maybe, but it's also a lot more controversial. people really REALLY don't like being locked out of potential romance candidates by gender. i'd honestly be surprised if they did this instead of just making everyone bi.RodCopper Fishin wrote:^^ Ahh do you think they could be gay? Like some characters are only gay or straight? That’s a pretty advanced dynamic as opposed to anybody can marry anybody. More realistic, too.

I definitely dont think it's that deep, personally, and even if it were, I would certainly hope it's a situation where everyone is bi. Games like this that are heavily fantasy based family fun, I definitely prefer that everyone is ronanceable by everyone. It's only in more realistic nitty-gritty games that I enjoy the realistic take with everyone having their personal preferences (ie. Cyberpunk, Mass Effect, games of that nature.)
I would be ecstatic if they had s/s relationships, though. Silver haired lady and chipsqueek girl are prime-waifu material and I really, really prefer playing as my own gender.

honestly, i just think they'd just make everyone bi if they were gonna make s/s marriage a thing. i mostly think the screenshots are there just to break up the monotony, but it'd be nice if it was an actual hint that you can marry anyone as any gender and i really am hoping s/s marriage is in the game.RodCopper Fishin wrote:^^ Ahh do you think they could be gay? Well, Gematsu has put up their own translations for Cecil, Lucy, and 4 new villagers. The article's here for anyone who wants to see.
They also had an article from a few weeks ago detailing the first characters shown. (Ares, Alice, Priscilla, Scarlett, Reinhard, Martin, Livia, Gandage, and Oswald). The thing about this one is that Livia's your boss, which I find hilarious.
Some interesting things to note from the other day: Lucy has a younger brother named Julian, and their mother is the town mayor and doctor, Simone. Wonder if they'll have kept the "Pay for your treatment after you pass out" thing. Jones was so mean, asking for a lotttt of money. There's also another detective, Terry, in town and I'm willing to bet he'll be Cecil's mentor figure of sorts. Terry already looks more competent than Illuminata at least... Hina is detailed to be a "wereanimal" girl, so I assume that's what Chipsqueak girl and Wolf(?) dude are as well. Hina's super cute though...
Overall, I really like the designs so far. Can't wait to see more. Although considering the game comes out in May 2021, I'm shocked we're getting information at a steady pace. There's still like, 6 candidates we haven't seen yet. Wonder what the schedule will be like going forward. Maybe once a month??

Well I've played games that have done it both ways. Letting everyone be bi you just use more of your imagination to fill the NPC's background and ideals (like Skyrim for example), whereas if you have very specific orientations for the NPC's their backgrounds and stories can be more developed (like DA:I), but the player can be left wanting. For this game, with just a limited number to chose from, I'd rather just let the player decide.RodCopper Fishin wrote:^^ Ahh do you think they could be « homosexual »? And of course there is the child (which I assume we can have). I have to think in this game world it still takes male/female to make a child, though they could just say you find the baby under a cabbage leaf I suppose.

Hey Rope! Nice to see you too. :3 It's nice to finally have new RF content to bring old ushi users together.RopeMaidenKirie wrote:Heeeey Rune! It's really nice to see you :D
OMG I'd be so happy if there were finally s/s romance options in the RF series. ToT I'd love everyone to be a choice for everyone too, but I'll still be happy even if there are limits of some sort.
How did they handle the baby part in the new Mineral Town game? Didn't play that one, but saw that they included same « Chicken Hugging » marriage. That makes me very hopeful. Especially considering that RF is the more mature series of the two.

The harvest goddess gives you one of the extra babies she just happens to randomly have on hand. Cuz, y'know, sometimes you just happen to have an extra baby on hand.runefactor wrote:Hey Rope! If they do have s/s marriage AND the option to still have a baby, I imagine there will be some form of adoption.
Or at least I would hope so.

^lol! And straight pairings just have children the classic Harvest Moon way? While the s/s pairings just skip the pregnancy part? Interesting... Maybe in RF a dragon « Harvest Goddess » could give you a baby or something. I don't really care too much how it's done, but I really want it in the game. Reinhardt and silver haired girl are sooooo dreamy, they're by far my favourites so far, but everyone looks so good. I'm so hyped.
@Brosey, who do you like so far?

If everyone is bi, then that means instead of the 5 person harem in RF4 you can have a freaking 10 person harem here and never stop going on dates!
Tbh I headcanon that in the RF universe it's a normal, accepted part of culture to be dating multiple people at one time if you want. I always headcanon that my harem has complicated relationships among themselves as well

Spoiler:
Yeah, while giving individual characters preferences is more realistic, everyone should just be bi in these games. Adoption is always valid when it comes to kids.
After briefly playing Rune Factory 4 Special again last night, I'm looking forward to basically any improvement to the system in 5. Thank goodness they changed fishing.
It might just be the handheld's system limitations, but the fishing is kinda annoying in 4 to me. Also I've noticed that they haven't shown off the house. They've shown us the fields which thankfully assuaged my fears of Oceans' method of farming was going to be used. But I really hope they fixed the uh... decoration part. The zero grid placement really was annoying. Also buying individual cooking tools was also annoying. I just hope the kitchen in this game is a full kitchen and they don't try to sell us individual tools again. Or at least cut down on the amount that we'd need to buy and provide materials for. Admittedly I can't remember how they did it in Frontier and Oceans/Tides, but I think each area of the house had a place for that work station and it was installed in predetermined places. Admittedly the castle decoration was really... Annoying to deal with, so I wouldn't complain if they went back to how it was handled.
I really am curious where they put the farm this time. It seems like the farming takes place on the back of a dragon, so I wonder where the MC's house is...
