i'm considering buying fantasy life because alot of people online reccomends it for the reason that it has so much to do. I wanted to know an in-depth review of the game for those who had played it. I want to buy this game hoping that i wont easily get bored when olaying but in still hesitant so i wanted more feedbacks.

what exactly do you do?
what is its plot?
what are the goals?
is it similar too story of seasons/harvest moon?
1-10, what would you rate it?

Not really sure why you're looking for a super in depth review of a not particularly deep game. It's very simple; You choose a life and follow it's quest path along with the overarching story. It has a lot of customization and is very grind heavy. It's only similarities to HM would be that it's partially a simulation game, but there's no marriage and no farming.

Well I really love Fantasy Life! It has that classic Level 5 charm and everything is just really charming :)

1) It's kinda like a single player mmo. There are 12 classes: 4 combat (Paladin, Mercenary, Archer, Mage) 3 gathering classes (Woodcutter, Miner, Angler) and 5 crafting classes (Tailor, Blacksmith, Carpenter, Cook, Alchemist) You can choose any class and switch between them at any non story time.

2) Without giving away spoilers, the plot is that the sky is falling! More specifically mysterious crystals are falling that take over and turn hostile any monster they're near. The king of your kingdom tasks you with retrieving the other 3 sacred treasures from the other kingdoms. Unfortunately the other kingdoms have their own troubles to deal with that you and your butterfly friend must help solve.

The charm of the game shines more in the characters than the main plot itself. There's also not a whole lot of combat in the plot.

3) Each class has ranks you can earn which unlocks new moves/attacks, crafting recipes, tasks, and companion NPCs. This is where the grinding comes in. Since more of the classes are interconnected, if you get bored of grinding one class you can jump to another. There's a cycle of fighting then crafting to fight then fighting so that you can craft if that makes sense.

4) Not really. If anything it's closer to RF. As Bluie said there is no farming or marriage.

5) I'd give it an 8. I love the charm and characters to death but it is a pretty grindy game. However there was only really one time I recall the grind being really painful which was when an area was blocked off by a mini boss that I could only do a sliver of damage to, but to craft better gear I needed the resources behind him.

I would consider getting the DLC. It adds a lot of new character customizations, a whole new land, continues the main story, etc. One of the few DLC I felt was worth the money.

DLC is really good in this game and it doesn't take up a lot of space on your 3DS. It expands the length of the game without making it seem tedious, and as stated it unlocks more things in the main land, specifically with your mentors. And if I remember correctly it's only about a 1.99 or something pretty cheap for DLC nowadays.

I haven't bought the DLC so I'm definitely not saying it's not worth it, but it's $12.69 currently here in Canada. So I'm guessing in the US it's $9-$10?

But I'd definitely say the game regardless is worth playing. Just has a lot of charm and it's something unique, which to me is always worth a try! I enjoyed it a lot but did find it a bit tedious nearing the end, which made me decide against buying the DLC. It may be something I pick up though if I ever get back into the game and want to continue on with my old file. Anyways, hope you enjoy it!

I remember the DLC being a little more expensive, too, but it's a big addition, not some sad little addition of a new costume and a handful of sidequests tacked on or anything like that. You'll be able to increase every one of the 12 'lifes' to another level, a new region, a new house available...large stuff. You can also have new pets if you have the DLC...it adds...I think birds and dragons. I think the price is $8 in the US, though I'm not sure since I'm in Canada.

It basically just gives you more of the game as a whole, so if you're really enjoying playing it after reaching the end, the DLC is very worthwhile. If you were satisfied to stop at the end, then the DLC is kind of pointless. Though I may be stating the obvious, there. :)

I think when I got the DLC when the game first came out it was $10 US. I had to debate it a lot, but in the end I am so glad I added it. Many more hours of game play.

unfortunately, i live somewhere in southeast asia and i find online purchases from the US complicated since i'll have to convert my peso into US dollars. I guess i won't be buying the dlc, but hopefully someday i can.
