We had a decent thread going for Xenoblade 2 during its initial release. Nintendo has been teasing a major update for a bit but we finally got the news as to what it adds,
and it's glorious.

You can skip core openings, a bunch of the bosses are recruitable, and you get to keep all your blades and their progress in New Game+! Plus so much more, i'm so giddy to play this again. The improvements are really going to make it so much more enjoyable for me (and I already liked it a ton on vanilla base game).
What's your most anticipated new feature? I'm happy I get to keep my blades and get some new ones! Easy mode is cool too just in case I want to breeze through everything. Also, Patroka.

Even though Xenoblade is probably my top favourite series, I am not the type who can replay a game so soon after I finished my first play...at least, not in a game where the story is always going to be the same/not change depending on choices made or etc. It'll probably be next winter before I feel any urge to pick this back up, so at the moment, the updates aren't of any interest to me, though I am glad to hear that you keep all the blades you had and don't have to go through the horrible RNG again (and that you can skip the whole core crystal bonding scene.) That they're introducing an 'easy' mode is a surprise, since the series has never had any difficulty modes, before. (And the place it was REALLY needed was in 'X'. Of all 3, XC2 was the easiest to beat, at least ime. I still hope they'll bring X to the Switch and add a bunch of little improvements like that to it.) Well, always nice to have one for when you just want to sail through the game for the story without getting bogged down with battles.
I'm glad they're doing it in theory, but because I've no interest in the game right now, I can't really dredge up any clear feelings about the update. It sounds like it's got good stuff. I'm sure I'll have stronger opinions about it when I eventually start feeling the urge to replay.
EDIT: There is now a
link to an actual English version of that article (including the images)...I had a hard time understanding some of the one linked above.

This:
2. An option has been added to skip the cutscene when awakening a Blade.
I hope this means the part where they are 'bonding' with the blade! I usually have to watch TV or something when I do my bulk of blade releases because it takes sooooo long. I have about 100 hours in this game already so I definitely won't be doing a new game plus but some of these features are still pretty exciting. I do all the side quests (that I can) before moving forward with the story so, I probably still have a good ways to go.

Well, the update has been postponed to March 2nd, they found some bugs they need to fix.
Guess I gotta go back to something else for now!

Pretty sure it does mean that.

I don't think ANYONE liked the 'resonating with a core crystal' scene and how long it was. Especially since you have to open
hundreds of crystals to be able to get all the rare blades. I didn't mind watching the whole scene when it was a rare blade that came out, but those commons, ugh...the same couple of scenes over and over...
I'm glad they did not tie that feature to NG+. It's definitely one that should be available right from the start, imo.
I'll definitely do an NG+ file. I'll want to see the story again eventually. It's like books, for me. If I liked it, I want to read it many times. And it'll be nice to start out really high level and with lots of blades and not need to be bogged down...just breeze through the story without getting frustrated by insufficient field levels or a boss battle you're not sure why you can't quite beat. I like NG+
