I literally had a 'fall to my knees' moment after hearing how good Pokopia is the other day. I choose Tomodachi Life over it, and I don't regret it because I KNOW I'm gonna love the heck out of that game, but still, I feel like I'm missing out by not having Pokopia now. The Hubbo agreed that I can either buy it next paycheck or wait until we have a day to go to Gamestop and trade in the last of our stuff towards it. Either way, I'll be getting it eventually. It's gonna be one of the Switch 2's defining exclusives, I just know it now.

Well, it's not like the game loses any fun because it didn't get played on the first day or week or month (or etc). If it's really that fun, it'll still be just as fun later, and maybe even better, if they plan to give it any updates, like more Pokemon or more building options or...whatever.
Once I saw enough of it via the demos and trailers and etc, I KNEW it was going to be good, because it's DQB3. (It's funny how I reacted when I saw that white block in the game. If you're not looking carefully you might think it's just a plain white block, but I saw the texture on it and went THAT'S THE PLASTER BLOCK FROM DQB2! lol. Same texture! I wonder if this game also has a tinting tun to dye those blocks every other colour...those blocks made to make the huge Ditto look like they're either that, or the dyed chalk blocks.) Except, at the same time, it's clearly not as good as DQB3. There aren't as many building options and the controls don't appear to be as good.
Though it's cool that the story is good, that's a surprise. Not sure if only Pokemon fans will think it's a good story, or if it's ACTUALLY a good story, regardless of if you have affection built in or not. I really like that it's got good record-keeping, too. I'm into collecting and completing, the past few months, so that'll suit me.
I have to wonder how many of the reviewers were either Pokemon fans, or cozy-game fans. I daresay that the only two mixed reviews came from people who aren't into life sims or cozy games or whatever you want to call the type of game Pokopia is. It gets repetitive? Uh...have you played Animal Crossing? Or ANY life sim type of game? Anyway. I'm not sure how it'd be reviewing if the reviewers didn't LIKE this type of game to begin with, and I'm not sure if that's at play in this.
No harm waiting, anyway. The game'll be just as good months or years later.
EDIT: What this really makes me wonder is...is it NOW more likely I'll get a DQB3? For one thing, I heard Omega Force has been working on Pokopia ever since finishing with DQB2 (I don't know if that's true, I've no way of fact-checking it.) Could that have been part of a 3 never happening? And other than that, if a game so clearly based on 2 does extremely well, might it not make it possible that Square Enix will more strongly consider a third game? I don't know, but of course, even the littlest thing makes me wonder hopefully.

Yeah, I know, I know. I just got hit with some sort of fomo, but I know I'm not actually missing out on anything. I've not been gaming much at all so far this year and I do want something to hook me like Guardians of Azuma and Grand Bazaar did last year. All in due time.
As for DB3 - who knows, honestly. Square is so weird with their IPs lately that I don't know what's going to come out of them next. Like, with the great success of the Final Fantasy Tactics remaster, you'd think they'd jump on remastering Tactics Advance 1&2 next, yeah? But, I'm so confused and jaded towards Square that I expect nothing and let myself be surprised. For example; remastering the Ocotpath Traveler phone game into a full fledged game was never something I considered, OR them releasing a VR version of Triangle Strategy; yet here we are. There just seems to be no rhyme or reason. They remaster a handful of their PSOne catalogue while leaving the rest to rot, they'll remaster one phone game but not the others, they wont make sequels to highly beloved IPs people are literally begging for with money in hand. That's where we're at.

Oh my « Harvest Goddess »!! Thanks so much, Bluie! I wouldn't have known otherwise!
For those that don't know, this is part of the Yomawari series (or by the same developers) and the Japanese title of this third game in the series is ほの暮しの庭 (Hono Gurashi no Niwa/ The Garden of Fait Life)

Yep, by the same developers, but not actually part of the Yomawari series. It's funny, the world and sprite art looks like Yomawari, but the portraits look like Disgaea.
It also doesn't look very scary, imo. Cute scary. Spoopy, right? (Not that spoopy sounds like cute+spooky, it sounds like spooky+poop.) Given that it's a life sim, I'm betting it'll only have a spooky thread rather than any true horror. Well, that's what I think right now, anyway. I don't want it if it is true horror. *shrug* Guess we'll have to see what the rating is when they stop showing it as 'pending'. From what I've read it sounds like you won't encounter ANY scary stuff if you don't go out at night.
I'm not sure I want it anyway, as it is TOO top-down for me. It's looking almost directly downward and I just find that deeply unappealing and makes me feel like I'm not part of the life I'm simming at all.

Have you seen the Japanese trailers? (or even Japanese gameplay) (LOL, I was about to mention it was scary at night in-game) I think I remember there being a mode for this game without any horror (but am not 100% sure)Kikki wrote: ↑Mar 25, 2026 3:56 pm Yep, by the same developers, but not actually part of the Yomawari series. Oh, thank you for clearing up my confusion. Same developers, not the same series. If you've seen any gameplay of the yomawari series, pretty sure it'll be like that night.
I looked at a recent promotional movie for it (over 3 minutes long) (Seems it's not even out in Japan yet

Additionally, I was right. There is a mode where it's not scary at all. :D (really, quite an interesting choice for a horror game)Kikki wrote: ↑Mar 25, 2026 3:56 pm Yep, by the same developers, but not actually part of the Yomawari series. Edit: I'm worried that the "Don't Worry" mode might be a trap. I hope it's not

Huh, well, that was a very fast turn around for a Kickstarter game, at least in my experience. I backed Monster Crown: Sin Eater in June of last year, and now it's releasing this month. They haven't dropped the full trailer yet, but still. I am a little nervous, but cautiously optimistic. I loved Monster Crown, enough to even buy/collect it's TCG series. It's unfortunately stuck in an unstable state due to the creator's health issues and probably wont ever be fixed. Which is why they handed the sequel over to new developers. It just seems a little fast, but I'm going to guess is that the game was mostly complete, but lacked the funds for publishing and other needed fees. Over 70k from kickstarter probably gave them the final push. Regardless, I hope it's good. I love games in the GBC style and really want this to succeed.
