Cute! I've had awful luck with furniture so far, I'm jealous.Nurse Fin wrote:@Anabel - lol I will respond to any name. Nurse Fin, Nurse, Fin, Nurfin... generally just Fin is the easiest though
Even the smallest size house is pretty roomy! No longer looks like a hoarder’s nest. I LOVE having total control over object placement!! Hanging stuff on the wall is my new favorite thing. Now if only my actual room looked this fresh and inviting...

I ended up on an island full of respawning tarantulas. It's quite the money maker!
I got knocked out a million times but it was worth it. 98k bells for just these, wish I filled out my entire inventory but I wanted the mats.
Spoiler:
Oranges...just hearing the word makes me salivate a little. It's the only AC fruit that makes me hungry just to hear about it, for some reason (even though I don't like to eat oranges, irl...I find it hard to get a good one and I hate peeling them.)
Got myself a shower of shooting stars this evening! I wished on at least a dozen of them. I hope to get lots of goodies tomorrow

Spoiler:
I'd imagine QR codes are just a later game thing...iirc (from the direct). There's too many cute designs from New Leaf to just let go!
Also, I am very jealous of all of you who have houseplants.
Edit:
I've made a few discoveries tonight (some maybe obvious, though.)
For newbies! If you've been itching to organize your inventory, to move things around click and hold the A button to pick up items! (That one was driving me nuts.)
And for everybody...cause I don't think I've seen this on Twitter even? Apparently fish tanks are stackable now. Discovered that one by accident!
I also oopsed. Hopefully that wasn't a good present...
Edit:
Holy crow...:O I saw something like that on Twitter, I had no idea they RESPAWN! So tarantulas are the new bug island. Good to know!Panda Parfait wrote:I ended up on an island full of respawning tarantulas. It's quite the money maker!

I've been stacking my fish and bugs from day one thanks to having to store them all outside at first, waiting on Blathers, lol. Thank goodness they DO stack or it'd be a much bigger mess.
Turns out I have wished on THIRTY stars, because I just got TWO Nook Miles rewards for it. They have nice keywords, too. The first one has something about meteorite, and the second one are Wishful and Legend.
Anyway I think I can stop wishing on stars and concentrate on fishing now. And I'm gonna go visit two more islands today, I think. I haven't tried visiting any at night before.

Pretty much all my houseplants were from balloons, but the succulents are a DIY recipe you unlock from fishing up empty cans. I’ve also gotten furniture recipes from message bottles on the beach.
Found my first recruited villager for my island today, Merengue (my starting neighbors are Agnes and Coach). So far I haven’t met any other animals I want to take home (out of a dozen or so island trips) but it’s nice to be able to be choosy.

Ooh! I thought I was on the infinite tarantula island too, for a minute, because there were two of them there (that or one respawned right away) but it turned out to be a normal island. I got a few more coconuts, but no other good fruit. Just some roses and emperor butterflies...and 'man-faced stinkbugs'. But Flora was there! I like her...I tend to like villagers I think are 'pretty' or cool-looking more than 'cute'...so I invited her to my island. That makes two I've invited.
I got a 'Newton's Cradle' furniture item from a cedar tree, too. I have no idea what that is...I'll have to put it in my house to see. (Well, I have an idea what it might be, but it's definitely no better than a guess.)
EDIT: The Newton's Cradle turned out to be exactly what I thought it was. One of those perpetual-motion toys with the hanging metal balls that bang into each other.

Oh...maybe I got the name wrong? The villager I got was a deer. I'll look her up and see. Maybe rather than Flora, it was Fauna? That would make sense...
I got Phoebe as a villager on my second (of 5) resets on starting, but everything else about that reset was bad, so I couldn't keep her.
EDIT: Went to another island that was a total bust...the villager was named Jacob (which tempted me since that's my bro-in-law) but he wasn't my type. Went to a third island, full of bamboo, which I grabbed a bunch of...and got a little goat fellow named Sherb, whom I DID invite. But he said something I don't understand...
I can only guess that he means spaghetti. Never heard that one. In my house we call it 'sketti'. Pasgetti is harder to say than spaghetti.

