@Pachi Oh yeah I know, just haven’t checked lol. I will do a comparison when I beat the game probably though! As for the boss fight…
Spoiler:
It’s the group of Black Mage, Salve Master, Sage, and Summoner in the Eternian forces base. They keep killing me with all their fire magic!
Edit: Finally beat the boss fight using a ridiculous strategy, but I managed to do it without taking any damage!

I'm also super curious about how they'd handle a remake of Legend of Mana. It's honestly really beautiful as it is. But I'd be very interested to see it happen! I've always got the original if they somehow messed it up, lol. That's cool that someone here on Fogu introduced you to it!
ryume wrote: That stinks, Ehppy :( I primarly played Portia on my husband’s rig (since I was working nights at that time so he certainly wasn’t using it lol), which is pretty powerful even though the only PC game he plays is WoW, so I am not really able to give you any ideas for solutions to run it at lower resolutions, etc. THIS THREAD on the Steam forum might give you some ideas if you’re really determined to play. Uninstalling/reinstalling may be the answer, as much of a pain as it is, but it sounds like the OP was having similar issues to what you’re having.

If none of that works, Legend of Mana is definitely a great alternative! My favorite character from that game is probably Li’l Cactus :)
Uninstalling and reinstalling didn't work for me unfortunately, but I'm going to try the other things OP mentioned there! I don't know why but apparently disabling the wifi worked decently well for them, so it's worth a shot. Thank you for the link, I appreciate it!
I might be able to borrow someone else's PC to play on occasion as well, if that doesn't work. My mom's computer runs games pretty well, though the graphics card crashes if it doesn't have an external fan blowing on it at all times. It's not the most convenient option, but it'd be better than not being able to play at all.

Aww I love Li'l Cactus too! First thing I complete any missions I make sure to head upstairs and tell him about my adventures. His journal entries are so cute. :)

And yay, Kikki! I hope you have fun with Pokemon, whenever you decide to pick it up. :)
One of my favorite things about pokemon is both making my own little team and seeing how different everyone else's teams turn out. I'd love to see how your team turns out!

Tomorrow is Pokemon Day!! I'm so HYPE.

Whatever team I make will probably be ineffective for battling; I have no idea what I'm doing. I just want it to be a bunch of cute little buggers that I find charming.

It's probably a midnight release, right? Well, have fun, everyone. :)

PS: I'm way too sore in a lot of odd places. Can't figure if it's Ring Fit, or if muscle use is making my brain misfire, as before (or whatever it is). I'm definitely having nerve pain after I go to bed each night but it's not at a level that I can't deal with. Right now my shins and elbows hurt for no reason I can think of. I'll have to do some extra stretching from now on, I guess. Hopefully that can smooth things out.

Hope everyone who's picking up Pokemon tomorrow has fun! It looks really cute. :D Still undecided for the moment myself...but I wish you all the best! 30 minutes to go!

No backlog progress has been made in the last week...I actually picked up Stardew Valley on the Switch to have with me out of town (battery lasts quite a while with it) and ended up playing that more than anything. (Absolute godsend on long flights.) I've played just enough now that the gameplay loop has gotten me again. I don't have anything else I KNOW I'm getting this year though, so it'll be fine.

I'm super relieved that the port is good...I was worried about fishing, but it's not too bad.

The only thing I don't miss is the inventory management. Probably the only part of the game I can say is outright bad...

Side note...« Harvest Goddess » I wish we had access to update logs on Switch like you do on PC. It really bugs me to see software get an update and to not have access (easy access, at least) to a changelog. :/ (Just got one for Stardew today...) Not everyone on PC even cares about that, but at least it's there for those of us who do.

Pokemon is so much fun! Wheeeeeeee! I'm having a really hard time choosing my team already. The new Pokemon are so charming and so many old favourites a very tempting! I LOVE Delibird and almost party wiped on one because they're too strong for me yet! For now my permanent team is Scorbunny and the Special Meowth. Everything else is tentative.

Also, I got a female Scorbunny on my 5th reset. #blessed LOL

I am going to have some major backlog for a while now since Pokemon Sword and Shield are out now. In case anyone was curious they were $10 less in store at Walmart, and I believe the double pack was cheaper too, but I forget the price. I have funny story to share about this by the way:

So I found out about the price difference online a couple of days ago but I had already pre-ordered Sword at GameStop with store credit, so my husband was like, " If it really is less at Walmart, you should get Shield too!" (I've brought him into the Pokemon fold, mwa-ha-ha!) I was going to look for some new bedding for my daughter's "big" bed so I figured I'd take a peek in the electronic department while I was there. While the apparent new electronics guy was having trouble opening and closing the case, I was approached by a guy and gal from Nintendo, who happened to be stopping by to see if Walmart was doing okay with its stock and such and noticed I was getting Shield! They chatted with me for a little bit, super nice, and then wanted to take a picture of me with the game! Sure, if they want to take a pic of a grown woman with her kids in a double stroller loving on Pokemon, go for it! Fill those demographics, lol! Thought that was too funny not to share, especially since I will likely be using most of my free time in the foreseeable future playing the two games. :)

I had housework to do, and barely any energy to move (and I still have to clear the driveway of snow before 4 this afternoon!) so knowing I didn't have the energy to spare for Ring Fit, I checked my account and then went ahead and bought Shield this morning, and it took 2+ hours to download it. So it was dishes and vacuum time for a while there.

As this is the first Pokemon game I have ever owned (I played the demo for Sun/Moon, and I think that's my entire Pokemon experience previous to this) I have been writing down bullet points on things I like/dislike as I go along. I'll post them in the review thread once I've actually experienced a decent bit of gameplay. But it's pretty easy to come up with a basic impression. 1) I don't like the battle system since it is standard turn-based stuff. Super boring. 2) I love the collecting. So its...kind of hard to say I do or don't like it so far, overall, since the battling and collecting are inextricably entwined. I'm also looking forward to seeing an evolution. I don't plan to evolve any monsters I find cutest in their baby form, but anything else, up it goes.

