What's up for you in 2018? (Re: games)
I have quite a few games I'm keeping an eye on in 2018. There are quite a few I don't know enough about yet to say I definitely want them...but when I added up everything I want to keep on my radar, it's a pretty healthy list, this year. I'll share mine under the spoiler, but I'd like to hear what other people are waiting for or keeping a watch on, too. It never hurts to add even more games to my watch-list, after all.
And there it all is...everything I know of so far that I want to keep track of this coming year. You guys anticipating anything or still looking for more info on something that sounds interesting?

I only have a Switch now and it's going super strong into next year. There's quite a few titles i'm looking forward to next year.
And the Samurai Warriors: Spirit of Sanada Switch port. I really wana play that game but the import cost is $$$ + I'm not confident enough with my Japanese to play it well enough. Namco is having an event tomorrow where 5 Switch games are to be announced for 2018, so i'm sure my list will add a few titles by tomorrow evening.

Is the Atelier Series any good? I've never played any of the older games, but this new one looks super cool.Bluie wrote:I only have a Switch now and it's going super strong into next year. There's quite a few titles i'm looking forward to next year.

The short answer is yes, they're good games, but they don't appeal to everyone. It's one of my favourite series because they're like slice of life RPGs focused on characters and the world they live in instead of the standard 'my parents are dead and I must save the world' trope.KDucky11 wrote:Is the Atelier Series any good? Cyberpunk 2077 (probably gonna be more in 2019-20 but a gal can hope)

Man, you put Omori on your list. I'm convinced that game is in eternal development hell. I almost helped kickstart it just for a 3DS version. I'll be honest; i'll be surprised if it actually comes out next year. I want to play it and it'll be added to my 'games to play when I eventually get a PC', but it's kinda a bummer to watch yet another Kickstarter game be in this situation.
Well, at least it's not Project Phoenix.

I hear that the original title of Atelier Lydie & Suelle was Atelier Lydie & Soeur. 'Soeur' is the French word for 'sister', and those two do seem to be sisters according to the info...so I'm not sure why they changed it. Unless they wanted the sister to have an equal standing with Lydie rather than seeming like an add-on? I guess that is fairly probably though I know little of the game, at this point. Or did they not mean for 'Soeur' to mean sister in this case?
I have 2 Atelier games (I think. I know I have Rorona +) but I have yet to play them more than half an hour or so. I always keep my eye on them, though, because they look like if I played one long enough to understand what I was doing (I felt confused and like I was doing everything wrong the first time I played, which made me stop playing pretty quickly in favour of other games.) they'd be my cup of tea.
There's a good bunch of games here I haven't heard of at all. More to look up
I hope the game you guys are looking forward to does not get delayed again. Ni No Kuni II has been delayed again. I don't really mind since I have a rather weighty backlog, but for people who were expecting to have it in July, it must be frustrating.

Radiant Historia will most likely be a day 1 buy for me.
I hope they'll release the old portrait DLC over here though.
(Don't really like the style of the new portraits, old ones were pretty.)
Not really up to date on other games, but I'll probably buy the new ps vita otome games and any fire emblem/animal crossing/farming game that may be released.

We've got a rich year for farm/life sims, as long as they turn out to be good. I mean, we don't know for sure when Bokumono Switch will come out but it doesn't seem unlikely that it will be released in Japan in 2018, since I've read that the Switch is easy to develop games for. Hopefully we'll start hearing dribbles about it in January or February in Japanese gaming magazines and on the bokumono.com site and so on. Gotta say, I twitch a bit if I start thinking about what the graphics will be like in a Switch Bokumono game, wondering if they will try to stick to the same style or if it will change a lot, especially given that it's a single-screen, now.
But other than that, we've got Re: Legend, My Time at Portia, Sakuna, Ooblets, Mineko's Night Market, and Wytchwood coming out, all already announced for 2018. And Ni No Kuni II has a kingdom-building system in it that is supposed to be great. And I think the Atelier games fit somewhere within the genre, too. Sort of. They're not all of them specifically farming games, but I like almost all of that life-and-town-building simulation stuff as long as they give me enough choices and interactions that I like. It's regrettable for me that three of those will, of the systems I have, only come to PC, but I like that they exist even if I can't/won't play them because it means the type of game I like is getting more popular and is likely to grow and give me more choice.
Don't know if I'll actually buy Radiant Historia or Legend of Mana but I've got my eye on them for now.
Only a handful of the games on my list are ones I definitely intend to buy. My tastes are so narrow that it's hard to make a decision before the game comes out unless I'm already familiar with the series.

Verdant Skies is another farms sim (futuristic, on PC) that's supposed to come out in early 2018.Kikki wrote:We've got a rich year for farm/life sims, as long as they turn out to be good. I still don't have a switch and have yet to feel like I need one. I may wait until the next gen of it comes out, though I still just want a handheld, not a console system. The fact the Switch is both is actually a big negative to me. But still a few PC and 3DS games coming in.
I honestly don't think that far ahead and I have a HUGE backlog, so I plan to dive into some of the games that I haven't been able to play yet. I am supposed to be getting a Nintendo card (that's what I asked for) for Christmas in which I plan to buy Xenoblade 2 with. I also backed Re:Legend so it would be great to see that actually get released in 2018 but I am okay with waiting however long it takes for them to ensure it has no errors. Played the demo for Octopath Traveler and fell in love with it so would enjoy more information on an official name and time frame for official release.
I am all about the switch right now so I'd love to see more games get announced and released for it! I bought a bigger memory card too so that I can have most of my library with immediate digital access. :}
Because of my obsessive/impatient tendencies, I am trying not to look too forward to any game until I know that it has a release date that is within reach. When I get really into something I try to research it until I get my hands on it but it is a lot easier to do that when the wait doesn't feel like forever.
I see a LOT of games I want on people's posts!
