While I get that a lot of people are disappointed about the game, a few of us are still looking forward to this installment. And it’s hard to stay hyped while seeing people complaining about something small such as what is Ann wearing or what did they do with Cliff’s ponytail.

I sort of agree but at the same time it also kind of feels good to vent frustrations/worries. xD It does suck if it kills hype for some people...

Despite my worries I'm super hyped for this game and I'll buy it 100% (in Japanese though). This and AC are the two games I'm looking forward to the most in 2019 (then comes RF5 in 2020 lol). I mostly love the designs but it's kind of weird to me how most of the characters have bangs now... idk why it weirds me out but it does. It just makes me think they got an artist who really likes to draw bangs and doesn't like getting out of his comfort zone (I say this without knowing/remembering at all who the artist is, maybe it was mentioned)

I assumed Ann was #3 of the unseen girls (Mary, Elli, Ann, New girl) and that she's wearing a long shirt or an apron over her jeans?

haha, you're welcome. and igusa matsuyama actually has done the artwork for nearly all of the bokumono games (aside from Tree of Tranquility and Animal Parade) so he was the one who did the original designs for the characters for BTN and FoMT/MFoMT (and probably 64 but i cant find a source for that). he can indeed draw foreheads without bangs!

But that's kind of basically saying people shouldn't say anything negative about the game. That's point of this threat though, to say your opinions, whether good or bad. Most I've seen have said both good and bad things about. They have that right. If players who love the game don't like reading the comments, just ignore them or maybe make a thread about why you're happy about it and say only post positive things. I think it's good people express themselves, whether good, bad, or neutral. Fans who like it, should not be put off by negative comments if they don't agree and should stay excited. It's why my sister said to me, don't just go off by what people say. Try it out yourself. Which I know you can't do right now, but don't let negative opinions put you down. For me, I'm mostly positive, but I get the negative parts of what people are saying. I agree with some, I don't. It's to the person about how they feel about it in the end.

Had to make an account after literal YEARS of lurking just to talk about this remake because I am so gosh darn excited for it. My first Harvest Moon game was Magical Melody for gamecube and I never could find a copy of friends of mineral town or more friends of mineral town in my local stores as a kid so I've never had the opportunity to play it even when it was at its hayday as the most beloved Harvest Moon title by just about everyone. So the fact that as an adult I am finally going to be able to play this title has me completely and utterly ecstatic.

So far I love the redesigns too, it probably has to do with the fact that my first HM game was magical melody (which I sunk hours into to get all 100 notes) but the more chibi artsyle makes me really happy and nostalgic. I will say the in game models of the characters look a little more like Funkopops than like true bubble-head chibi, and that might be something that is bothering people a bit, as it can be a little unsettling and doll-like, but after seeing the trailer of the characters in motion it feels lively enough to not fall into uncanny valley.

I also don't know if anyone noticed but the Harvest Goddess along with Kappa has gotten a major redesign too. I don't think this green-haired version of the goddess has been seen since A New Beginning, and she looks very very different from her typical look with a lack of buns and a gold tiara. Overall I'm a fan of hers and everyone's redesigns, I'm excited to see how much more personality they might have too. SoS Trio had a considerable amount of dialogue in it for all the characters, more than just one daily line that changes at each heart level, I hope that is the case for this remake of Mineral Town as well, that way the characters will have more opportunity to have more story.

ALSO the return of the bubble cow and pink sheep has me so happy! I can't wait to see the newer animals in mineral town as well. The pink cow is the cutest thing I have ever seen. I can't wait for more information on the farming system as well, having one plot to manage will make me happy, I was getting overwhelmed with the placement of everything in SoS and SoS Trio. By far the feature that I am OVER THE MOON about is the return of ACTUAL MINES!! I don't think there has been proper mining in a bokumono game since... Animal Parade? Mining was always one of my favorite activities to do in bokumono so I am so so so happy it is back.

I maybe in the silent majority here (if the poll numbers mean anything) because I am excited beyond words about this game. I know many of the comments on this thread have to do with the features that are making people disappointed, or just the fact that this isn't technically a brand new title has people down too. I urge everyone to stay positive though, of course vent and let your frustrations out, but there is so much we don't know yet about the game as it has just been announced that I can't help but be positive about this! It's been my dream to actually play mineral town so I'm just glad it can finally come true!

Omg I just realized that I can finally do what I always told myself I was gonna do... I'm going to stop looking into this game.

I'm going to buy it no matter what so, I'm going to stop looking into it. That when when I play, it'll be a big surprise like it used to be when I played the old games. I was always wondering if maybe knowing most of the stuff took away from the experience... This way I won't even know who the secret bachelor/bachelorette is.

I can't wait for October.

At the very least, Hashimoto knows that people want same-gender marriage (from this article and this one) and that was back in 2016 so it's definitely possible for them to have done something about it by now. I still wouldn't really get my hopes up on any of the old marriage candidates becoming bi, but there's a chance the new ones might be date-able regardless of your player character's gender.

Those articles make an interesting point and I'm definitely curious to see how they'll end up implementing it when they finally get around to it.

I didn't read through all the pages in this thread, but did anyone notice there's no more winter crops?
I'm glad cz that means I can slack off and just woo the bachelors (and mining!! OMFGIMISSU) during winter now

hopefully they can have a lot of saves this time instead of two meager save slots they gave to previous games.
My japanese ain't that good, but damn I am ecstatic to see furigana in the japanese texts, good opportunity to brush up your japanese!

And I wonder whether they will revert back to :10 :20 :30 time format?
All the screenshots I saw so far use that time format.

Oh, I didn't notice they reverted to this format! How I missed it Judging from the trailer, the time pace is same as the original which makes it better But I'm sure this format is only for this remake and they won't be likely to continue it for the next SoS games.

Looking at the new adorable site with what Japanese my browser translated didn't seem to say either way. All the shadows were definitely the Fab five girls and guys from the old games, plus the two "mystery" characters. Hope this doesn't mean they are not available and it's just a surprise.

Kappa and HG are back, but it hasn't been confirmed yet if they're still secret/special marriage candidates. We haven't seen Won and Gourmet yet, but Gourmet will most probably still be around because of the cooking festival.

I’m personally very happy to see a classic-style HM coming out of Marvelous. I’ve been waiting a long time for something like this!

Not sure how to feel about the cast, since they kinda look like entirely different characters now, but I’m sure that will make it easier on my heart when they inevitably rename all of them for the localization.

I can see it as being Mineral Town with the original cast it deserved, instead of being just bizarro Flowerbud Village.
