I own Final Fantasy Adventure for the Game Boy. Excellent game. It got remastered a couple different times for the GBA and I think even the Vita. But I'm partial to the old black and white, Game Boy cartridge from back in the day. I have no idea if it's part of the Collection of Mana release over in Japan, but it'd be cool if they added it, in its original form, to the CoM release here in NA.Bluie wrote:Hopefully this is a trademark that actually bears fruit. I've really enjoyed the Mana series from what i've played (Sword, Legend, and Children), and i'd love to play some of the entries i've been unable to (especially the third game that was never localized that's included in the Switch collection).
Guess we'll wait for E3 and see what happens, eh?
New and tentative game announcements
No need to be added, it's how the game is originally.Boggy wrote:I own Final Fantasy Adventure for the Game Boy. Excellent game. It's the first 3 games, no remakes.
^^^Awesome. I know most folks get a kick out of remasters and such, but some games are best left in their original formatting. I picked up Final Fantasy Origins out of love for the original FF and couldn't believe how many aspects of the game got butchered in the re-release. Don't get me wrong. It's neat when older games get ported to newer/current gen (especially games that are near impossible to track down), but I can't help but notice how a lot of that "retro charm" is lost when older games are "prettied up" with updated graphics and sound.
Thanks for the info!!

Grandia + Grandia II HD Remaster is 'coming soon' to the Switch as a collection, it seems. I'll have to look it up.
Never played Grandia II, but I played the first to completion on my PSP quite a few years back. It's good, has a lot of charm, but I can't see myself playing it again. I hope for the people new to the series that they fix the voice acting in this remaster, because the horrid phone-in feeling of it ruined really emotional scenes. It's probably more a thing of the times, but I can't take a game seriously when someone deadpans a line that's meant to show grief/regret.
Anywho, everyone sings the second entry's praises, so I might give it a looksee.

Grandia II was fantastic. Extremely colorful old school PS2 anime-style graphics, great characters, campy voice acting. I really loved it. The combat system is turn-based, but with a slider like you see in other games where if you smack the enemy with a delay-type attack, it pushes their icon on the bar back, so it’s slightly more interesting than your typical turn-based JRPG system. I actually own the remaster for Grandia II via Steam, so I’m curious as to what exactly will look different with this re-re-release for PC/Switch.
Raging Loop looks really interesting.Harvest Moon kawaii wrote:Raging Loop is a psychological horror visual novel coming West (to the US and Europe) in 2019.

Atelier Ryza will be out September 26th this year. It really feels like this series gets a new game every few months, but I guess it's because I follow both Japanese and English info which makes it seem like there are more releases than there are. Well, that and Nelke and Lulua came out quite close together, but Nelke is a spin-off, not a mainline title. (EDIT: Here's some more Atelier Ryza details, too.)
NEXT DAY EDIT: This isn't exactly NEWS, but it is new and game related and kind of cool. Even if you don't like Natsume, I thought this was neat. (Video showing someone making a strawberry cake to Jeanne's instructions and showing the cake in-game, too.) Just a cute idea, imo.
EDIT AGAIN: Sakuna of Rice and Ruin is going to be on Switch, as well as PS4 and PC. (O_O)

Gorgeous! Can't wait until it finally releases.

I've played both. I always preferred Grandia to Grandia II, only because the second was a lot more "JRPG-ish" and the lead character far less likable (he reminded me a bit too much of Cloud from FFVII, to be honest). And I preferred the "brighter" art style of the original, though Grandia II on the Dreamcast is a gorgeous game as well. But I know I'm in the minority on that one and I can see traditional/purist JRPG fans gravitating more towards the second.Bluie wrote:Never played Grandia II, but I played the first to completion on my PSP quite a few years back. Octopath Traveler was released on Steam today! It was a pleasant surprise for me upon opening Steam today because I wasn't aware it was going to be ported on the PC.
Ooh, that's nice footage! For the first time I can actually get a feel for what it's like to play, from running around to talking to other characters. Previous trailers just felt like they were for showing off features...this one felt more like actual gameplay. Good stuff. Thanks Bluie