I am now too tired to keep playing, though, lol. I wish that was a joke, but I seriously need to go to sleep now! Sobble is SO cute, but I looked up the evolutions of these little rascals and I didn't like any of them much, but Scorbunny's were the nicest looking, to me, so I went with him. I don't really know what impact gender or nature has, so I didn't bother doing any resetting and just went with the 'serious, male' Scorbunny the game gave me on the first go. He doesn't look all that serious to me, constantly smiling and bouncing around...

Sobble is horribly cute when it cries. I wish its evolution wasn't so creepy-looking.

Spoiler:
I was happy at first that Corsola was getting an evolution. And then I saw Galar’s Corsola. And then I saw Cursola. Now I feel sad. ._.

So I gave into temptation and bought a Switch Lite and Pokémon Sword, which I’m enjoying a ton already! It’s exciting to see all the new Pokémon and the world looks so pretty! I hope everyone else who got one of them is enjoying it as much as me. :)

I got Untitled Goose Game as an early birthday present, and I beat it in like two days. Lots of fun, I enjoyed being a goose. The only things I have left to do are the time trials before being 100% done with it, but that'll be for another day because...

I also got Pokémon Shield. I played for a good chunk of today and it was a lot of fun. Stopped just outside the Galar Mines, but I'm tempted to just pick the game back up and play just a little more... I picked Grookey as my starter and so far my "main team" will end up being: Grookey, Rookidee, and Yamper. I'm still exploring and seeing which Pokémon I can find. I'll probably end up rotating out more than a few members of my team. I adore the Wild Area so far. Only this game would make me fear a Cherubi. Granted, it was 20 levels higher than me, but I was intimidated nonetheless. I just really like exploring and seeing which Raid battles I could participate in. I still need to find the Butterfree one.

So yeah, so far so good with Pokémon Shield. :)

I...feel a little bad. I decided to try out the surprise trade, and I sent out one Level 4 Wooloo and one Level 5 Nickit, and I got a Level 8 Magikarp and a Level 17 Machop in return. I hope MY trades didn't go directly to those people, cuz if so, they got a bad deal! I thought it'd match up similar levels, at least.

I think Nickit and Wooloo are way cuter than Machop and Magikarp, but they're super common, and Machop even has one level of Dynamax on him, so they're definitely stronger pokemon. Overall I just have no idea what I'm doing. Guess I'd better at least collect a few better Pokemon to trade, and obviously I can't complain if I send out a few good ones and get low-level common ones in return.

EDIT: Tried Dynamaxing, too, and am happy that you can do it by yourself and the game will just plunk 3 AI trainers in with you. I'm not sure but I think I recognize them all so maybe it draws from a pool of trainers you've fought before? I can't tell.

Can you prevent Pokemon from evolving? I was told before that you could, but they've been doing so automatically for me, with no choice to stop it.

@Kikki If it works like the old games, then you can cancel evolution by pressing B right when the evolution animation starts. If it’s a Pokémon that evolves by levelling up, though, you’ll have to do this every level if you want them to stay unevolved. There’s a more permanent way that involves a held item called an Everstone, which will stop them from attempting at all if you give it to your Pokémon. (This is all based on older games so it may not be entirely accurate but it mostly likely works very similarly.)

I wouldn’t feel bad for the Surprise Trade, however; part of the fun is getting entirely random Pokémon! There’s always a fair bit of commons bouncing around so it feels extra special when you get something good. If you specifically want to trade something that will make someone happy, trading some of the version exclusives is usually a good bet in case you get matched with someone who has the opposite game. :)

Thanks :) I'll try that if one of the ones who has an ugly evo tries to evolve.

We should probably have a Pokemon thread, no? I'm sure it's pretty popular, so it might bog down the Backlog thread pretty quickly if all the discussion is going on in here.

It's pretty fun, honestly. The cooking and all the items you can give out and the trades are all fun, even if I don't like the basic fighting. Dynamaxing is interesting, too. I was only gonna give the game a 6.5/10 at first but it's creeping upward. Doesn't hurt that I have a Pokemon I really like in both looks and attacks, even though it's common. (And it just evolved into something even spiffier.)

Howdy all!

I have been consistent with Ring Fit Adventure still and haven't skipped a day since I was resting my calf. Silent mode is hard, but def still doable and doesn't hurt my calves at all! \o.o/ I have def been enjoying it a lot and I am SOOOO happy I got it!

I have been plugging away on Harvest Moon 2. I am about halfway done with my first winter. I don't mind it as much as 1 and it has enough to do to keep me occupied.

I have also been going through the mountain of demos I have acquired. Started with my Switch, but after 2 days and almost 25 demos played I am down to only 11 more! Of all the demos I have played only 6 have stayed on my wishlist. All the others were def not for me. I love it when demos exist to let you figure that out without spending money

Welp, I think I'm closing in on the end of the story for Pokemon Shield, however, it's in no way going to be over for me. I'm actually going to be filling out my Pokedex and getting the shiny charm so I can hunt for some specific shinies for another playthrough. I'm also going to be doing a basic playthrough of Sword somewhere in the next few months as well.

I also picked up Cat Quest 2 (I loved the first one) and I have the funds ready for SaGa Scarlet Grace on December 3rd! It's a shame that Heroland is coming out the same day, but if I have to choose between the two, SaGa all the way. I've waited 3 years for this game meanwhile it took just over a year for Heroland to make its way over here. It can wait, but I'm defs going to pick it up eventually too.
