I bet a Pikmin Jamboree would make you wonder if you really ought to play the game again, lol, since that'd be quite the thing to entirely miss noticing!
Bluie wrote:One of the things that would get me playing again is bringing back Brewster + Gyroids. Once I finished paying off my house, got my town the way I liked, and got all the fossils in the museum, I lost interest to continue. But adding a NPC that isn't bound to a season with collectibles available year round would 100% tickle my fancy. I already put over 100 hours into the game regardless, so it's not a huge deal if I end up going back to it or not, but some more QoL improvements and non seasonal events would be such a nice thing to have. At this point, if I ever do get the urge to come back and complete what's already there, I'll just be time traveling / season hopping.
I'm almost positive, and always have been, that there is at least one more upgrade for the museum, and for Nookling's, as well. Each of them still has what look like 'placeholders' on the outside, to me. Nookling's is still on a platform that makes it look like it's going to grow outward another quarter-to-half square in every direction, and the museum's decorations still look unfinished (like the banners.)
I've always wanted more in the museum. For example, I had a gyroid room in New Leaf, but it was just one room jammed as full as possible of gyroids. I'd LOVE if they made an actual display or habitat for them, to donate similar to how you donate fossils. That'd be so fun!
I would also have liked to be able to donate nature items like flowers (including hybrids) and shells, and now crops. It could be the nature wing. I'd be so much more motivated to go after all the hybrids, if that was a thing. Though I really don't think they're going to do that. I also kinda don't think they'll add a gyroid wing. I think they'll add gyroids back eventually, but probably won't make them things you can donate to the museum, even though they are of plenty of cultural interest. I do think they'll add a cafe, though I don't know if it'll be in the museum or a standalone building. And I think they're going to add more crops, I just don't know where/when/why, since they only added pumpkins up until now (woulda thought they'd put more in for Turkey Day, can't think of what other reason they'd add them in, at this point.)
Well anyway, I'm very bored with ACNH...I need new content and a lively town scene to keep me interested. I'm currently only playing to complete the museum, so I only go on for a minute each weekday to see if Redd is there. (If he's not, I just turn the game off.) In March I'll nab a firefly squid and a spider crab, and the sea critters exhibit will be done. *shrug*

Pudding is made! Gotta roast some mini potatoes and onions to go with the chana masala, but that's better done at noon, so for now I need to grab my game and go hustle and grab me some winter seeds. Blue rose is definitely going to be the winter money crop. Gotta do my best to brand that baby up and make it stupidly profitable. I have soft fields and water twice per day, so if I don't miss any days, in theory I can get 3 plantings of blue roses this winter.

In Animal Crossing: New Leaf (3DS), I did some daily stuff, got more money in preparation to get my first house upgrade (and in turn unlock Kapp'n/The Island), and I caught a bee/wasp (also got stung).
I did my daily workout in Fitness Boxing 2. So far, I've done 3 days total.
I also played an hour of the Steam Prison demo on Switch. I'm not finished with it yet, and really enjoying it. It may be worth it to get it on Switch (it's also on Steam and cheaper than the Switch version), but it may run better on Switch, includes the DLC in the price, and extra content. Steam Prison is $69.49 US right now on Switch and available for pre-order. On Steam, the Steam Prison bundle is $42.73 US.
Should I wait for it to go on sale on Switch?
Also, has anyone else played Steam Prison?
Spoiler:
Today's demo goals:
1) Steam Prison demo
2)Ephemeral Fantasy on Dark trial version
3) Kirby Fighters 2 demo (???)

