Favorite House

I picked up AnWL the other day for the first time in a while and it struck me how much I like the player house. It got me thinking about the different house designs we've had over the years, with some of the games giving you full reign over the decorating while others have a fixed design.
For looks, my favorites are probably A(n)WL, and BtN because they're cozy and that's what I think of when I think "farmhouse". RFF and ToD also have nice houses with a more fantasy edge to them, I think.
For how much control you get, I liked how ANB was kind of in the middle, where you could basically decide what colors you wanted but the furniture was stationary.
The only house I really think I disliked was the castle(?) in RF4. Its so sterile looking and I don't understand why I can have extra rooms if I don't have anything to put in them? Also the pick up and drop style of decorating was really irritating since I could never get anything to line up perfectly.
Which type of house do you prefer? Was there any house you absolutely hated?

I've been playing MFoMT again and I love the lil retro graphics and having a fireplace and vase. Super cute!

Maybe I'll save enough for a Vacation House this time.
I agree with you though, A(n)WL had a cozy as heck house, I was a big fan of looking in the mirror every night too.
3oT is nice in that it has a lot of options, but some of those options are SOOO ugly to me lmao. Luckily you aren't confined to one style so that's okay!
I generally really like it when games can let me customize my house though. It's a cute touch!

I've always liked the Grand Bazaar house. It's quaint, the carpet is nice, the fireplace is gives it a nice atmosphere, and I like that the barn is directly connected to the house.

I think my favorites were the AWL and MM households. Was a fan of how they did house designs for 30T as well and I also liked your weird kind of tree house-ish design they gave you in RF3.
I did love RF4 as a whole but I'd have to agree with the house not being that great in that game. None of the other houses really like.. stand out to me honestly. I don't think there were any houses that I absolutely HATED though at least

I really like the fully upgraded house in ToTT. All of the little details are adorable! This house does have nostalgia for me, so maybe I just like it because of that.

Hmmmm... that's a tough questions, but I would have to go with the Harvest Moon 64 house. I have always loved the design of that house for some reason, and liked the changes that happened when you upgraded it and added stuff like the kitchen and bathroom.
Plus I loved the little Katori Buta that you could buy!

^ I like how the upgrades in HM64 didn't just give you a bigger box, the layout actually made sense. I love the AWL house but I wish they had done something similar, the design feels just a little bit too simple imo.

I think the house in AWL series is my favorite just for the sheer memories I have playing that game, and it being my first home in an HM game. I also loved how in naturally expanded over the course of time, and how rustic it looked.

^ My favorite thing about the A(n)WL house was that you only got decor after getting married, its like it implied your spouse moved in and was like "Um, no" and then bought a bunch of rugs.

I absolutely love ToT's magical mansion, especially the contrast between the bedroom/kitchen and the living room. RF3 had a cute tree.
I totally agree on RF4's castle. It felt more like a room than a house to me.

I liked the ToTT house for sure, it felt warm.
I also liked the SoS house, think that’s the only one we had with a second floor.

Animal Parade has a second floor.
Also, I'll chime in with my own thoughts eventually. I'm staring at them one by one first.

Oooh, tough choice... I really liked the DS/C house, particularly the Cute one, since I could swap out the wallpaper. >w> I enjoyed collecting all the furniture for it and building it as big as it could get, making the cellars, unlocking all the wallpaper...

I loved the SOS and MM houses because they had two floors and a large option for customization. Another style I grew to love, were the TOTT houses. When you finally pay one-million to upgrade the homes, they get a cute little den/living room space.
