I don't know if any of you are familiar with this or not, but I believe I heard somewhere that there was going to be a sequel or something. This updated version is a completely different different thing, right? Or maybe this is what they were talking about? Just curious is all. I played the original and thought it was horrendous lol

It's a separate thing. The updated game is Root Letter: Last Answer, and the sequel game is Root Letter 2.

Sorry for double-posting, but I'm making a separate post since some new information/a new release is scheduled for an entirely different game.

https://nintendosoup.com/tokyo-school-l ... IiKP0I2hcA

A limited edition Physical release is happening for the Visual novel game Tokyo School life. It's limited to 5,000 physical release copies and is priced at $40 Canadian. That said, I heard (from a review) you can beat all the visual novel in 5-12 hours (including all routes).

Also, the game is on Steam and Switch already and is usually priced at $15 US. Right now, the Golden Week Sale is happening on Steam until May 6th, and Tokyo School life is currently 60% off and is $5.99 US there.

So, unless you really enjoyed the game, or are a collector...this physical release doesn't seem worth the money. But, someone might be interested.

You don't have to double post because it's a different game announcement...it's still fine to add it into your last post as an edit :) Especially since your previous post was only made a few hours ago. We all do that often in this thread...each post is not restricted to news on a single game, so it's okay. :) But if you think what you want to do is has special circumstances that make it appropriate to break the rules (which does happen sometimes), please contact a mod first to get an okay on it. They're pretty friendly about it. They recently let us get away with reviving the On Sale thread 4 months after it died, but with a caution that next time it'd be better to follow the rules.

Oh, okay. I'm sorry. I forget that even old forums like this have different rules. Sorry.

So, Playstation will be having their second not-as-fun-as-a-Nintendo-Direct 'State of Play' in two days, on May 9th. It'll only be 10 minutes, so probably not a huge load of stuff to announce. There might be something I'm interested in in there, but I kind of doubt it. Will still watch if it's convenient at the time, though :)

Also on May 9th, Monster Hunter World is going to be getting a news broadcast, featuring the latest info from the dev team, so...probably info on the Iceborne expansion.

MAY 9 EDIT: So, we now know exactly when the E3 Nintendo Direct is to be! June 11th, at 9AM Pacific...which is noon Eastern. I'm still sad no April Direct with Reggie in, but since that never happened, I don't think we'll get any Directs at all until the big E3 show, since there's only a month between then and now. Feels like Nintendo has scaled back on the frequency of their regular NDs.

Another Edit: Surprising. The State of Play wasn't interesting...but then at the end, they actually showed the FF7 remake. Wasn't expecting it at all, tbh. Looks good, but not necessarily any further along than it did three years ago. Nice that they said there's more info to come in June, at least. The Iceborne expansion and Away and some other stuff was in there, too, but I just don't feel like reporting on it specifically, since none of it was anything I intend to play. Looked like there could easily be a bunch of very hyped people, though. I'd rather leave that to others to post about, in the circumstances.

A small update I just noticed. On Nintendo's official site, it seems they updated the release date of Little Friends:Dog & Cats to come out a day earlier (May 27th). Hopefully this is set in stone. I don't mind it coming out earlier, since I've been waiting for it for a while.

AI: The Somnium Files has been delayed to September 17th. So not quite two months longer of a wait than anticipated. I wonder if that's a production issue or a development issue...hard to tell with that time frame.

Dragon Quest Builders 2's 'modern architecture' pack is going to be streamed on May 22 to show off all the details. It looks really nice, but I have no idea if we're going to get access to any of the three DLC builder packs, so watching it might just be sadistic, lol. I don't think the modern vibe would really suit the game, but I do want all the building materials I can get my hands on, so if they did bring the DLC packs over, I'd almost definitely buy all of them.

Oh, and Harvest Moon kawaii's cats and dogs game has a 'welcome home' trailer, now. I don't actually know if that's new, though, but just in case.

I'm totally buying the FFVII remake since people have been clamoring for it ever since the PS2, but I'm NOT THRILLED ONE BIT by the fact that SE has reiterated multiple times that it will be released in multiple, full size games installments. They are SUCH asshats.

We're supposed to see more on FF7 remake 'in a month' (from May 9th, afaik) so that places it squarely around E3 time, though Sony isn't going to have their usual presence at E3 this year so I don't know how that's going. Another State of Play, I guess, which I'm assuming FF7 will be in. It looks good...but then, looks are not something Square Enix has any problem with.

I have mixed feelings about the multiple episodes. On one hand, that sounds like they want to bring in the money several games would make, based on their one game, and I kind of agree that they may just be milking a fat cash cow for every drop. But on the other hand, if each 'episode' they put out really IS a full game, then I think maybe that's fine. Don't know what the likelihood of that is, though. And on the third hand (bet y'all didn't even know I had a third hand!)...this is Squeenix we're talking about. Stretching it out into episodes feels like it'll stretch the full development time to 25 years. I should be joking or exaggerating when throwing out number like that, but..really not, lol. If they can spend 10 years on one full game and release it still not finished, who knows what'll happen with this 'episodic' thing.

So yeah, mixed feelings. If they really made the game so big that it NEEDED to be broken up, that might turn into something pretty awesome, but the chance that Square Enix could live up to expectations like that is, to me, is kind of low. I'll be keeping my eye open for whatever news they said we'll be getting in June. I'm actually pretty curious how they mean to work this, and if they're even all that close to releasing the first episode.

(EDIT: Not sure anyone on the internet could have missed it, but if anyone hasn't been following the news at all, this article is nice for having both the full video of the initial trailer of FF7 remake in 2015, plus the new one revealed just a few days ago.)

AI: The Somnium Files has gotten a small delay in NA. It's now coming out on September 17 instead of July 25th. I'd say that's a good thing because coming out so close to Fire Emblem was gonna murder it saleswise. Don't really remember what's coming out in september, but I think it'll do better there.

Aw man! It sucks that Ai: The Somnium Files got delayed to September 17th. But, I'd rather the game be ready for release instead of rushed.

Also, thank you, Kikki. I hadn't seen that trailer for Little Friends: Dogs & Cats yet.

Edit:

Snack World is coming west.

You're welcome, Harvest Moon kawaii :) Bluie should be pretty happy about Snack World.

So, here's a five minute video of AI: The Somnium Files gameplay. It has a somewhat annoying voice-over going on in it, though. And I can't post this in the Nobita/Bokumono thread myself since it's last post was by me about four days ago, which means very few people will notice it if I edit it in, but there's also a video of the farming mechanics (planting, watering, harvesting, shipping...that sort of thing). It's Japanese but it's pretty self-explanatory stuff. Somebody else post it over there, maybe?

This is really cool imo. Disaster Report 4 Plus is coming to Switch. I've always been interested in this series. The localization of the PS4 version is taking its sweet time, so maybe this has something to do with it? :D

I don't know if anybody cares about Pokemon (haha) but there's a tidbit of news going around. I figured this was a given, but maybe it wasn't? Anyway...they have confirmed that there will be trainer customization. For a second I didn't even know what that headline meant, lol. Customizing the player character. Not being all British about their custom-designed athletic shoes.

I...am probably a big fat outsider when it comes to Pokemon, lol. Also, of interest to me personally is the confirmed Japanese boxart for Ys IX: Monstrum Nox. Though tbh, I already thought this was the official cover, for some reason. I'd be more interested if this were confirmed North American artwork but since we don't even have a localization announcement, I'll have to settle for looking at the Japanese version for now.
