Speaking as someone who played with a controller plugged into my laptop, I never had to go back to the keyboard for any reason.

Thank you everyone for your opinions, advice, help, and support. I played my Nintendo Switch for the first time today. I decided to get Stardew Valley for the Nintendo Switch. I'll update once I get the game.

I played the game up to Day 7 of Spring Year . I found the Wizard's house (the tower) once. But I need help finding it again. Where is it?

On your farm, head south near Marnies Ranch but instead of towards her go to your left and head a little south and some more left of the pond.

Remember you also have a map in the menu. It's not like super descriptive, but it should be at least give an idea of where's what.

Where do you find coal? I found it before, but I forgot.
What do you do with the plush bunny you buy at the egg festival? Is it merely decoration? Or do you give it to someone?
How do you win the egg festival? I lost.
What do the male marriageable candidates like? I'm thinking about going after Alex if he's a marriage candidate. I'm still a little confused on this part as it seems everyone has a heart/circle by their name.
How do you access the forest the wizard was talking about?
What's a good way to get down the first five levels in the mine? Are the stairs/ladders in random spots each time?
Edit: I saw one cutscene of a villager. How do you unlock more cutscenes?
My progress:
Spring Day 15 Year 1
Dog: Patch
Scarecrow: 1
Furnace: 1
Growing about: 30-40 crops
Cleared about 1/8 of my farm or so, just enough to grow lots of crops.
Community center: Finished 1 bundle; unlocked 3 total scrolls/books.
Museum/library: Collected 1 or 2 rewards, got up to 7-8 or so relics in there.

Coal can be found in rocks. Just go on a rock breaking spree, you'll find some!
The bunny is just a decoration. You can put it in your house, or store it in a chest. I like saving it for after I have kids and sticking it in their room. XD
The egg festival is all about learning where eggs are hiding, and getting at least nine. The prize is a straw hat, which is cute, but never changes, so you can win one year, and you never have to win again.
Everyone has a circle, yes, because you can raise affection with everyone, even if you can't marry them all XD
The secret woods is behind the Wizard's tower, and you need an Iron axe (I think, it's been a WHILE), to get past the hardwood stump. It's a nice place, but watch out for the slimes!
The stairs are indeed random. Bring food if you want to dig for hours, and remember your character will pass out at 2am. There's no worse place to pass out in this game than the mines, holy hell.

FYI, the reason you're probably confused is that the game doesn't lock out romance candidates based on gender. You can view friendship events up to a certain point and then you can give them some kind of item (a bouquet I think?) to show that you're interested in dating/romance and can see further events. You can give bouquets to multiple people with no penalty.
Some days are better than others to go mining/breaking rocks/etc. On the TV, there is a channel that talks about how the spirits are feeling that day, you want to aim for days that they're feelings happy/generous cause that increases you're luck for good stuff, including more stuff like coal etc.
Also, be very careful in the mines. If you get beaten up in the mines by monsters, you'll pass out and lose a bunch of you're stuff and at that point it's arguably better to just restart the day. You can't save before going in the mine so it's generally in you're best interest to reserve a whole day for mining and avoid doing other things and just prepare for it in advance. I'd recommend rain days so you don't have to spend energy/time watering crops.
General Recommended Gifts Based on Ease:
Alex: Egg or Parsnips/vegetables you can find in the "Universal Likes" section on the Wiki
Elliott: Universal Like flowers (ex: tulips) imo are the easiest. If you get a duck, he likes duck feather. He also likes Pomegranate.
Harvey: COFFEE. Coffee beans in general are a great investment, btw.
Sam: Joja Cola is the easiest. You find it via Fishing or Vending Machines. If you manage to find any, Tigerseye (mine) and Cactus Fruit (desert, once you repair the bus) are great/easy super gifts.
Sebastian: Frozen Tear (frozen level in the mines) and Sashimi (Fish + kitchen) are easy super gifts. Give him a Crystal (mines) if you can't find any of those.
Shane: Beer (Saloon) for non-summer season and Hot Pepper during the summer.
Abigail: Amethyst and Pumpkin.
Haley: Sunflower and Coconut (in the desert once you repair the bus).
Leah: Salad (Saloon) for super gift or Daffodil/Dandelion for an easy like gift.
Maru: Cauliflower and Strawberry are the easiest.
Penny: Melon, Poppy, and Emerald.
Emily: Amethyst, Aquamarine, Topaz, Emerald, and Wool.
Festivals help out a lot and talking to folks every day does help (albeit a tiny bit). Don't neglect the villager's either as you'll be needing FP with them for certain tasks and they often give you recipes once you befriend them.
For Alex's grandparents, the easiest I remember for them is that his grandma loves Tulips and his grandfather loves Leeks. The Mayor loves Hot Pepper. Pam loves Beer.

I know how to get and where to find the Mayor's shorts. But for Pam's pale ale, how long until I get a keg because I've been storing up hops.
Also, how do you get to level 15 in the mines? The green mist keeps on getting me. Any strategies you use to beat the green mist? I've only miraculously survived the green mist once...only for it to get me on the very next level. I noticed the green mist causes a lot of the buzzy insects to swarm and attack me and it turned a green slime blue. I have the leather boots equipped along with a wooden sword (I think) and a topaz and the other ring you all buy it at the Adventurer's guild in the beginning sans the leather boots.
How do I activate Alex's third heart event? I have him at five (5) hearts.

The keg you can be given one after you complete the artisans bundle OR you can get the recipe and craft it yourself once you reach farming 8.
For the green mist/swarms, tbh its just a matter of survival + healing enough + good timing of attacks. Better equipment/higher combat levels can help you, but tbh a lot of it early on its probably better to just craft stairs to the mine and bring them with you so you can just immediately go down the next level asap. Especially when you get into the green rooms/monster dens or whatever, its better to just skip it and maybe come back later if you really want to.
Check your crafting section and look for stairs. Should be there.

As far as the bug swarm goes, sometimes you just have to power through. It ends after a minute or two, and you CAN still crack open rocks as needed. If you escape to the next floor, it hecks off. >3 Also, if you think the bugs are bad, wait until you reach the BATS. Cheese and crackers....
