Looks like the Japanese release of Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon: Every Buddy! supports English (which isn't all that surprising - this is an enhanced port of a 12 year old Wii game). Which means we'll probably getting release details for the West soon.

XSEED is soon going to reveal the official release date for Cold Steel Decisive Edition. Full on Nintendo Direct AND Xseed is finally gonna give us a date...this seems like a very active gaming news day. For me, anyway.

Personally, i'm neutral on Doremon as a character/franchise. It's stupidly popular in its country of origin, and it's not just a cash grab, but a beloved character and mascot that's been around since 1969.

This is a great combo as it mixes well, plus kids are gonna eat this up. It's highly unlikely that it'll get translated, but i'll be keeping an eye on it regardless.

I was just going to post about this. I think Doraemon is cute, but I'm still neutral on it as well. I have an English manga volume of Doraemon, and it is cute.

Do you think it is possible that, if it doesn't get translated, we can buy it on the Japanese e-shop digitally? I think the game will be great for practicing your Japanese. And it looks fun!

If it ever gets translated, like the Popolocrois spin-off did, would you buy it? I will.

I plan on importing it as I can't see it getting translated. IIRC, Disney has the rights to the Doraemon anime, which is the only form of visual media that's been licensed for the West (besides manga - but that's a whole other publish process).

Getting the rights to a Doraemon game would most likely be pricey, and with the IP not really popular outside its country of origin, I just don't see it being localized. Tom had to practically beg and pester his higher-ups to get the PoPoLoCrois game over here, and it didn't do fantastically.

That being said, as Doraemon games are usually very simple (aimed at kids), I bet this'll be simple to feel my way through.

So, umm...what about Final Fantasy 9? It looks pretty decent but I am ALWAYS attracted to FF games (I love story-driven games, after all) and never end up liking any of the ones I've tried, excepting only FFXV: Pocket Edition (lol?) My reasons always seem to boil down to one or both of these: that the story is too convoluted to the point of being nonsensical, or that the battle system is too bizarre. I did like FF7, but it was too ugly since I was trying it many years later, lol, and I find turn-based battles really tedious. I dropped it after a while in spite of liking the story and thinking some of the characters were interesting, and then I never picked it back up again. I kind of want to try FF9 but I always want to try FF games and it always turns out to be a loss. I have no idea what kind of game Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon is.

So happy to have a DQB2 release date, too! And the Rune Factory stuff goes without saying, or rather, I've splurted all over the internet about it already I was excited just to see RF4 on the Switch. I (literally) choked on a gasp/scream combo when the RF5-is-in-development-announcement followed it. And I don't know if I'll actually like the game, but Link's Awakening is darned cute.

I still have to go back and watch that Direct. I was so busy typing up the games that were coming out as they listed them, and then scrounging for links, that I saw almost none of it, lol.

EDIT: Hollow Knight is getting a sequel.

I would advise you not to solely for the reason that it's another FF with all the traditions that come with FF, nonsensical story and all. Many people argue it's the best in the series (I am not one of them, but I did enjoy it), but even based on the fact alone that turn based combat exists within it, I would advise you to just let it go lol.

Okay. I usually just accept when people tell me a game isn't for me, cuz they're almost never wrong, lol. (Well, MOST games aren't for me, after all!) The only time I've loved a game with turn-based combat was with Cold Steel. That battle system felt lively, to me, especially in the second game, a bit more than in the first, thanks perhaps to the Overdrive function. So turn-based combat really is a huge item on a 'con' list for me unless there's something really unique about it, like if the animations are frequent and lively or if they're throwing pies at each other or something. I was starting to be interested in the story of DQXI after about three hours of play, and I still had to drop it because the combat was torturously tedious for me.

...I wonder what kind of world this would be if people's brains actually worked the way they wanted them to... (sounds kind of scary, actually!)

I am HYPE for the Hollow Knight sequel! The fandom is going NUTS right now!

And Kiki, there's boosters in FFIX on Switch/PS4/PC that let you break the game if you just want it for the story. You can make everyone level 99, turn off encounters, and make all your damage output to 999999. This way, you're only fighting boss battles, and you end them within seconds (unless they're scripted to end differently).

FFIX IS my favourite game of all time, mostly for its story and characters, so if you just want that, you can experience it.

I would recommend the FF9 out of the FF franchise. The characters and story are interesting.

I didn't know this. Too bad though... I already bought FF9 on PSV.

I really can't wait for more news about Rune Factory 4 S and 5 as well as Fire Emblem Three Houses. I was relieved to hear the game was delayed because I still have time to save some money to buy the console and the game. So sad that there's no BokuMono news though but I hope it will be a simultaneous release.

Thanks for the notice on Hollow Knight! I hadn't seen anything about it just yet.

Not really sure how I feel about this, honestly. I'm sure it'll be good, but I was kind of hoping to see Team Cherry move on to something completely different after the Hornet DLC. They probably will, but that's definitely gonna take years now.

Edit: Haha, what am I complaining about? Team Cherry wouldn't have turned it into a full game if they were as burnt out as they seemed. And it'll certainly do good for the streamers and the like who got started from Hollow Knight. And then hopefully Team Cherry moves on AFTER this.

I'm super happy for everyone who loves FF9 (it's not one of my favorites, but my hubs absolutely adores it) but I'll be over here in my corner salty as « Snuggly Bunny » they didn't give us FF8 (my favorite) and skipped it entirely.

Another shock for me on the direct, but so happy about it! It's looking amazing and I can't wait to get my KS copy this summer!
