It's a sad state of affairs. Being interested in the game or trying to look forward to it will get you marked as a "boot licker" to "lazy" Game Freak. Like tbfh, people need to grow up. If you're dissapointed with how the series is developing, I can't change your opinion. You're entitled to it. Just like how you're entitled to provide critique. Just don't put other people who are looking forward to the game down or make them feel like a lesser person for it.
It's absolutely annoying. I am going to be honest, I have played every Pokemon title, but I am not a "die hard" fan of the series. I play them for the nostalgia and to experience each region as a new region. A lot of the main complaints (I.e. not being able to trade Pokemon from different versions) don't really apply to me since I never use Pokemon from my past files. I can understand that it would be annoying for fans who do utilize that feature, but it truly does not impact my opinion of the game. It'll be a stable Pokemon regardless, and it'll be a pretty fun 20 hours of gameplay. But I don't look for Pokemon games to rock my socks.

On topic: I don't know in what realm I possibly thought I was going to beat DQXI in the month before SS came out, but I will be adding DQXI to the backlog. I am loving the game so far, and have sunk 67 hours in. It seriously plays like a fantasy novel. I don't know how to describe it, but it feels like you are reading a Brandon Sanderson series. Every night, I take 2 hours before bed to just sit and play, and I have not gotten bored at all.

Backlog so far: Link's Awakening, Luigi's Mansion 3, Ryza, KH3. I am mostly borrowing these games from my friends, but still damn, need to play them before the gaming « Cow Poopoo » storm of 2020 hits.

I loved that game on Switch, but I abandoned it for FE: Three Houses in late July, and I've been really wanting to go back to it. While I had a blast with it, the bugs, long load times, and tiny text did make things tricky sometimes. I'm honestly worried my computer won't even run it, but if it does, I think it'll be a much smoother experience this way. And if it doesn't, I'll get a handful of other surprise games at the end of the month, so it won't be a total loss or anything. And I will be upgrading my PC at some point, probably a little ways away yet but still, eventually I will get to play it.
Portia on PC is a WORLD of difference, Ehppy! I abandoned the Switch version before the first major patch was released for it, and never regretted my decision. It practically felt like a completely different game. Hopefully your PC can run it.

I agree with all the sentiments about Pokémon here! Even my brother said he wouldn’t get our little sister one of the new Pokémon games for Christmas because he’s “morally opposed” to their “bad decisions” or something like that (so guess I’m the one getting it for her now lol). And it’s like, he hasn’t even played a Pokémon game since Pearl meanwhile the three other siblings (me, my sister, and our other brother) have played every game since then and are super excited for Sword and Shield because they look awesome! I do remember how much criticism Black and White got when they first came out and now people are calling them the “last good Pokémon games” which is kind of hilarious to me, though a bit sad as well. People seem to forget that Black and White didn’t let you catch/transfer old Pokémon until after beating the main story, that Ruby and Sapphire didn’t let you transfer Pokémon from the older generations at all, and are being generally entitled in my opinion.

I for one am excited. The new Pokémon designs are awesome, all of the new music I’ve heard so far is great, and the graphics and the region look absolutely stunning! It’s still going to feel like Pokémon the same way every game has managed to do, despite gimmicks that come and go. I’m likely buying a Switch Lite earlier than I planned to play this game and I can’t wait!

Still going with Ring Fit and enjoying it!

Played the Dragon Quest Builders demo today. It was fun, but I'm hesitant about the price tag for what it is. Has anyone played the original? How did you like it and how much time did you spend with it? Also can I eventually put roofs on because the open air rooms drive me crazy lol

I think a lot of us played it. I did. You can put loads of time in...it's one of those games where it's all in how much you want to do. You can build bare-bones, or make building your main point of playing. If you love to build, you can put hundreds of hours in...and it has a great post-game option (well, a post and during game option, since you can access Terra Incognita as soon as you finish Ch. 1) where you can just build and build all you like, without borders, with whatever options you unlocked in the game available to you all at once.

I feel it's definitely a series that needs to be played in order. The second game has so many more building options that the first game feels limited in comparison when it comes to creating things. Though I have heard that some people found the second game much too linear and that the first game felt less so. (I didn't feel that way myself. Both games felt entirely linear to me.) I loved both games, a lot. Will buy a third game day-one, for sure. :)

You can put roofs on whenever you want. Do you mean specific roof tiles? Those are not in great abundance in the first game but yeah, you do get roof-specific blocks at one point. You can scavenge a bunch of roof pieces from a big mansion in one of the portals in the first chapter. The first portal, I think. I don't remember when you actually learn to make the tiles yourself, though. I think not until chapter two.

