Also finally had the opportunity to buy normal clothes since Mabel was at the plaza. Hopefully she's going to open up the permanent shop soon.

I have to agree about the tools, Kikki. I'm fine with crafting furniture and stuff, but having to have a steady supply of materials just to remake your tools over and over is a bit tedious. I'm still only on the second tier of tool quality (...there are higher tiers, right?) so I'm sure it will get better, but right now it feels like I'm constantly getting interrupted because I have to remake my tools. I'm tempted to just carry around a workbench in my pockets so it's less of a hassle, but I hate wasting so much inventory space just so I can make tools on the go. Maybe I'll just make a bunch of workbenches and put them all over the island lol.

There've GOTTA be higher tiers of tools, though I haven't seen anyone saying they have them, yet, even the people who had the game about a month early for review purposes. Still. "Flimsy" tools and "pretty good" tools. Pretty good can't be the best! Definitely saving up my gold, hoping it'll be useful for some very good or great tools. Maybe we'll get the recipes as a reward for a 5-star island?

Felicity is the peppy villager I want most...if I have to oust Peanut for her later, I will. (Peanut is a squirrel and thus quite cute, but I don't like her magenta colour of fur, I want softer, more natural-looking villagers.) Not sure how that works, but I have Felicity's card, so if it works like New Leaf did with campers, then I should be able to do that. :)

I can't wait to buy more clothes! I've gotten lucky and gotten some decent ones from balloons. My current 'thick stripe' shirt really suits my fancy as it makes me look like a big bumble bee (if only I had black pants or skirt!) But I could really do with new shoes. I like having just a white windflower in Alizée's grey-blue hair (trying to go with 'windy' themes as much as I can...blues, greys, white, a bit of purple and black.) but some wigs might be cute. (I prefer a hairstyle with bangs...looks cuter on my character, at least.) Mabel's been by once to confirm that she'll be on the island periodically, but the sooner I get her shop, the better.

Looking forward to getting my New Horizon's guide, too.

Bleh, I can't find much information about better tools either. I guess we're stuck with the ones we have for a long time, huh? That kind of sucks. I know golden tools are a thing, but they take a lot of work to unlock and apparently also break. Guess I will be putting lots of workbenches around the island.

Aww, I like Peanut! I get your reasoning though, especially because her fur seems to be brighter than its ever been in this game. Are we able to oust villagers we don't want eventually? I mean, I don't mind Cobb, but I'll gladly kick him out to make room for someone else.

So jealous of you guys getting decent stuff from balloons! I'm getting such garbage, like barbells and bidets. Also literal garbage because I've fished up so much trash that I can now turn my home into the dump.

I did manage to get some cute clothes today but I want new shoes too, I'm still wearing the ones I started the game in.

Can confirm the order is not based on which house you complete first. I placed 2, then 3 then 1, furnished 2 first, and 1 was moved into first. (I'm very glad I picked Marina now...her eyebrows are the best. ;o;)

Has anybody else had Harvey show up yet? I'll have to check out his island later...very curious what that's about.

Got to play a bit more today - had to go out to pick up pet food, but I took the cats and the Switch out when I got back and it was finally raining! :D (Coelacanth, check!) Harvey showed up with the rain, so I haven't tried it yet.

Oh, I had Harvey show up yesterday! The main room in his place is so seedy looking lmao. His island is pretty useless for me personally (...probably why I forgot I even went there), but it's cool if you're into taking pictures.

Aaaah so that's the picture island from the direct, then. I might use it a few times, but I imagine that'll be much more fun once you have a wider selection of villagers and things to dress them up in!

Tools, my sister said something about you can get better tools from the atm. Cuz she said she got real tools. Let me go ask her what she has done.

Edit here’s what she said.
you have to buy it with your nook miles at the atm thing, it costs like 3,000 nook miles

Those are just the 'pretty good tools' recipes, Shan. They unlock quite early on. They're better and take two or three times as long to break, but they do still break much more quickly than I'd like. I did see one thing about a golden axe...it's being said that breaking 100 axes will unlock it. Dunno if that's true or not.

What the heck is up with utility poles, btw? This morning Reneigh ran up to give me a gift in honour of Sherb moving in, and told me to put it up somewhere...and handed me a utility pole (furniture). It's HUGE...sticks 2-3 spaces above the roofline. Then later, Hamlet also gave me a utility pole. I put them both up, though I don't love the way they look since they're all industrial. I'll leave them there for now since I don't know what's going on with the giving of utility poles all of a sudden, lol

I think it rained while I wasn't playing, cuz I have a double rainbow now. Pooh, it'll probably be a year before I get a coelacanth, like it always seems to take in AC games for me. Oh well, at least I get nice clothes from balloons. Got a lace skirt and a fringe skirt and a thick stripe shirt and most recently I got an oversized print dress (it's blue with overlaping square outlines all over it.)

Yeah but she said they last longer.

They do, but we were talking about the flimsy tools and the 'pretty good' tools and saying how we wished there was something better than both of those sets...neither set lasts nearly long enough not to be frustrating at times. So we've been looking for information on something beyond the 'pretty good' tool set but have found very little, except a few references to gold tools, as I mentioned last time, with needing to break an axe 100 times to get the gold axe recipe. (Maybe. I can't verify that.)

~

I've got nearly every fish that can be caught in March. Just a small handful left to grab, though I'm pretty sure they've wrongly included nibble fish...I don't think it can be caught in March at all. So I just have the stringfish left. (And the coelacanth and barreleye, but those are both year-round, so I don't really need to catch them now.) And meanwhile, my villagers are doing something weird. At first it was just Reneigh, but then Hamlet went by and started doing the same thing.

Is it just me or does the wind look...just too real? The trees look like they’re going to fall down and that scares me just a little XD

So I opened my island to randoms for a bit and visited some others and I have to say, the online competent of this game really isn't well suited for gatherings of randos. You can't join or leave if anyone has any menus open (their phone, typing a message, buying things, etc.) and for the people already there, you can barely do anything as people try to join or leave over and over. Also if you disconnect nothing you bought or picked up is saved, which is a bummer because I bought some cute clothes from the Able Sisters and some flowers...

On the bright side I earned a ton of Nook Miles and have just about every fruit now.

I actually like the online thing lol

I had trouble with online, too. I've only been to Shan's, but even then...I couldn't leave! The dodo guy kept telling me that someone must be using their Nookphone or something, so I couldn't leave unless I just kept trying, or if I went and asked anyone else to stop doing anything (opening menus, crafting, etc) for a minute until I was gone. It took me several minutes to finally depart, lol. I found it frustrating. I'll probably only ever use online with my sisters from now on, as I can talk to them directly when I do, no need for chat or anything.
