostly really like Pocket Camp, it's just not for me, so far. Cute but not interesting enough to keep me coming back.
It does really make me wonder what features may cross over to AC Switch, though.