Ok good to know for sure! I will probably wait quite a while since my backlog is crazy long lol. That is unless I find a good sale! >.>

Oh you can? So you can place blocks as long as they touch another block on one side? I feel like that wasn't made clear, so I thought I would need some sort of special unlock to put roofs on! XD

Yep, as long as each block is stuck to another block on one side, you're good :)

Ehppy, I love that you're doing a launch party. That would be so fun!

I play Pokemon for the same reasons as Genie9: for the nostalgia, and I like experiencing the new regions. I'm excited for Galar because it looks very pretty  while I like trying to complete the Pokedex (keyword: try) and breeding competitive Pokemon to trade, I don't really transfer them to new games. I like starting fresh :)

Four days left! But I think my copy will arrive the following week huu

Found where I put my Vita, so I can add Ar Nosurge to my list now. Probably won’t actually get that until after pokemon comes out and I have a chance to finish it and make my competitive team for the December tournament, though.

Oooo, that's one Gust game I haven't played + am hoping for a Switch Re-release. I watched the entirety of the Ciel Nosurge translation on youtube (Ar Nosurge's prequel) and absolutely loved it. I have a playlist of Ar Nosurge tucked away on my youtube that I've been meaning to binge, but the LPer used the English VA and it's hard transitioning to them. Especially with Ion.

Also, speaking on Vita games, I've been eyeing the Utawarerumono duology since forever. I passed on them when I had a Vita because they were redonks expensive, but now the PS4 versions have gone dirt cheap. Very tempting. I've always wanted to try the series out.

Um...turns out there's a surprising way to 'cheat' at Ring Fit, which I found out by accident.
Spoiler:
I complained before of finding the game not visually distinct, right? In that I often don't notice/can't see things like chests and obstacles and so on until I've already run past or into them? (I have perfect vision...no glasses necessary. For now, at least. But my TV is quite small and I can't stand very close to it during Ring Fit sessions, so maybe that contributes. But they really should have made important objects brighter colours or something, imo. They blend into the scenery too much. Only the golden coins stand out well.)

Anyway...I couldn't see what was in front of me, blocking my path...I thought it was a gap in the landscape or a log or something, so I jumped over it. AS I was going over it, I realized that I had just JUMPED OVER AN ENEMY, who show up as ghostly white outlines before you run into them. Meaning I skipped an entire excise section (of three or four enemies at once so it was the bulk of the exercise for this level!) just by pointing the ring con down and squeezing it in to jump over top.

I wouldn't have thought that was possible. And there seems to be no way to run backwards, so all I could do was continue on and complete the level. I will go redo this level tomorrow.
My heart rate doesn't hit 140 any more, and I'd like to be working between 140 and 150 most of the time, so it's definitely going to be difficulty level 10+ from here on out. The first session was very leg intensive but the following two were very arm intensive. I have very strong legs, and pathetically weak arms, plus neck issues that get worse with any shoulder tension, so I'm not loving the emphasis on arms. Unlocking new exercises actually makes this game easier and more customizable...having only 4 exercises open to you the first time you play makes it so that you have no choice but to do those exercises over and over, which means if any of them are difficult for you, you're in for a bad time, because you can't swap those ones out, yet.

It's still cute and fun (I played a mini game where you bob robots by squeezing in and pulling out on the ring con, quite rapidly, and it was more challenging than most of the workout portions. Probably because it was all arms.) but I am definitely now noticing a few things I think they need to update. I feel they should have given a couple extra exercises in your 'attack' arsenal to start, and it shouldn't be possible to jump over enemies. Maybe it was a blip that wasn't supposed to happen?

Anyway, I've noticed that the game gets more difficult even if you DON'T raise your personal difficulty level. So even if you were to stay at 10 the whole game, you'd be working much harder in the 20th location than you did in the 1st location, because it throws in more obstacles and more difficult ways to get past them, etc. Like now instead of a single blast of air to open a door, they have become portcullises with fans over top, and you have to shoot out many blasts of air to get the fan to turn, to open the gate. And you may have to jump four times in a row while running to get over rises in landscape, etc.

Today I had my first loss on Ring Fit. I got knocked out by Dragaux during the World 3 boss battle... :( I was 2 levels under the recommended, so I'm gonna try leveling up in previous levels before trying again. Also making sure I have smoothies for healing lol. I'm sore when going up my stairs at home, but otherwise I'm doing well and staying in 'Energetic' zone.

