Murakumo:
Thank you for the links! Fuka did have baby voice as I feared but I guess we needed a new Amber to go with pink Kiel. Continuing to love Murakumo though, great voice for him!

I really like both of their designs. Murakumo is definitely shaping up to be my fav at this point.

I already loved them both, but this really seals the deal for me. Fuka doesn't sound much different from what I had guessed, to be honest. Murakumo's voice is deep like I expected, but his inflection is much softer than I would have guessed

Murakumo? That was the name of (one of the best) master quartz in Trails of Cold Steel. Other master quartz have had names like Oberon, Titania, Moebius, Mirage, Genesis, Thor, Angel, etc, so I'm assuming Murakumo is something significant, too...probably something dark, going by the fact that it was the name of one of the time quartz. But I don't know what/who a murakumo is.

Is his name scary or impressive, if you know Japanese? Does it suggest anything about him?

He has a really cool design. Wasn't expecting him to be the inn-keeper.

There are times where individual orientations works out well enough (DA is fine) but imo this series would do better with everyone being bi imo.
LOL, well in a game where I can eat bread to learn recipes, I don't know if much of 'irl' really applies here, but if there is s/s relationships I'm sure they'll come up with something.

I love the chipsqueek girl. Hope I like her personality also. The wolf man looks awesome as well. Generally I just steer towards humans in these games, but I may make an exception here.

The girl kind of reminds me of Lauca from Avalon Code, who I romanced in that game.

I guess it could. There was actually a battle ship in WWI named the same thing (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_ ... umo_(1928)), and there they give a translation of "Massed Clouds." The kanji would be 叢雲

It's a great name. Sounds big and dark and powerful, to me, like a blinding lance of white lightning through a black sky, though admittedly a lot of that is coming from Cold Steel. I had Rean equipped with Murakumo and Domination and he'd wipe entire waves of enemies out with a single swing of his tachi. Now I am no doubt erroneously expecting Murakumo from RF5 to be a monster of a fighter, lol. (Watch him actually be a total puppy of a guy, heh.)

Arg, okay, I was already very interested in Martin and Butterfly Man, and quite interested in Reinhart, and now I've gotta be interested in Murakumo, too? This is shaping up to be RF4 all over again, in terms of how hard it is to pick a guy.

...

Dang, I'm all aboard the Murakumo train. I love his design and his description and seiyuu sound great!

I really love that he's the innkeeper too.

My Japanese isn't all that good, so I simply cleaned up the Google Translation.

Fuka (CV: Aki Toyosaki)
The were animal, “Fuka”, is unable to read or write human language yet, but it seems that she can intuitively understand the lies that others have told her.

Murakami (CV: Shunsuke Takeuchi)
The were animal, "Murakumo," who runs the inn, is a hearty and rough person, but he is an innkeeper with a humane and humorous personality.

It seems like these two are the East Asian themed bathhouse characters of the game. Their names are in hiragana like Hina's. Also, does anyone know what "漢気に溢れた" means (overflowing with something)? I couldn't find anything about it on the Internet and it was translated as "humorous."

I can't tell you what the Japanese means, but when I saw 'humane' and 'humorous' being used as an adjectives for a person, I figured it meant something along the lines of kind (or empathetic) and jolly or jovial. Or maybe that he's the type to crack jokes a lot? Wonder if that's what he'll turn out to be, on top of 'rough and hearty'. He does look like the type. :)

I'm impressed we got more characters this quickly. Going off last week, then the website should probably update by Wednesday and then Gematsu will put out their translations... I wonder if we'll get the candidates every Monday until they're out then. That seems kinda... Rushed considering the game won't come out until next May. Because after this, we have like 2 more sets of reveals until they're all accounted for. Although there is still a lot we don't know about the game...

As for Murakumo, his name can also be traced back to the original name of the Kusanagi no Tsurugi which was the Ame no Murakumo no Tsurugi. I remember this because one of the best weapons in Dark Cloud 2 is just straight up the Ame no Murakumo. Ah, the popular myths that end up in games.

I'm not all that interested in either Fuka or Murakumo, but they're still pretty cool. Glad Murakumo ended up nicer than I originally thought he would. That screenshot of him from the opening didn't exactly say "nice dude".

Okay now I'm hooked. I had mentioned the beast girl Lauca from Avalon Code above. She was also primitive in speech and writing and it was the lies of humans that upset her. There's apparently a lot more parallels here going on than I originally thought. I definitely have my eye on her now.
