Guys, I don't know if this screenshot was posted here, but
Spoiler:
Image
Ann. That's Ann. She looks so different, and we haven't seen her portrait yet. Again, looks a lot more feminine. I don't like this. I don't like this at all.

Thank goodness I'll never ever, ever play as guy, but I feel for Ann and Karen's fans. Also, Rick's portrait...I wonder if he'll keep his more 'outlandish' expressions, which were a huge part of his charm. But I'm thinking he won't.

I also have a big version of the screen Kiki posted, and you can definitely see Kai. His model looks fine at least. (Again, Ann! And who's next to the doctor?)
Spoiler:
Image
A different screen of the fields, it looks better with some shadows from the clouds.
Spoiler:
Image
And just for the kicks, a closer look at Popuri. Not terrible, but I feel meh about it, and can't really see her a Popuri. What was wrong with her headband?
Spoiler:

EDIT: There are way more better snaps in other screenshots not seen in trailer. I've seen every character but Zack and Won, kinda worrying.

That's Mary not May

Wait the blond dude might be Gray? Arghhh, what was wrong with his hat? That was the most memorable part of his design. Please let it not be so.

That does it, I'm firmly in the "I don't like the new designs" camp. I didn't even like Mineral Town that much. Please let that be the new guy instead.

I mean I could see it being sort of like... "My parents want me to dress more feminine but I'm a tomboy" kind of situation but... I think I'm being too hopeful lol. I do see what looks like shorts under that "dress" or long shirt though (hard to tell exactly what she's wearing). I'm kind of annoyed she has bangs... xD Idk why but I feel like someone like Ann wouldn't want to maintain something like bangs, as someone with bangs I know how annoying they can be. I see Ann as someone who grows her hair out because she doesn't think much of it, and then just ties it all up so it's out of her way. So... yeah I don't get the bangs.

Personally I never saw Karen as much of a "tomboy"? She's assertive and has spunk... is that a tomboy thing now? Kind of silly imo. .__. Some feminine women wear shorts occasionally, and sometimes... they change clothes. She changed her clothes but I don't really care, hopefully they keep her spunk despite that. The little screenshots we've seen don't give us that many hints one way or another. I am however loving her new hairstyle, but I do wish the ombre was more noticeable.

After playing HM64 the changes in BTN/Fomt were really JARRING to me with the characters, sure they looked similar but their personalities were very different to me, and their relationships were totally different and it was off-putting... but I got used to it because I figured, this is a different universe. To me this just feels like Mineral Town in a parallel universe lol.

Oh wow, that was a fast localization announcement. XSeed's gonna be busy with RF4S and SoS:FoMT that's for sure. At least a lot of the text for RF4 was probably already done, but they're gonna have to work on FoMT from the ground up. I hope the "sassy" nature isn't toned down too much. I want the townspeople to come yell at me for displaying Golden Lumber like the good old days. But I imagine some of the edges are going to be filed down for better or for worse because there are things that they can't really get away with anymore like the drinking competition between Karen and Duke. I don't know if that'll make it back in or not... I also wonder if they'll have more than one bed in the infirmary this time so if you faint while Cliff's been KO-ed he doesn't get moved to the lobby only to pass out again. Seriously, this game was kinda brutal at times.

Hopefully if they do, they’ll be colored properly this time, and it won’t look like he suddenly grows a mustache when he’s angry.

Yeah I agree. Karen seemed like the cool older sister type to me for the most part, although she could be a little rough around the edges. I think maybe her drinking might be considered unladylike, which could be where people are getting tomboy from.

But I also think one of her rival events with Rick made mention of the two playing pretty roughly when they were young (with her winning), so I can see that contributing to the tomboy image, too.

---- (the quote button is breaking, idk what's going on)

I guess so, I think my memory of Fomt Karen and HM64 Karen are kind of bleeding into each other, although she drank in HM64 she never struck me as a tomboy in that game.

I'm going to buy it anyway so I could say anything I like about it but I know I'll buy it anyway. I want to play it before I say I hate it. Even if I don't like it, I still got the original. I love the series but not enough to scrutinize it the way you guys do. I envy that because I would have lasted a lot longer in the previous games if I had that ability

I'm sorry this is turning out to be a disappointment for a lot of you. Its gotta suck. I'd feel the same way if they did this to AWL.

It is Gray. He's seen with Kai in the church during the wedding and Kai would always stick with Gray in FoMT.

Wrong, the silhouettes of hatless Gray and Mary are different.

I never got a chance to play this game, but my first game was HM DS so the chibi style is nostalgic, at least somewhat. I think Popuri looks super cute, personally! I love that braid! But that doesn't stop me from being irritated. I don't want a remake, I want a NEW story of seasons game with NEW characters. I want my character customization, I want non-chibi character designs. If this is what they meant by a story of seasons game on the switch and we're not getting an actual one later on then I'm gonna be pretty angry. First doraemon and now this. The only silver lining is that we hopefully won't have to do any crafting and people like Gotz who are carpenters will actually do their jobs. And hopefully they give Claire more outfits to wear than just her overalls. I need some variety. I guess it's good for those fans that liked the older games. I'll still get it so that I can finally spend some time in an actual mine.

I feel the same way, Fishie, at least partly. I don't object to the existence of this remake, but when I realized that they might mean that THIS was the game that was already in the works, I was very disappointed, because I want a NEW game, with graphics that are as good as or, preferably, better than what we saw in SoS and Trio.

I'm not concerned that we'll NEVER get a new game, but I do still wonder if the remake being announced now means that the new game is even further off than I thought...and I already thought it was going to be about 1-2 more years before I'd get to play a new SoS game. I really hope they come up with a beautiful new or evolved style, too. :)

EDIT: I must have missed this. How do you know exactly who those silhouettes are, JustABeautifulGuy? Does it say on the page in Japanese or something?

These remakes are necesary. when companies make games for a brand new console they need to get familiar with the hardware. You will get a better New SoS game thanks to this remake existing. If they jumped directly to the new game the quality would be compromised. think aboud how different are HM: A new beggining and the first SoS