I've played Steam Prison, and thought it was okay, though it'll never rank among my favourites...I definitely wouldn't be paying $50 or more for it. There's not a lot of chance that a game will ever run better on Switch than on PC, unless your PC is extremely old. Computers are the most powerful gaming platforms in existence, that I know of (even though I prefer dedicated gaming consoles due to controllers and set-up.) Even on my laptop with no dedicated graphics card, it ran flawlessly. (Unless you mean something specific by 'better'.)
~
So, gave Ludus a Tod Man Pla or deep fried fishie thing (I can't remember, but it's his favourite, and even though it's called 'deep-fried' it is not in the fried/grilled category, but rather the POT category. Took me forever to locate it.) and his flower went from dark blue to that horrible light green, which was very handy, because it was a day when I was able to trigger his green event. Ran out of the screen and back again, and boom, there it was.
Then the next day the pendant was available. Bought it, ran to see Ludus, and hey...he instantly wanted a private chat with Pepper (my MC's name this go-round.) He asked her to be his girlfriend, and she gave him the pendant because she thought that sounded good, and now he's calling her Pip. (I like nicknames that are derivatives of their real name, but sound like they have some additional personal meaning to them. I had already imagined conditions under which Ludus might end up calling Pepper 'Pip', so...went with it!)
That was easy. And now I don't have to worry about the wrong candidate love events triggering any more, though there are still a lot of friend events to get. Winter crops are going well and everything is proceeding pretty smoothly. Kinda feel like loading my last DQB2 save where I had juuuuust completed the story and still had 15 or so Tablet Targets left to fulfil, plus several material islands to conquer.
I'm not feeling very loyal in my gaming these days; I normally force myself to play what I think I should be playing, but this last month or two I've thrown that out the window and am just playing whatever the heck I WANT to play at that moment.
Feels vaguely unreasonable, though I'm not sure why, lol. After all, they're games, meant for playing.

@Kikki: I've experienced this before and still experience it when I finished a game I was invested to. I didn't know how I overcome it but I do remember playing some old games that I got me into gaming. Have you tried doing this? Or try a new genre that you don't usually play?

Thank you
For me it's probably that winter...particularly the major lack of sunlight...just does a number on my motivation, making my brain feel like it's stuffed with wool and convincing me that I'm a bear and supposed to be in hibernation, which is why every little thing is so bloody hard to do that it takes buckets of willpower to get even the smallest things done. I've had this for 3 winters running, now, and it gets a bit worse every year. Modafinil does help clear my head somehow, but it upsets my digestive system too much to take it every day.
I think my complete lack of motivation just makes me want to play games I'm already comfortable with/good at, without having to think too much or learn new mechanics. Of course, if it doesn't pass by March, April at the latest, then I'll know I need to look into other potential issues.
I am going to try the Monster Hunter demo soon. I don't want to and hadn't intended to, but people kept saying it was all story-oriented and so fun, so I figured hey, what the heck, it's a free demo...why not try it? So I'm gonna, though I don't have any expectations for it since for me the previous MH demo provided no enjoyment at all.
Tried the Balan Wonderworld demo today and no, thank you. It's a platformer? Or something Mario-esque? Totally, utterly not my thing. Played 5 minutes and then deleted it, lol.
Provided my baby sister with 9 games the other day, that was fun. It's nice to get extra use out of your games. She's lucky; she doesn't have to spend much on gaming with me around, and I know what she likes, so she doesn't have to scrounge around to find something new to play. She played Hades, and then Pikmin 3, and now is trying out RF4S, which were all new to her since she doesn't follow game news. It's nice to know she's got some fun stuff on hand.

Whatever gets you through winter, Kikki, do it! Easier said than done not to feel any guilt over it though...I think we've all got some societal impositions about the 'right way' to play games. Not that the current game release schedule is helping much. :/
--
I think at this point I'm dropping Twilight Princess. (At least taking a break...) The waggle controls just aren't doing it for me. I kinda wonder if it's the controller or some sort of issue with the Wii controllers on the WiiU? I used to defend the waggle controls and TP on the Wii generally like people do BotW on Switch...but right now they're just giving me more frustration than fun. Which is kinda sad.
I'd like to think Nintendo would do a couple of game packs porting the updated versions of games to Switch but...knowing Nintendo they'll pull a Pikmin 3 with TPHD and WWHD. And better yet make them limited time offers!
Genshin is...going? You can certainly tell when you've hit late game. I've got tons of quests left but I've got such a monster grind to ascend weapons that I honestly don't want to touch most of them for now. To be fair I got off of the game tonight because a storm was headed through and I am paranoid and always shut my desktop down during storms...
Either way, whatever the new banner turns out like, I'm racking up materials for whatever characters I get/get constellations of. :D

