And there's a sudden surge of indie fishing RPGs, thanks to the success of a game named Cape Moonmist.
I'm in the wrong timeline.

It's really fun and it can get super intense. Catching a giant legendary fish and using the call bell to double the winnings is quite the satisfactory experience!

If you do get it, my biggest tip is to buy the hints from the store. At first they seem like useless trivia, but they're how the game progresses the "story".

Eventually some of the tips will things like "x fish lives near y place", and that unlocks the fish. Some are also personal messages from the shop girl.

Anyway I don't want to detail the thread hehehe :shifty:

I like to do everything but I always seem to gravitate the most to crops (and hoarding...lol).

Totally sounds like a fishing game is needed.

There's also the sister series to Harvest Moon. Legend of the River King. Or just River King. Depends. They're not very well known and most of them were never even published outside of Japan, but a few of them were and they're not bad. You can definitely see the that they're related to Harvest Moon when you look at them. There's also some with a different name that are about the ocean instead, but I don't recall any of them getting out of Japan.
I thank both of you for your input as I was thinking earlier today actually that a more in-depth fishing experience would be too hard to implement. I will check out more into the wonderful world of Natsume, and fishing games.
You're welcome. But actually, for the River King series, it's the wonderful world of Pack-in-Video/Victor Interactive/Marvelous. Just like with Bokujō Monogatari, Natsume was just a publisher. But of course Natsume's name will be plastered all over anything they only published.
And you're totally right about the Ducks. They don't even lay eggs. Only having them exist on your farm will give the chance that a chicken egg will hatch into a duck. So for the most part, I view them only as pets. Ducks can also be good ranching influence for your son.
Ducks are such a ripoff in AWL/ANWL. I don't get why they don't lay eggs. They're basically a novelty animal and are even less useful than the goat.

I could never influence my kid in any of the Wonderful Life games. I've had at least ten files but no matter what my son always goes to the default careers. So, whatever use ducks have doesn't do anything for me.

...We do need a new River King honestly. I know it's not a huge seller but it seems like a unique series. I don't like fishing or hunting games, but I love fishing in Harvest Moon, The Sims, and Animal Crossing and I love hunting in Breath of the Wild. It's when games are nothing but hunting or fishing that it gets boring. River King at least had characters and plot.

That's also why Harvest Moon, and Stardew Valley, are so fun. They're not JUST farming games. If I wanted nothing but farming I'd go play Farming Simulator.
