Something I've been wondering is how XSeed is going to go about localizing the names of, well, everyone. I feels there's a lot of nostalgia in play with this title, and doing direct translations over Natsume's names is the proper thing to do, it may cause some drama. IDK if anyone remembers, but a while back Xseed localized Lunar Silver Star Harmony on PSP they retranslated the songs (Opening and Boat song) and I recall the upset surrounding it. Xseed explained that their new translation was basically one-one rather than whatever was done with the songs in the original PSX version, but most were having none of it. I even had a few friends irl who were upset about it. IDK, kinda inconsequential in the grand scheme of things, but I'm interested nonetheless.
I’m not sure about the rest of the villagers, but every single marriage candidate aside from Ann has the exact same name in Japanese as they do in Natsume’s localization. So for example, if XSeed localizes Kai as Kai then they aren’t stealing from Natsume, they’re literally just using his original name. The only name they might have a reason to change is Ann, because her Japanese name is Ran.

For the other villagers, there's also Stu (Yuu), Doug (Daddo), and Won (Hong/Hoang)

Slightly odd clip about the television and a typhoon and being afraid to see the condition of the field the next day...

Omg they brought back the pink-outfit brunette weather lady from the original game. And if you look closely at the clip on Twitter, her hair is whipping around when she announces a typhoon, just like in the original.
I wonder if the weather lady will get buried in an avalanche of snow when she announces a blizzard in winter. The "dangerous weather" animations she did in the original game were a nice touch.

I think this is the first clip we see of the main character waking up, and now I'm a bit sad that they don't eat their breakfast at the table like they did in the original game. It's a little strange to me to see them eat a full meal next to their bed.

Yeah, I thought that was weird too.

I loved the weather lady. I remember wishing she was a marriage candidate. xD

Poor woman goes through a lot in her job, getting blown around by typhoons and dumped on by blizzards.

The TV's pretty small in the video. I assume you can buy a bigger one when you upgrade your house.

That's true about the breakfast thing. I wonder why they changed it.

It would be nice if the option to eat meals with your family returned from 3oT. That was a great feature.

I am SO excited for this game. FoMT was one of my favorite HM titles of all time. I feel like I get to relive my childhood! I’ll miss the original designs of the characters, but a few of the new looks I have liked so far, maybe they’ll all grow on me eventually. I wasn’t sure if we’d ever see these cast of characters again! Popuri was always my favorite girl in FoMT, so I feel drawn to marry her again, but part of me is also interested in seeing what Jennifer is about, since she’s the new one! We’ll see. Can’t wait!

Welcome to FOGU, MDEZ! :) Dunno if you've been a lurker for ages or if you're really brand new, but welcome either way.

I think I said this before, but mention of this being an old favourite or people's first Bokumono game and etc makes me worry a little about the balance they're going to take with this game. We have very distinct camps of fan, here. People who were huge fans of the older games in the series and people who prefer the newer games. (Naturally we also have some who have enjoyed both.) I'm not sure what kind of balance they're trying to strike with SoS: FoMT, but I hope they're not wishy-washy about it. I fear that if they try to leave enough the same to keep fans of the older stuff happy AND add enough new stuff to keep the interest of fans of the newer Bokumono games, we'll end up with a classic case of he who chases two hares catches neither.

We'll know really soon, won't we? Three weeks to the Japanese release!

Thanks, Kikki! I used to lurk/occasionally post on these forums under a different account several years ago (can't even fully remember what the name was on the account... shows that it was a long time ago lol) I've recently been getting back into the Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons franchise again, so thought I'd come back here. A lot of great Harvest Moon sites have come and gone over the years, good to see that FOGU/UNOT is still going strong.

And yes, I definitely fit into that group of fans who prefer the older HM games... I have a soft spot for them as I first began playing HM in the early 2000's. I would actually like to see a balance of old and new in this game, something to give us the nostalgic feel of the original FoMT, in addition to new features to keep it interesting. I like how they added two new marriage candidates for each gender, and I think i read somewhere that the original candidates will all have a new heart event? It would also be nice to see new festivals added to this game, or just any new features really.

Also, in the original FoMT it seems like there was some unfinished business that never got concluded. Like it would be nice to finally meet Duke and Manna's daughter Aja, or finally have Lillia's husband Rod return home with a cure for her illness (Popuri was my favorite bachelorette, so it really bothered me that you could never meet your own father-in-law... you could play the game up to as many as 50 years, and he's still out there looking for a cure :( )

Another addition that would be nice is that your child can actually grow older than the toddler stage, or at least have a bigger role in the game other than just being an object in your house.

But yes, we should know more details in the next few weeks after the Japanese release!

Two new ones for each gender? I've only seen one new one apiece. (Brandon and Jennifer) Were some of those other ones not option before? And about the child...unfortunately in interviews the devs have already confirmed that the children don't grow up any more than already shown. I guess they got asked about that a lot. Would have been nice if they'd made the kid more of its own person rather than a cute interactive decoration.

Karen's submission looks metallic. Pretty sure the Gourmet is going to succumb to lead poisoning soon.

Oh, excuse me. Bad wording on my part, should have caught that. Yes, I meant to say that I like how they added the two new marriage candidates, one for each gender (Brandon and Jennifer).

And darn that sucks about the child... so it’ll be a toddler forever once again. Oh well. I at least hope to have a little more interactions and events with the child, because they were pretty limited in the original FoMT.

Even if the child couldn't help with chores it would be cute to even have dialogue where they offer to.