There aren't any games of interest to me releasing right now. Or...hmm. Maybe that's not true? Littlewood will be out any day (I already own it, thanks to the Kickstarter, I just don't have my Switch code yet.) Haven will be out on Switch in a couple days. Ys IX will be out on PS4 tomorrow. One World will be out...March 2, I think? And PoOT will be out March 23rd...that's 4 games in two months. All games I will get sooner or later, though I'm putting off new game purchases until my brain fog lifts. But gaming news has definitely been thin on the ground. I don't think I've heard anything exciting in the gaming world at all in 2021, yet.
Maybe gaming is considered an even more frivolous way to spend time than the average hobby? Like if you're into art or knitting or any kind of crafting, or dancing or skiiing, etc, they're all 'constructive' ways to spend time...even reading is considered constructive to some degree...but gaming is considered a waste of time where you get nothing accomplished, so we have to make rules for ourselves to justify it? I always feel like replaying old games is wasting my time even when it's what I want to do, lol, because if I play something new, I'm getting something done...a game completion. But if I've already played it, I'm just being totally indulgent. It's a bit of an odd way of thinking but I don't think I'm alone in that.
I hate winter even IN THE GAME. I totally forgot how gloomy it is even in here. Trio doesn't have the lovely winter music that SoS1 did, and it snows all the time, making the atmosphere all fuzzy and grey. I am dying to get out of this horrible season! I'm playing days fast right now without doing anything extra (just like real life, lol) and other than when doing farm chores, I spend all my time in Lulukoko at the moment, where I don't have to see any SNOW and the sky is almost always bright and sunny. I even take my dog there to play fetch on the beach rather than getting those few throws in at home on those frosty fields of broccoli and daikon.
It's winter in ACNH, too. Man, I can't wait for that snow to melt! Give me my green grass back! When does that happen...ah. February 25th. *siiiiiigh* 3.5 weeks to go. In the game, that is. IRL it may be more like 3 months (though we've had very little snow this year in spite of how overcast it always is...I'm afraid we may have a drought year, though at least spring would begin early.) I played ACNH yesterday and the air was full of fog (maybe it's supposed to be sublimation?) and it was GLUM.
Maybe they'll do game ports this year for LoZ's 35th anniversary like they did with the various Mario stuff last year, Mikodesu

Thanks so much Kikki. No, I didn't mean anything specifically. I appreciate your input. I also looked up text/online reviews and went through it Steam/Community page on Steam. I didn't look at any video reviews yet. Maybe I'll wait and get on sale on Switch after I finish the demo.
---
Yesterday, I played another hour or so of Steam Prison. I bet I'm close to the ending, but it did say I only had the chance to get the best ending of one of the romanceable characters, so maybe not? Also, it said the demo data was not transferrable to the full version. What a drag. I played it handheld mode and accidentally skipped ahead/fast-forwarded a few times. So, it's probably best to play it docked on TV.
Today, I played my daily dose of Animal Crossing both on New Leaf (3DS) and New Horizons (Switch).
In New Leaf, I paid off my home load for my first house expansion, meaning I can hopefully unlock Kapp'n/The Island soon.
And, in New Horizons I bought all of the new limited time items for holidays since the January update, and also for today, February (February 1st, 2021). I bought the reactions for Festivale, the Festivale confetti machine, and finally put up all my Halloween decorations. Also, I bought all the oni/ogre costumes and masks for Setsubun (Bean-throwing Festival; Japanese festival).
I plan on doing my daily exercise in Fitness Boxing 2. I figured out I have to stand a certain distance from my TV, and punch at a certain height to get the punches to register more.
Also, I plan on finishing or making more progress in the Steam Prison demo.
Does anyone know how to update/renew your subscription for Pokemon HOME? Mine expires for the Nintendo Switch version on February 10, 2021 at 6:47 PM.

