What type of HM player are you? (How do you make your income

I'm curious how other players, well, play the games.
I've noticed I pretty much ignore animals. It's weird because animals are why I got into the series in the first place, but as an adult I'm just too dang lazy to feed them, take them outside, put them inside, build buildings for them, etc. I'd rather focus on vegetable farming, fishing, and shipping random stuff I find around town or in the mountains. I've always hated mining in HM, so I avoid that. I could never get to the bottom of mines. I'm pretty sure the only mines I've reached the bottom of were the first mine in DS and the main mine in MM.

i usually focus on crops. the animals are cute, but it's a lot easier to manage a lot of crops than it is to manage a bunch of animals. the only real exception is ds cute, where i get most of my money selling jewelry and tea leaves to van

I tend to focus on animals and do bare minimum for crops. In the last SoS game, I did a fairly equal amount of both, but I still worked on animals first and foremost. Other than on the farm stuff, I tend to get into the habit of foraging when you first start the game and need money and I find it hard for me to break out of that. I also like to fish more than mine or anything else

I like keeping a healthy amount of crops growing, regardless of if they're the most profitable option available or not.

It depends on the game.
AWL my money maker was cows. I would only plant things to cook food or influence my son
FoMT and MM I'd make more money growing crops but animals were still kept as pets and for festivals.
AP I would make a lot of money mining white and yellow wonderfuls and processing them into gems. Eventually all the mining and money I'd make would allow me to upgrade my watering can and buy more fields so I'd make more money farming with less energy spent.
SoS:ToT switched it back to animals mainly since they upped the productivity one animal could have up to 20 units. I was a cheese monger millionaire with only 4 lactating animals.

Oh in AWL tree seeds were my main source of income.
Everything else was usually secondary, for the ingredients or just because growing only trees would be boring.

Mining, a lot of mining. I like mining. Umm, in games where that isn't really an option... Probably animals; I also like cute things.

Crops for the biggest part. You can grow a lot of them for good money.
In trio of towns I went with animals instead since their materials were needed for outfits and the crop level system confused me at first.

Foraging/Fishing/Mining/Cooking.
I find myself avoiding crops or animals if there's easier money making that doesn't need to be fussed over. I'll usually have one row of crops or one chicken just because, but they're clearly not the things making me money.

I try to start out with foraging for my money source. Try to limit my amount of crops early on (doesn't always happen) so that I have time to complete "other" things in the game. Then gradually grow the amount of crops as I advance. As far as animals, its a love/hate relationship. I love them all, but normally once my barns are full and crops are growing... I get so tired of taking care of that many animals. For ANB, the MP really helps me take care of the obscene amount of animals I have. However, if I didn't have MP available I think I would have cut out my animals by now.

In most older games, I try do pretty much everything available as much as possible each day and ship whatever I can. Tried to keep that all balanced. Kept my day busy. This is true for GBC/2/3, FoMT, DS Cute, SI, GrB, ToTT, StH, MM, and AP.
But in ANB, SoS, and 3oT, though I still do everything, I make my money mostly with milk and eggs. Crops, wool, and everything else gets hoarded until I clear out my storage to make more room. I still hoard some eggs and milk too, but I get so much each day that I still have plenty to ship every day.
I did a bit of hoarding in the A(n)WL games as well.
I kinda do both of these thing in the Rune Factory games. I'm kinda inconsistent there.

I also prefer to grow as many crops as possible and make most of my money from that. I try to grow a bit of everything, sell a lot, and hoard a certain amount of every crop for recipes, events etc. Mining is also pretty sweet whenever that is an option.
As for animals, I do keep them for their products ofc, but only in somewhat small numbers. As others have mentioned, having too many animals can be a pain

I'm pretty much the complete opposite of Ghoul. I prefer mining to fishing and farming to animals in most cases. Depending on the game, I switch to the opposite way

Really depends.
Off the top of my head:
AWL: Despite crops not being worth « Puppy Doodoo » I'd loved growing them along with animals. Most money gen3 tree seeds though.
GBC 3: Crops as boy but started having animals before accidental save over. Girl a small but fair crop count but many animals. FORAGE Forage is easy to exploit actually...
64: Pretty even mix. FORAGE
DS/CUTE: Fishing team and yam seeds mostly, few animals and ship other crops. Chunks from mining
TLV/STV:CROPS!!!! Have animals and fish for fun, fishing is a bit more profitable in STV for a few fish.
SoS: Can't recall but I believe mostly crops. Flax?
ToTT: Mix, forage when not lazy too.
Trio: Mix of everything but hardly bother since new game+ tbh and food selling in some cases is OP
ToT: Mostly crops with some animals and mining.
RF: Crops+RPG methods mostly, RF 3 and 4 and ToD I tend to be able to make hand over fist with adventure and food items.
For the most part as far as activity each game gives me an impression what's most fun and I do that for the most part.

I tend to only forage for the first year or so when I don't have other better sources of income. I gets really boring when it becomes part of a daily routine, specially in the newer games.
