Hmmm.....is harvest moon going to meet its end? (ramdon comment: why do people always compare stardew to harvest moon? sure it was inspired...but it is NOT harvest moon)

Natsume will continue making their farming simulator in lieu of losing the rights to Bokujou Monogatari to Xseed. As long as it remains profitable, they will continue to make 'Harvest Moon'.
Marvelous will continue to make Bokujou Monogatari games while Xseed, their USA branch, will localize them under the Story of Seasons name. The series is highly profitable in it's county of origin so I doubt they'll stop making them any time soon.
Stardew Valley is highly similar to both old and new Bokujou Monogatari titles, thus often being compared to it. It's not 'Harvest Moon' but it's close to it.
So no, it's not going to meet it's end, not when farming simulators are in high demand.

actually stardew valley started out as a "unofficial" sequel to the snes and GB/C with added features/improvements which is why there so similar....... But as time went on it took a life of its own morphed into the saints row of farming games
if you've never played it saints row is a grand theft auto style game created by someone who wanted to fix several problems (in their opinions )in the gta series

Pretty sure he just said he was inspired by, nothing more or less tbh.
Honestly this whole topic is.. a bit uncomfortable. Fans are already pitting those games and each other against each other, and throwing Stardew in there for good measure. I'm pleasantly surprised this powder keg of a topic hasn't blown up.

It helps when a certain touchy member isn't trying to ignite said keg. I'm surprised they haven't flocked here yet.
Most of us here are able to have a civil conversation about this topic, probably because it's brought up a lot. There are still tons of people confused by the split and a lot of people are very passionate about pushing Stardew and Bokumono while absolutely shiting over Natsume's attempts at the farming sim genre. While some appreciate the direction, some also find said opinion to be toxic as everyone's tastes vary. It's not like Bokumono hasn't made some flops and it's not like Natsume's games are irredeemable. There's no be all to end all in the genre, and said genre is actively expanding.

Deathmatch in the pits at sunrise. Clubs and knives only.
Anyway I want to believe the reason this topic didn't "explode" is because the relevant parties saw it as the obvious bait it is, and decided not to bite.

Fair, just a worrier I suppose. I've been trying to find discussions about the HM games long enough to have seen what people seem to love to do. It's been... Draining I guess one could say?
Really though I think Bluie said it. Games will be made as long as there's enough demand for them. Or I suppose if they can and really want to. That's possible too I suppose, just unlikely.

LET'S GET READY FOR A DEATH BATTLEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
And yeah, bait or not, It's better to diffuse a ticking time bomb. The last thing we need on Ushi is the toxicity of the Harvest Moon reddit. Those kids need to chill.

A mere mention of Natsume's Harvest Moon ignites the downvote brigade. Heaven forbid you say you
enjoy them.
If you're not with the hate mob, you're against them, and they'll make themselves very clear on how much they hate you for your opinion. It's a mess.

That's messed up. How can you wish misfortune like that on others?
...They are good games too btw.

Probably because they didn't knew about the switch of localizers so they thought HM is still the same. I've seen people like, I got tricked!

Has anyone noticed that some fishies can't quote and others can? I wonder what decides that.

You may have misread the post. They are saying that some people hate on others for saying they like the games. It's got nothing to do with being tricked or the separation.