I finally beat Cold Steel IV last night. Or rather, this morning. I don't even know my final play time, but my estimations were off severely. I'm probably sitting at a final playtime in the 130 hours mark. Oh well. I had fun, and I got my money's worth out of the game for sure. I suppose I pencil in the Trails in the Sky Trilogy around Spring, because I am not running through another Trails game immediately. In the meantime, I'll take a break from long form RPGs for a bit. Which means it's time for more Stardew Valley! I'll play that for a while and then play Cafe Enchante starting tomorrow or something.
I'm gonna have to go out and shovel at some point today I think, so I shouldn't get too involved with a game today.
Now for some ToCSIV thoughts:
Spoiler:
Well, the game may have been a bit too long, but it was still an enjoyable experience. I had Elliot with over 3600 ATS, so he was quite strong. I also snapped the casting in half with him, so it was super fun. Ever see a White Mage spam Golden Sphere? Seriously, Elliot would just get multiple turns over and over again. It was nuts. I loved it. I also built all 3 Evasion tanks so that they crit upon countering. Now for the gameplay/story stuff. I can't believe they actually made me feel bad for Cedric at one point... I still think he's a bit of a whiny brat, but hey, I won't be opposed to seeing him again in future games. Jusis punching Rufus out at the end there was absolutely hysterical, I loved it. Also it was sorta funny how blatantly "not the actual ending" the Normal Ending was. I was sad, but also kinda mad, so I just started it right back up again. Luckily I knew it was coming, so the game was nice enough to let me do the True Ending with minimal fuss. As an aside: Using Aurelia in any form of combat feels so broken that I actually love it. Oh, and Ash remains my favorite student of New Class VII with Kurt and Altina right behind him, and granted 4 made me like Juna a lot more than 3 did.
Can't wait for Hajimari no Kiseki and the JP release of Kuro no Kiseki.

Tried the Monster Hunter Rise demo. Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaated it. Deleted it. Bye bye! I knew I wouldn't like you, but I didn't know I wouldn't like you THAT much.
Well, that's two new demos down, and nothing to add to my wishlist. I'm okay with that. I just wanna build and customize and farm anyway. I can't even bring myself to go back to the Ys IX demo to fiddle with the camera controls until I find a setting that nauseates me the least so that I can actually complete it. That's okay; I decided to wait for the Switch version anyway and it's at least three months off, so I don't have to think about it yet.
~
Re: Cold Steel IV...I never felt fond of Cedric, and I don't really want to see him again unless certain unpleasant things happen to him if I should happen to do so. I might enjoy seeing him under some entertaining imagined circumstances.
Funnily, I'm not really looking forward to Hajimari, but I'm quite interested in Kuro. Ready to move on, I guess! Cold Steel III and IV were very good, but I only truly LOVED it in I and II and felt like I was growing away from it with the latter games, so I'm ready for a new crew and a new outlook.
~
I feel like going back to my very unfinished post-game content in DQB2 more than continuing with Trio right now. I'm in winter in Trio, argh, and I can barely stand it, lol. I want to dash through this season with all speed. Thank goodness it only has 6 crops. I need to stop trying to raise the all-seasons crops as well and keep things minimal so I can zoom through at top speed.
Sometimes it amazes me that any of you guys still read any of my hideously long, frequently repetitive posts. You're a sweet bunch. Like grapes! You guys are my grapes.

