I agree on the character designs, though I'm mostly neutral on them as they really don't do anything for me personally. To me they're 'fine' to 'oh, you're kinda cute'. However, I can see that they're trying to differentiate themselves at least partially. Not that I am defending either company here, but Hoyo ripped off Breath of the Wild's exploration mechanics almost 1:1 with Genshin Impact, which the masses initially decried (remember the bozo who smashed his PS4 in the street? lmao), but either got over it or didn't care on release because ...who cares if companies copy game mechanics, especially if there's no reason to fix what isn't broken? I personally feel the same applies here with Animal Crossing and Petit planet. If Nintendo wont monopolize the market by giving more and CAN'T stop others from doing so in their place because all their lawsuits are « Male Cow Poopoo », then, whatever. There's always going to be Nintendo 'purists', but if people want options, they're there now, high quality ones, and that's overall a good thing.
Like, I legit just backed this game on Kickstarter this past week because its basically the style of Pokemon games TONS of fans have been begging for since the fully transitioned to 3D and then Octopath Traveler showed Pixel Art could work in more dynamic settings. If Nintendo won't cater to their fans, then boo hoo, it's their loss.

This is the 'extended' look at Pokopia, which is due out on March 5. I HATE the voiceover and the way it talks to us like we are 2 years old. And I think the pathing looks very ugly and unnatural. But the gameplay looks pretty darned up my alley and IT LOOKS LIKE DQB2, and it's freaking me out.
The Poko creature, whatever it was called, is really cute when it transforms to imitate various Pokemon.
I'm really confused by this. ACNH + DQB2 in a Pokemon skin. Will I love this, or will it infuriate me with all the ways in which it just looks on the surface like DQB2 but doesn't satisfy?

Same devs, so, who knows, maybe it'll scratch the itch? I'd wait for reviews, especially if you have a YTer that covers games you enjoy and value your opinion on. I only have money for one March game, and it'll be Monster Hunter Stories for me.

It's just the new price of first-party games on Switch 2. I don't think any games Nintendo has put out have been less than $100 CAD.
I know video games were a bit UNDERpriced for the last...I'm not sure, maybe decade? They weren't keeping up with inflation. But this leap definitely hurts.
