New and tentative game announcements
It was just a strongly-sourced rumour at first, but E3 has officially been cancelled, due to risk of spreading coronavirus, it seems. (I never worry about this stuff so it always seems overblown to me, but people seem mostly relieved about this, so...that's good, then.)
Of course, I only watch Nintendo's E3 stuff anyway and they do their own Direct which is independent of E3, and I'm betting they still will, and PlayStation wasn't going to be there at all again this year, and so on, so...I guess there's really not much impact on this being cancelled, for me. It's too bad to anyone who had plans to go, though! Thankfully there should be enough time for them to get full refunds if they booked hotels or flights or anything.
EDIT: Seems a good chance that the many companies that run online presentations will still do so. Limited Run Games has already confirmed that they will be.

Silksong and Bug Fables news would be fantastic. Gosh, it'd be nice to get some updates on some indies that have been radio silent recently too. Mineko's Night Market, Omori, and Picontier for me personally.
I think my unrealistic wants would be a Virgo Vs The Zodiac port and some Sky: Children of the Light news (because it's still only playable on iPhones).
Excited regardless. Maybe there will be something new and different that catches my eye.

Meowza on Twitter posted just two days ago that they're not super close to release and not going to be giving out any other release date until they're certain they can keep it, this time. So it being in the indie world presentation today is pretty unlikely.
They do say they're still working on it full time, though.

Ahhh, alrighty. I follow the Mineko's official twitter and it hasn't update since last year. I may have to follow Meowza instead as they're still active.
Would still like to see Picontier and Omori, though. They've been 'almost done' for ages now. I know that Skipmore is working on more than one game now that that's probably what's delaying Picontier, but IDK with Omori. A lot of people who kickstarted it gave up on it a few years back.

So, Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town will be released in Europe and Australia on July 10, 2020. No word on a North American release date yet.

Rather unusual situation going on with Nintendo's network going down completely on their consoles. It's unusable to everyone, not just in North America, but Japan, too, and I assume everywhere else. I would have thought each country or continent's network would be largely independent of each other, so I don't get what's going on, but within the last ten minutes Nintendo (Japan) posted that they don't yet have any timeline for when they will be able to fix it, though they have been trying to for the last 4-5 hours. (Nintendo Everything article and Nintendo Japan Twitter.)
So right now you can't play anything that requires an online connection, nor can you buy or view anything in the eshop.

Strangely, Polygon was able to play Smash online games during this outage, even though they couldn't play Tetris 99 or connect to the e-shop, so I really do not get exactly how this malfunction is structured. But then, I'm not particularly technology smart to begin with. ALSO...I checked for myself when playing Farm Together, and I can go to other people's farms via online...and my Switch's internet IS working, so it seems like it's the eshop itself that's down, somehow? Can't say I understand it.

I wonder how it works, to unlock Animal Crossing (digitally) on the Switch on the 20th. Is that just a check of the time/date in your region via the internet? If so, it'll still work. But if it requires connecting to the e-shop, and they aren't able to fix this in time...yikes. Well, no sense worrying too much in advance...I guess we'll see!
Oh boy I hope Nintendo gets things figured out soon.
There will be chaos if people can't get their games...I'd go out for a copy if I had to but...nobody really wants to do that.
(Also a lot of good a game being out 'later today' does if nobody can download it. There'll be steady work for network engineers at least.)
Not much from that indie direct, huh? Personally I'm probably most interested in Hello Games new project (Last Campfire...iirc). It feels like they've finally got their...collective head on straight as a studio (and I really like the art style).

It's funny, I normally don't see anything I care about in Indie World presentations, but this time I thought most of it looked quite good. Nothing I'm set on (except Mara, which I backed and should be getting keys for) but a whole handful of stuff I'll add to my wishlist to keep track of for once I know more. But a lot of it was colourful and/or cute, so I'm tentatively interested in a bunch of it.
I can go out for a copy of AC, too, but you can't get refunds on digital purchases, so that's not really an option for me. I've already pre-downloaded the game and I'm not sure how the unlock thing works. Not sure it really needs much of a connection for that and my Switch actually DOES connect once in a while...but only for about 10 to 15 seconds, randomly.
EDIT: Btw, if anyone missed the presentation, you can see an article that gives a blurb on every game shown HERE. Though probably soon https://indieworld.nintendo.com/ will have a full list of trailers.
