My Time At Portia

Looks like My Time At Portia just opened on STEAM as Early Access. I've kept it on my radar for a while now and am glad to see it moving. As a general rule though I don't buy EA as I want the game to be complete when I play it. Looks like it has a lot of your HM and even Fantasy Life features.

Anyone else following this one?

A bunch of us backed it on Kickstarter, myself included...there was a fairly large thread on it back when they were still raising funds...but that pretty much died a few months ago when the funds were gotten and the Kickstarter ended.

I got a console code, though, so I will not be having anything to do with Early Access. I don't like to play hours of the game in advance and then replay and replay before the final version even gets to me...I wanted to play nice and fresh on my console of choice right from the start, hopefully with all the features already added and the bugs worked out. But I won't get that until October, so...I haven't been following it other than the emails they send through Kickstarter, like the most recent one of Portia's history. :)

This probably goes without saying since I went so far as to buy an $80 console package of the game, but I'm definitely looking forward to it. Hopefully they live up to expectations; I don't really have any experience with the Pathea folks since Planet Explorers wasn't of much interest to me. What I played of the demo was fun, since I really love town/farm/garden/crafting life sim games. :)

HM and Fantasy life are my favourites. I couldn't wait any longer; I have just returned from work and purchased it on steam. I am going to be a very busy woman for the next 6 hours or so.

I thought there was another thread, but didn't find it in anything recent.

So have they targeted October for the full release? I was trying to find that. I'll just add it to my wish list for now though. I really don't want to touch it until it's done.

Yes, they gave an update today about their Early Access release and added that the console release will be in October. :)

I am legit surprised how fast/well this one is going so far. I didn't Kickstart it (I chose Re:Legend over it), but it's certainly on my radar now. I tend to not expect KickStarter games to come out when they're promised(or never coming out at all), but i'll keep my hopes up for this one.

Yeah, you know...Re: Legend looks like the shinier game with the larger amount of fan-pleasing features, and yet...it worries me more. I am not as confident in it, even though they got the major backers (not just funding but being associated with a great soundtrack guy and with Square Enix and all)...I never see any evidence of progress. I just see monthly contests on new Magnuses and nothing else. I've tried looking at the forum and at the blog and for updates but I never find any. Is it actually going anywhere?

Well, I didn't back it, so I wouldn't be out any money, but I'd still like to play it since it is a game with farming and it looks like a lot of games I love rolled into one. But right now I don't have much confidence in it. All my confidence comes from who they are allied with and none in them themselves. I wish I could find some significant updates on the game rather than continual 'pick-a-magnus' contests.

Right now, Portia feels more like a game I'll actually be able to play as a completed thing. Guess we'll see. Hopefully they both turn out great. :)

EDIT: Btw, release dates. I've noticed that when a game is slated to release in Fall 2018, that's often a pretty loose timeline. But when they say Q3 (or etc)...is that more precise? Is Q1 literally Jan through March, and Q2 April through June, and etc? Meaning a game coming out in Q3 is supposed to be out in July, August or September?

Well for Portia they specifically said 'October 2018' for console keys, so at least that much I don't have to guess at. No guarantee that it'll actually come out then though, of course. They've been keeping their deadlines pretty well so far, though.

I’ll be honest and say that I’ve backed both games and spent much more money on backing them then I should’ve  lol I just wanted all the bells and whistles that came with backing ^^’ Re:Legend was my first time backing with My Time at Portia being my second.

Anyway I emailed Pethea today and I got my early access Steam key :3
I’ve taken a long hiatus from playing the game. Honestly I don’t care about replying the beginning repeatedly whenever it has a major update because it I can personally see how much it’s changed and what still needs to be fixed.

It’s been a few months since I’ve last played it so I’m looking forward to when I finally have time to play it again.

I'm currently playing it, haven't gotten very far though due to lack of time + character customization always takes me foreveeeeer. But yeah, even though it's unfinished still I'm playing it in Chinese so I can practice my reading. :) If I can study while playing a game that makes me pretty happy.

Was it really laggy for anyone else? My computer should have been able to handle it but I'm getting a lot of lag. When it comes out I'd be getting it for the Switch but I wanted to use this as a demo to decide if I wanted it.

The demo is of a very early build with none of the improvements, and yeah, it's quite problematic for some people...it certainly was for me (and my laptop is not brand new but it isn't ancient, either). Pathea has said repeatedly that they intend for Portia to run on even low-spec computers, so that should keep improving. By the time it comes out on Switch there should be no problems left in that area, or so I'd hope. I haven't seen anyone complaining about it in more recent builds, but I'm no longer following it very closely since I can't last until October if I do that :)

Does it allow same « Chicken Hugging » relationships? I had looked at the store page for it on steam, but I didn't see anything about that.

If you look on their kickstarter page, under the FAQ, you'll see that the answer to that is 'yes'. :) If you'd like to see that for yourself, it is HERE (it's the 4th question). But if you don't want to check that link, then all it says is this: Yes, we have that in game, all the characters in the game are romance-able - except the bear, married people and children.