Well, GameStop shipping came through and I did get it yesterday. I started with Cherry and Buck, named my island Jurai, and the town fruit is peaches. Yesterday was laying a lot of the foundation, I got ditched the tent pretty much immediately for a house. I really like decorating outdoors...
Today, I spent the morning dealing with Blathers, and then the later part of the day hanging out with friends. I also managed to hunt down 3 villagers I liked on the mystery tours: Flurry, Erik, and Maddie. I've also got Nookling Junction being built tomorrow as well as the actual Museum and not just a tent. So far, so good all things considered. I can also get the first house extension tomorrow if I want to, but right now my house is pretty cozy.
A friend's been time travelling, so she had Able Sisters in her town already. I was so happy to get a change of clothes. I gotta admit, I do like the dressing room mechanic they added. It really helps me out a lot seeing these things on my character before I buy them.

If you just build the houses, the game randomly selects a villager from that pool and shoves them in there. I got Sally (Normal, house 3 with Wood items) and Cookie (Peppy, house 2 with Block items) from doing the first two houses and then I was able to be choosy about my Lazy villager... of course the very first island I went to had Zucker, so I nabbed him immediately for House 1 with Fruit items.
All in all, I consider that extremely lucky. I have five villagers that I've never had before, and they're all cute as heck! Sally is a squirrel so now I have a rabbit AND a squirrel, Cookie is one of (if not THE) cutest dogs, and Zucker is a takoyaki themed octopus, I mean what's not to love?
Full museum and my first house expansion will happen tomorrow, along with a present from Gulliver. I'm so excited!
I've already changed my eyebrows to be less neon, but here's my current look:

Nice to know that new villagers moving in happens on the same timeline whether you invite them yourself, or just let those spaces be filled by random animals. All the houses are built the same, too, as I also had one house with block items, one house with natural wood items, and one with fruit items.
Wow, today was an exciting day in Windfall. Woke up to find my fellow islanders now had full-sized houses! And they are so very stylish, it makes me jealous...my house looks like doodoo compared to theirs, in the exterior. Even though I have upgraded my house once already. I may be able to get a second house upgrade today if I bustle about making money today. I collected loads of star fragments this morning...15+, anyway. Though I don't have anything to use them in at this point.
Full museum is under construction with 34 new items wanting donated already, lol, Nook's Cranny was completed and I can now buy lots of new stuff including wallpaper, finally, and I had to place bridges and houses and stuff. Climbed all over my high cliffs and got three new bugs that haven't appeared for me before. (Um...praying mantis, ladybug and orchid beetle. I think.) My three villagers that I invited will be occupying these houses tomorrow...or at least ONE of them will. Not sure if all three move in on the same day. And finally my pre-existing villagers are following normal schedules. While they were in tents, they just wandered around all day and never had anything interesting to say. Now I can visit them in their homes and Reneigh is still sleeping, as she should be...it just feels much more settled, now!
So my town now has Reneigh and Hamlet, plus Peanut, Fauna and Sherb. That gives me five personality types. The first person I'm going to invite to my town via amiibo (once I get the campsite built) is definitely WILLOW, who will be my first snooty. And after that, possibly Bruce or Walt for my cranky. Really not sure about a 'Smug' villager. I'd love to have the new guy, Raymond, but I doubt I can swing that. Of the cards I have, I could invite Huck or Henry, but maybe I can get a good 'Smug' guy via the campsite or islands, without having to use amiibo.
Got a few turnips from Baby Joan, but just one stack, as I've never really dealt in them before. Looking forward to having access to a clothing shop, but I can't tell yet how that's gonna work.
I also caught a fish that scared me when it started to come out of the water...I thought it was a sea monster!

Was it an oarfish?! I got one of those last night. They're so awesome. XD (Clipped the video of it coming out of the water.)Kikki wrote:I also caught a fish that scared me when it started to come out of the water...I thought it was a sea monster!
Got the full museum today - and I love it. :D That's probably been my biggest time sink so far, donating things one at a time to see the fun facts. <3 Aside from that I've just been saving up money for building projects. No intention of paying off my loan until I can't stand my teeny tiny room anymore, I'd rather have the money.
With that I think I've officially settled into the Animal Crossing groove! I'm gonna start taking all the cats out on to the patio every morning - most of them get scared with nobody out there, so if I spend my morning on the Switch it's a win win.
