Weeeell...I've probably dropped my playthrough of Link Between Worlds...and of all things, for Genshin Impact. (Did NOT imagine myself playing this game...feels weird even mentioning it.) Didn't know it was even on PC until I watched a streamer play it and finally got curious.

I don't care...one bit...about the characters. I spend most of my time playing the default protag. I'm still enjoying rolling what gacha points the game throws at me out of pure curiosity (haven't seen any of the characters not on banners), but the exploration/combat is very fun. I think Genshin is a better hold over for BotW2 for me than Hyrule Warriors. We'll see how long it lasts, but...right now...I'm having fun.

Enough fun to skip days in ACNH. I did luck out earlier, logged on and Redd was in town. Two weeks in a row! Hot damn!

I really liked Genshin Impact when I started it, too. Wasn't moved at all by the characters or story, since they felt lacklustre, but I liked exploring. But once I'd unlocked all the anemo and geo statues I could and etc, I totally lost interest, since the characters/story weren't helping to hold it. I'm probably just going to delete it back off my PS4, now. I might have been more motivated if I'd been able to get Diluc, whose fighting style has a lot of clout, and I enjoy easily winning fights so it would have been more fun controlling him, but I'm not gonna spend money on gambling, and my luck with that sort of thing is never particularly good. *shrug*

I think I am now done the Age of Calamity demo. I actually really like it...love Zelda and Impa with bombs, they do so much damage so fast, much more than Link (Link seems underpowered compared to them, though I really do like his shield surfing through crowds of enemies, knocking them flying like bowling pins.)

I've finished every battle on the map...the Champion areas are restricted and cannot be done in the demo. I have one stable and two cooking pots left that I could unlock, but I'm unable to get the ingredients to do so. I'd need 4 amaranth, 4 mighty thistle, 5 bladed rhino beetles, and one or two other things that don't seem to be available to me right now. So I think I'm done, even though there was no formal 'end' to the demo. I just ran out of new things to try on the map. Link and Impa are level 8 and Zelda is level 7, so I'm ready to head into a Champion area as soon as I get the full game. Not sure who I'll go for first. My heart says Mipha. Assuming this shrivelled raisin-y thing I've got is a heart, that is...

~

I really want to play Pikmin 3. I'm surprised how much I want to keep playing it. It's all the more tempting because I have nothing else to play right now...my backlog has been eliminated, and they still haven't shipped my copy of Cold Steel IV, in spite of telling me it's been in stock for 4-5 days already. Watch it get here right on November 5th, when I'll just have started Cafe Enchante.

I'd check my local game store to see if they have Cold Steel IV on the shelves, then cancel my online order if they did have it, but my local game store is Walmart. The only carry the most mainstream of stuff...I've never seen any of the other games in the series being carried there.

I'm doing my best to take Genshin Impact as slooooowly as possible. It's a great fallback game for when I just want a lil somthin' and not commit. It's getting an update soon that finishes the story in Liyue and opens up new areas +adds more characters to the gacha, but we probs wont be getting significant updates until 2.0 launches. There's a lot of the map that's stuck in red atm waiting to be filled in, and I don't wanna get to the point of waiting for it to open up, so lollygaging is my current pace. I love both Venti and Sucrose both as characters and play styles a lot. Having two Anemo characters on my team is kinda throwing off my combos, but I can get by easily enough making fire tornados if need be. The game is raking in tons of money, so it'll probs be around for years to come if you ever want to go back to it, Kiki.

---

I'm basically only playing Hades and Dragon Quest X right now, but I really don't have a ton of time to play anything. That being said, there's gonna be a dry spot for games (for me specifically) starting next year until March, so I don't see any reason not to stockpile a bit of a backlog to fall back on. Not gonna keep a list or anything, but if I'm out of games and I don't have any muns, I'll be checking my 'redownload' list first. Hades is a delight so far and I hope it lasts me awhile, while Dragon Quest X's language barrier might make me quit if I get too lost. Regardless, Hades and Age of Calamity are most likely going be that last two games this year that I commit to while I dabble in whatever else. I am TRYING REALLY HARD to ignore the Steam sale going on right now, because the Umineko games are on sale and I've always wanted to play them. *grugle* must RESIST!

On a fun note, I'm going to be playing Oxenfree with my husband tonight for Halloween. I'm really looking forward to his reactions and choices he makes in the narrative!

I have four town events left to trigger and I'm now worried I may have glitched my game with trying to marry Dylas. So I have Barrels of Fun, A Day in Leon's Life, Smile Practice, and Mood Reversal Medicine left. I'm in the middle of A Stage Without an Audience.

Maybe I'm just unlucky and Dylas's Smile Practice is gonna be the last event I trigger or maybe there's a glitch where his event won't trigger if I started dating him before Smile Practice activated.

It's been a while since I played, but in the 3DS version at least, I'm positive I triggered Smile Practice after dating Dylas. Because one character teases you for being on a date, and iirc the dialogue didn't change to address that we actually were dating, which made it stand out to me. So chances are your event triggers have just been unlucky (I know I've had similar luck on some files). Hope you manage to get it soon!