Oh that is interesting Kikki. I jumped over a set of enemies once, but it was because I was on an upper track and momentum from my jump to get coins carried me past them. I can see how it would be annoying to accidentally jump them. Hopefully that is a glitch? I do agree that sometimes roots/logs in particular are very hard to see ahead of time. I have run into them more than once

That robot bopping game is very fun! I have also run into a fun one where you lean side to side to gather coins and avoid bombs. The minigames are fun to round out a session I think! :)

Thanks for the link to the reddit! I can appreciate the pockets of the internet where people are allowed to be genuinely excited for these games. I know it's just loud people being loud, but it's gotten pretty annoying all the same.
It's so close!

Kikki wrote: Obviously don't poke this link if you don't want to see new pokemon or evolutions, but today I saw a chart of all the known pokemon in SwSh, and unlike the other chart I saw, this one is clickable so you can actually enlarge it big enough to peruse. (I think this abbreviation is super cute and always read it as SWISH.) Man, a lot of those pokemon are super cute. I even like a bunch of the evoutions, and normally I only think the baby form is cute. I am wavering very much on whether or not this should be my first Pokemon game. I think the setting/world is quite pretty for the first time, and I want to make many types of curry. But I'm betting the overall game play...a giant turn-based rock-paper-scizzors battle system, and without a particularly strong/meaningful plot...is not really my cup o' tea.

But...I think I saw a Pokemon in there that IS a cup o' tea. WAVER.

Nobody knows if I will end up getting this or not. Not even psychics and people who can see the future, because I just haven't committed to either leg of the Trousers of Time!

Well, gotta go make fudge. If you have a family member on chemo and they feel like eating fudge, you drop anything else that might be going on and make a batch of the stuff. :)
I am very curious to see if you end up picking up Pokemon! Of course you gotta go with your gut. I haven't seen a lot of the pokemon they've shown off yet, but I really like all the ones I have seen. Grookey has my whole heart and soul. I can imagine your team would be made up of the most lovely and adorable 'mons.
I hope the fudge was good!!

Thanks! I haven't gotten much of a chance to play yet since I was busy yesterday, but I'm really excited to dive in and enjoy a more complete experience. It did lock up and crash my computer three times, but after making sure my graphics drivers were up to date and then uninstalling and reinstalling, it seems to be running okay! I have to keep the settings relatively low since I don't have a very powerful PC, but it's functional. I did some running around on a test file for a while and I'm already feeling excited all over again. :)

Thank you! I think it will be! :)

I think I'm in a similar boat as well. I probably have the most fun carefully crafting my team with all the new pokemon, and exploring the new region. It's a little formulaic, but I like that formula. And it does look super pretty. I'm really excited to start poking around. :) And of course I'm looking forward to comparing teams and experiences with everyone here on fogu.

Ahh that's rough!! I hope your copy can surprise you and arrive on time.

Thanks Ehppy :) I'm pleased because I managed to work more almonds and marshmallows in this time, still without melting the marshmallows at all and keeping them nice and fluffy. Apparently the fudge was so good that I'm starting to get requests to STOP making it, because people are afraid they're getting fat. They say this while still eating the fudge, btw. My dad can't put the stuff down, heh heh... (Which is good, imo, cuz he's lost weight. He can start worrying about a healthy diet again after the chemo is over.)

I still have not decided on Pokemon. :/ I want to make experimental curry, I think the world is pretty, I like that there's customization...and some of the pokemon I saw are quite appealing. But gameplay-wise it's probably really not my type of game. And Pokemon is gameplay-centric.

Though I'll never know unless I actually play one, of course.

I finally unlocked all the workouts in Fitness Boxing. This isn't an overly difficult thing to do, but you do need to pass all previous workouts with at least 2/3 stars to get the next. I was dilly dallying. I like the weaving combos the most so I was content just doing those daily, but one of the more advanced combos caught my eye, so I worked daily to unlock it. It's brutal but I can see myself doing it often enough. However, I think i'll be unlocking the trainer outfits and accessories far into next year. I don't even have half of them yet!

Fire Emblem Three Houses playthrough number 4 is going well. I snatched up every possible student to my side and then jumped into the timeskip. I'm on chapter 17/22, so I could probably finish it today. My core party this time around is that pretty much everyone is Mortal Savants (weapon specialists that also have magic) and two flying units. Anna is a godtier unit. I don't think I've ever had her NOT crit. The maid and butler outfits are also delightfully silly. It's a shame you can't put them on any of the teachers. ;<

Just 3 more days til Pokemon now. If I do finish FE today, I'll probably move onto Xenoblade 2 nopon stone grinding. I want those costumes.
