The game looks like a cross between Persona 5 and a Tales game. I'm curious.Bluie wrote:My fiance went to Pax South! He picked up some prinny plushies and played Caligula Overdose! I'm so jelly.
In actual upcoming game stuff, I was a little iffy when Dusk Diver was first teased, but now with gameplay being show; wow. It oozes style somewhere between Persona 4 and Tokyo Mirage Sessions. Combat is more like a musou game, but man, the UI and character designs are just![]()

I'm super on board now.
New and tentative game announcements
I wasn't expecting Wintertide Miracles to get a trailer, for some reason. But it did. Nelke has an opening movie now, too.
More randomly...I think I really want one of those Thors hoodies. And if I decide it's too expensive for a silly purchase, then maybe the Rean T-shirt.
EDIT: Oh hey, I was interested in The Day We Found Earth (and Rocket of Whispers) but had forgotten about it, but it's coming to Switch in April, not just digitally but physically as well.

That article is best accompanied by Pathea's full account of what happened, to get all the information. I saw some of the voice actors' posts and from my view, frankly, the problem is both that Pathea is still trying to figure out how to be professional, and so are most of the voice actors. (A bunch of them were just volunteers at the beginning, afaik.) Pathea's good at making games but they haven't seemed to grasp how to structure a large team or communicate with individuals, for some reason. I believe there are only a couple of people with Pathea who speak fluent English, which would definitely be one issue. Even their social media person is obviously sometimes struggling with how to word things.
As proof of just how crazily disorganized it all is...a bunch of the VAs WERE completely paid (I saw a handful posting to that effect, as well) it's just that SOME of them weren't. Kind of like how many people received all of their backer rewards and some others didn't. Pathea has trouble with just about every kind of communication...a lot of their emails don't get through or end up bouncing back. It's a weird situation.
I think that they've decided to use a voice acting company next time (assuming there is a next time) is for the best. Pathea is honestly not a very organized team, and having to deal with 50+ VAs separately would be a circus. (Though one of the comments on Steam is a bit ridiculous to me. They favour 'the workers' over 'a company'? The 'company' is just six or so workers who grouped together to try to make something too big for one person. And what does them being Chinese/based in China have to do with anything? Honestly, I don't understand some of the reaction to this situation at all.)

February 1st! I might not be jumping on it right away, because lacking money + want to wait for reviews, but it's nice to see it's got a date!

I'm so stoked about Wargroove omg, it's definitely a day one purchase for me (unless it turns out bad which I doubt; watched a lot of streams on it and it seems great)
For all you Tales of fans, the Tales of Festival is gonna be on June 15 and June 16! Maybe they'll finally release some actual details on their newest game.

Yeah, I reeeeeeeeeeeally want news on the new game. I don't want to hope for too much, but would it be unreasonable to hope this time they'll not just say 'yeah, we're working on a new one!' but also give us a title, maybe even on a title screen? That way we could get a glimpse of either some characters, a location, or both, in even just one screen.
Vesperia was great, but I really like the responsiveness of the battle controls in the newest games. I also kind of hope they renew their style just a little, and stop using the same clothes all the time (for example). I mean, that jacket Estelle wears is the same one Jude wears in overall style, and I've noticed that a LOT of styles are reused endlessly. I'd just like a little more totally new things mixed in, this time, even in those small things. (Not that I mind series conventions still being in...I do love the series, after all.)
Two days later EDIT: I normally wouldn't be moved to report on a what looks like a mobile game (though it's coming to Switch), especially one that's not been announced for the west, but this article started telling me about a game whose description made my eyebrows quirk so many times that I can't just pass by it. I don't know if it was suppose to be funny, but I laughed. Bu$tafellows, huh? Might have to check it out if it ever becomes available in English.

I don't know if these games have been mentioned yet.
Piczle Colors is coming out on the US Nintendo Switch e-shop on January 31, 2019. It has a demo available. The game is priced at $12.

Also releasing the same day on the Nintendo Switch is Planetarian: Reverie of a Little Planet (HD remake), a short visual novel by Key. It is available for pre-purchase and costs $10. It should be noted that the HD remake of this game on PC/Steam does not support the English language.

I doubt they've been mentioned, Harvest Moon kawaii, thanks
People very rarely mention puzzle or arcade types of games in this thread. Though speaking of that, I did see one I really want just a day or two ago...a literal puzzle game (like a jigsaw puzzle) of stained glass. I've had a lifelong infatuation of stained glass and this is all in gorgeous jewelled tones and...well I just have to have it when it comes out on February 8th. (On Switch and Xbox, that is...it's out on the 5th on PS4.)
Magnus Games also updated with the most recent information about their Backer's Alpha coming up on Feb 9th, today. A very cute and colourful game, but as someone who will NOT be involved in any backer's alpha (or any backer's anything), I don't expect to be able to play this game until at least 2020. Development seems to be going very slowly.
Lastly (I hope)...I didn't know that Dragon Quest XI for Switch would be getting extra voice acting, but this makes it look like it is? I wish I could have played but I hated the battle system so much, it's just not an option for me.
EDIT: It wasn't the last! A new game was just announced and I'm really curious about it, even though it's only set for Japan at the moment. I thought it was a VN but they're calling it an 'adventure game'. Sounds like you can play the game as a murderer or as a detective. ???

It's cute.
Not my preferred style, but still cute. I'm not really into the idea of playing on Steam, but I tried the demo and it's so simple in controls that it runs really smooth and is easy even using the keyboard (!)
The idea of building or rebuilding a town is always excessively appealing to me even against factors I don't like. I like that the main character is not trying to become someone important...they START the game (at least in the demo) as the hero of the world, having vanquished a great evil prior to the start of the game and waking up not remembering it all. It's an interesting approach. And the characters all seem to already know you! I'm talking to one guy right now who's surprised I don't remember him because we used to go on 'so many quests together!' It's kind of interesting

That looks really good. The terrain building concept reminds me of what i think Natsume was partly going for with their first HM, but the overall presentation looked too much like Minecraft and imo was kind of ugly. This looks really smooth though and i really like the art.Bluie wrote:Oh, Kiki! I've found a little (already funded) Kickstarter game that might tickle your fancy!
(it'll also be going in the 'coming soon' section of the farming thread once it finishes its funding)
Also very excited that it's done so well on the KS! It looks like it has a lot of potential, and with the s/s option definitely gonna purchase if not day 1, day 2.

I'm so excited for Yo-kai Watch 4 (and for Yo-kai Watch 3 for when it comes to the US, although I'm buying it later.) However, I've been skipping most of the game demos and promotional material for Yo-kai Watch 4, because I want to be surprised.Bluie wrote:Oh, hello Yokai Watch 4, you're looking BLOODY FANTASTIC.
Nintendo, don't take 3 freaking years to localize this one, holy.
But I agree, the initial time it took for the Yo-kai Watch series to get localized in the US took forever. I remember hearing about the original game years before when it was in its beta/development stages and wished I could play it. However, because it was so Japanese, I thought it would remain a Japanese exclusive game/series once released. But I'm glad it got released world-wide for everyone to enjoy.
I heard about the following game today. It's in development for the PS4 and Nintendo Switch. It's called Murder Detective: Jack the Ripper, and from the description seems to be a visual novel, or maybe a mixed visual novel and point-and-click type game (much like Death Mark). I hope this gets released state-side. It sounds fun, and I can't wait for screenshots and gameplay. I hasn't even been released in Japan yet, however.
