Huh, I had no idea this game existed until now.

I wonder if it plays more like Level 5's Time Travelers (basically a movie with active time events) or more like a standard visual novel. I'm intrigued, but it had better be faster to progress than the last VN using Japanese actors I played because if I read faster than the text and I'm not allow to progress until the characters are done speaking, it's a no-go for me. I'm too speedy to be forced to sit though dialog I've already digsted!

Was that Shibuya Scramble? That was a really good VN, and it's been a long time, but I do recall that the text was painfully slow. Honestly...why would anyone ever decide to not let you click through text at your own pace? Why FORCE people to sit there staring at text they've already read for an extra thirty seconds?Bluie wrote: ↑Jan 08, 2026 1:52 am Huh, I had no idea this game existed until now.

Annoyingly slow text isn't limited to games with voice acting. It's existed since the NES days and still hasn't died. Presumably there must exist people who like it that way, or why else do developers keep putting it in their games?
But when a game has voice acting, it ends up being annoying even if the game actually does let you click through dialogue at will, because it's harder to read text at my own speed when the voice actor is distracting me. I hate voice acting in video games and usually end up turning it off.

Yeah, that's the one. I know it's highly regarded and even had one of my favorite VN authors working on it, but the snail pace killed it for me. Just lemme advance the text! I know -why- they don't despite there being no VA, it's because there's scripted events with sound effects, but c'mooooonnnnn! It's also really hard to just watch on YT at 2x speed because the absence of VA makes it hard to focus. IDK, I'm damned either way with that VN. Love the concept, but it just dragged.Kikki wrote: ↑Jan 08, 2026 5:50 amWas that Shibuya Scramble?