So I'm about halfway through Dust An Elysium Tail. I'm enjoying it thoroughly! Chapter 3 is getting on my nerves though with an enemy that I can't hit unless I use Fidget's magic and just hope I hit.
I'm also about 40 to 50 DIYs away from learning all the DIY recipes that are available in Animal Crossing New Horizons. It won't be finished until summer since I missed a blue shell recipe. Oh well.
I also went ahead and backed two Kickstarters that look interesting: Coral Island and Ova Magica. I could always use more farming sims to play. I can't wait for 2022; those two and Sandrock's goals are to be released next year! After being disappointed and still waiting on my Switch copy of Re:Legend though, anything is possible.

Dust was pretty good, and I hate platformers, so that's quite the thing for me to say. I think it's because of the aerial abilities. I always enjoy myself so much more with any game where you can be a flying, flipping whirl of death, it seems.
Fully updated my lists today on VillagerDB and I am still missing about 60 DIYs. A lot of them are Celeste/star DIYs, though, as I never play at night and never, ever meet her (in almost a year, I think I've run into her 3 times, and twice was because I had friends asking me to multiplayer at night. The first time was in the first month when I just couldn't put the game down so was playing it all the time.) There were 4 'festive' recipes that I was unable to get, too. I got to hate balloon camping so much that I couldn't stand it for even one more balloon. So I am missing 34 'regular' DIYs, 19 'stargazing' DIYs, and 4 'festive' DIYs, for a total of...how do I 'math' again?...57, I think that is. Oh wait, no...balloon camping has killed me multiple times, and I lost out on 3 mush-leaf recipes, too. So we're back to a round 60 that I am missing. Boo. But at least it is an easy number to remember, and I got the mermaid fence DIY today!
I don't think I will ever 'kickstart' another game after my experience with My Time at Portia. To this date, nearly two years post-console release, they have not lived up to promises for console backers, of adding in all the extra content, or even patching out all of the bugs (it's a much smoother experience now than right on release, but they're definitely not all gone). Apparently they are still working on it in some capacity, but it's been pushed back yet again and I just hate the process of kickstarting. I will only buy complete games from now on, since I grow resentful at continual pushing back of deadlines and when promises are simply not kept at all. But those things are part of being a kickstarter backer, so if you can't deal with that, you're not meant to be one. Which means I am just out, lol. No more Kickstarting for me, even though SunnySide, Ova Magica, Everafter Falls and Coral Island all look worth backing.

I was redownloading some of my older 'played over 50 hours' games of the eshop to clean out my current played list that you view on your Switch profile. I'm not sure why, but seeing a bunch of 'played for a little while' peppered through out my actual games I've put effort into bugs me. I wish it was more like the 3DS where you could organize your played games and it wasn't broadcast to the public. Anyways I periodically push games out of the list via what I've already mentioned. However, in my drowsy stupor last night, I accidentally wrote over the save file in My Time at Portia. The save file listed on my Switch was from November, which must've been from when I last did this, and I wrote over the cloud save data, thus deleting my current play through. Honestly, I'm not all that broken up about it, but it is a bit irritating. I was never going to finish it regardless, so eh. If I had done it to say my Xenoblade 2 save file, then I would've been legitimately angry.
I also wanted to pop in Breath of the Wild and Fire Emblem Three Houses to refresh the list, but we lent BoTW to my BiL and my SiL has FE3H in the sty that is her room and can't find it. I'll probably just get them again digitally so I don't have to deal with situations like this. Wish they weren't 60 USD each.
Welp, off to FFXIV. I have a 48 man raid to join.

You can hide your play activity. Hiding your online status and hiding your play activity are two separate items that confused me at first. I had my play activity hidden when I meant to have my online status hidden. For like, half a year, lol.

Thanks, Kiki, I set it to just friends. I can still see it regardless though, which still bugs me, albeit less so.

This just in, the new FFXIV content made me rage quit. Not the whole game, but the current content. I've already ranted about it before, so I'll pass on doing it again. Guess that makes it easier on which game I'll be putting my focus into. I'm looking forward to Genshin Impact's update tomorrow.