The event triggers are just unlucky; I've triggered Dylas's Smile Practice while dating Leon before, and while I wasn't dating anyone. Sometimes you just get lucky with the events you don't want; I'm currently trying to marry Doug and for some reason I'm triggering Margaret and Arthur's events instead. Only missing his secret though and once I get that done, I can get married! ...I just hope it doesn't happen in the middle of Christmas like my 3ds version though. I couldn't ask him out that day because of the event.

Yeah, I finally got it to trigger. It's one of the last three events now. I just never triggered it this late before. It's usually one of the first events I trigger.

Taking advantage of the Steam Halloween sale, I picked up Changeling for a fitting spooky Samhain game. I'm having a lot of fun with it, finished with three of the six routes so far. What I have learned is that apparently I'm much better with werewolves than with vampires; I got the friendship route for both of the vamp routes in the game and the werewolf, I get romance first try. Eh, can't complain really. Wonder how I'll fare with the wizard, the esper, and the one whose head falls off at random moments...

Guess I'll have to find out!

I think there must be some streamer luck involved in getting Diluc. (The streamer I watched got him first pull...which made the chat SO happy for him.) It definitely does help finding fun characters to play as... It's been very fun for me to play around with fighting styles - helps encourage you to fight things. Sucrose might have my favorite 'specials' so far.

I'd really enjoy seeing some of this style of combat in BotW2. I'm honestly enjoying Genshin's combat more than the original.

All else I've done gaming wise is AC Halloween. It's a shame most of the holidays haven't been up to this quality standard. But at least Halloween has been fun.

I really want to buy Divinity Original Sin, but I had adult stuff to do, so I can't.

I just did the Halloween Event for Animal Crossing and got all the stuff. Now I've got leftover candy and one lollipop for next time.

I really hate how impatient I was for Dylas's event, but I got it and triggered his marriage event soon after. I can only hope there's a new event system in place for Rune Factory 5.

I think once I'm done with RF4S again, I'm gonna boot up Story of Seasons Friends of Mineral Town again and go for all the achievements and get the mythic tools. Once that's done (and I'm done with Spidermand Miles Morales and Cyberpunk 2077) I'll start a new file and have Claire marry Marie.

Edit: Got my kid with Dylas; his baby talk is really funny and I like how he accepts that my kid isn't going to have boys over no matter my kid's gender. Time to go back to Story of Seasons Friends of Mineral Town and try to get those 15 missing achievements.

Well...Cold Steel IV finally shipped! I was very annoyed to see that right when they were shipping...nearly a week after release...the price went down five dollars, which was not applied to my order. However! This morning I got an email that they had refunded me nearly six dollars on the price to match the lowest price. I didn't think they would, given the timeline. But maybe they only said it was in stock up until now...maybe yesterday was the first time they really DID have it in stock to begin mailing out, which is why the price got finalized then, too? Dunno, but at least I'm getting the game 1 day earlier than they predicted, and 5-6$ cheaper. It'd have been a full $10 more if I had cancelled my order and gone digital, as I wanted to with how they had the game listed as in-stock for nearly a full week but wouldn't ship it to me.

Secret is...I'm not even in the mood to play Cold Steel. *cry* I'm sure I'll find it really interesting once I start playing it, but my anticipation for the series dried up with III, it seems. I liked it, but didn't love it, unlike the first two, and I guess that just changed the whole experience for me. I don't know.

I'm in an awkward place with gaming right now, having finished the Pikmin demo and the Age of Calamity demo, but unable to continue on to the full game in either even though I WANT to. And CSIV coming up in two days, but not really in the mood to play it. And my backlog is complete...no games left to work on. Awkward, awkward, awkward.

With all the Olive Town talk, I'd love to begin replaying any or all of ANB, SoS, or Trio, but I don't have time to fit those replays in before I'd be picking up Cafe Enchante and CSIV...I'd just have to put it down again, and for weeks, losing my place, so, I can't do that either. I am stuck in an AWKWARD GAMING PLACE, I tell you!

That's exactly why I went back to Friends of Mineral Town. I can't believe Olive Town is coming out almost 5 months! It's a bit unreal to me because we've had to wait so long and now there's only a month difference between our release and Japan's.

I hope the same can be said about Rune Factory 5, but I'm not holding my breath on that; I'm probably gonna spend multiple weeks just playing Olive Town.

Yeah, the turnaround is a bit shocking. First time this has ever happened, afaik. They must already have been working on Olive Town for quite a while before they announced it. But that means we may be getting dribbles of news continually every few weeks from now until then...I hope so!

My gaming problem is solved. Even though it only said it shipped last night, and was due to arrive Wednesday, Cold Steel IV arrived TODAY. Which is lucky, cuz I need something...my entire body hurts. My shins are driving me crazy, lol. I don't know why everything hurts so much, but ow...I need something to take my mind off of it.

Though I think I'll go for a mosey, first, to soak up the icy sunshine. We're hovering at the day's high right now...about 30F. No better time today than now!

I believe they did announce Story of Seasons back when the Switch was first revealed (either that or at E3) with just the name standing by it. It wouldn't be a stretch to say it's been in development for at least 3 or 4 years.
