Well if running around in bikini's didn't give the game an M rating, then making alcohol would. Nothing against mature games, but in this genre they don't sell that well.

several bokumono games have had you make alcohol (mostly wine, but tot and ap had cocktails and iirc tott had you making actual beer) and none of them have m ratings
op made a comment about half-naked cavefolk, but i seriously doubt leather bikinis were ever a thing outside of b movies and the like. there's no reason the characters can't be fully dressed

I believe RF4 is rated E10. It had wine and bikinis. Just need to keep everything covered.

True. Kind of miss those bikinis. Closest SoS comes is with the island girls.
Hmm ... I got to play RF4 again. By far my favorite of all the RF/HM/SoS games.

It's hard to find a game that compares to RF4... and those bikinis.
Though I wonder if hunting would be allowed if it was handled in a similar manner to RF? Cave people do need to eat until agriculture is developed. Could even have some animals that are able to be domesticated. That way we could cover the beginning of animal husbandry as well.

But in what game have we actually been able to slaughter animals for food? Even the games with cooking seem to side-step adding actual meat as an ingredient. I grew up on a farm/ranch so I have no issues with it, but 'in-game' taking ole Betsy the cow out to the barn to be slaughtered might be frowned upon.
Game hunting ... that might be ok I guess. Would be similar to slaying monsters in RF and them dropping items. In this case a deer would 'drop' venison.

Age of Empires and Spore had something like that. Though in Spore it left the player with a disadvantage. It was better to keep the animals for their eggs. There was no way to get more livestock when they were gone.
I was thinking strictly of item drops when it came to hunting. There's no other way to have the mechanic.

Fish aren't real animals. Obviously.

Yeah and I guess collecting bugs should count as well. Congratulate yourself.
All I know is that whenever I play a HM game ... I miss having Bacon.

I don't think any recipes take bugs though.
Yet.

It could happen. They're not bacon, but at least they're just as crunchy.

if you happen to have minecraft (and/or any of the extra launchers like FtB,Technic or ATlauncher) you could look into something called TerraFirmaCraft.
there are multiple version, across more than one level of minecraft (ie 1.7.10 and 1.12 ect) with many mods that can be used to add parts to it for things the main mod lacks (most add tech or decor or much lived and cannot play without mods)
but basicaly, the main mod of TFC is a way to turm minecraft into stone age simulator.
you have to knap flint, make flint tools and cook your own primitive clay pots at the start. there are seasons in the game, food rots and comes in many newer (none-vanilla) types such as rice, peppers and corn. animals come in male and female and you have to domesticate them thru breeding (selective) and it adds other new animals.
later on you can smelt crude metals (like they did in the bronze age, via pots and fire pits) and even later, you can hit the iron age and mess around with a complicated anvil setup (heating bars and tempering them and hitting them into shapes ect, its quite complex)
also, gravity works, so you cant just mine a trench like in vanilla because dirt that has no grass on it will shift and fall. so you need to shore up your buildings and mines with proper systems. no floating houses lol.
if you could get some players who are like minded together, you could settle on a version of MC and TFC+mods and play that, because so long as you have minecraft(java) and a pc, its all free
