I would have preferred no unicorns as well. This series has always been a farming-life simulation with charming cuteness and a bit of fantasy sprinkled in, but it's obvious Marvelous has ratcheted up the cuteness and fantasy elements to attract a younger audience. Those of us who discovered the series in the early days just have to live with these changes knowing that the developer has deemed them necessary for the franchise's growth and survival. I would hope that now and then we'd get a more retro-flavored edition to satisfy us old-time farmers, but that doesn't seem to be in the cards. The alternative is to be able to toggle off some of these modern enhancements, but I won't hold my breath for that.

House expansion video in Japanese. I wonder if they'll let us change the style or colour...maybe this is only the default style? It'd be goofy to let us customize our farm to the max but stick us all with only one option for the house itself.

I know we've known for a bit now, but I still think it's cool that we start out in a tent. I did, however, notice that the house upgrade is huge, but looks kind of empty as a result—hopefully well be able to buy furniture and rearrange it a bit.

Were those a set of stairs I saw? Hopefully the downstairs bed is movable and isn’t stuck there like in SoS. Assuming that we do get a second floor.

Definitely looks like stairs. Just can’t tell whether it’s to a second floor or just a cosmetic thing, though. Hopefully we’ll find out soon.

Have we talked about the fact that Olive Town won't have any online/multiplayer options, other than being able to upload photos and look at the photos of others, and see other people's character data as tourists in your town? There will be no trading possible. I don't mind that since I almost never used trading, but a heck of a lot of people asked for sweet potatoes and coconuts and so on in the past three games (particularly ANB and Trio, iirc.)

Is it a big deal to anyone, that it won't be possible to trade, this time?

I'm definitely not excited by the unicorn. It just feels a bit much. But I'm not the demographic it is intended to appeal to. I'm hoping it can be a big deal for those who want it and kind of ignored for those that don't.

I am impressed with the house! I tend to be a bit house proud when I can in games. In Animal Crossing I always pay my house off as quickly as I can and get to decorating.

I had sold my New 3DS when I got the Switch and regretted it almost immediately. I recently got a refurbed New 2DS and have been playing SoS again. I'm really enjoying it, stalking Raeger and all. It will help me get to this game.

I don't mind some trading, but I do not like being forced to trade as in ACNH.

I’ve never traded on one these games. In my mind, it’s not an option. I’m pretty sure it comes from gaming 20 years ago when you had to coordinate with your friends who was gonna bring the link cable to recess and making sure everybody had their gbas with them. Too much work! But I really do prefer to play the game myself and achieve everything without help.

I have never used trading in a harvest Moon/SoS game before, so there's really no difference to me, but I am curious to see the opinions of others who used trading near religiously. I wonder why they decided to take out this time around? Maybe just to save effort for the solo-player gameplay?

I only ever used trading to trade with myself (I have 2 3DSes and sometimes gave a new file some assets I'd already earned in a previous file) or if someone asked me for something. I do like being able to transfer hard work I've done in a previous file into a new one that way, like getting an NG+ bonus, but in terms of REAL trading, it makes no difference to me since I didn't use it that way.

But speaking of that, it makes me wonder if this game will have personality types again, or an NG+ option.

Honestly I can go either way. Back in the ANB days this house didn’t have WIFI and I remember having trouble keeping my promises to trade considering I couldn’t go to the library often. By the time SoS came around we’ve gotten the internet service since sis needed it for school and while it was helpful, trading wasn’t as important to me other than transferring between systems like Kikki.

Has it been confirmed that there’s no trading? (Besides the pics)
I personally don’t mind but for a while there they really wanted people to ‘connect more’ and play with others.

Anyway I love how we start in a tent and the full house upgrad looks awesome but I do hope we get to decorate inside and out. I don’t like the exterior but the interior looks nice imo.

As for the unicorn, I can take it or leave it. It’ll be better if there was a reason why you can get one but it is kinda getting close to RF territory.

Yes, it has been confirmed by Olive Town's director, in the same interview that confirmed same-gender marriage and no secret candidates. That interview revealed a lot but nobody seems to remember most of it, lol.

I want there to be some good reason for the unicorn, too, or it's just weird.

I really want to at least be able to change the colour of the house (though I'd love to have different style options, too, of course). We're going to have very customizable farms this time...it'd be weird if we were all stuck with the same red and white house, regardless of how we'd made the rest look. To me, anyway.

^ thank you. What’s odd is I’ve read that interview about three times so idk how I forgot/missed that part  lol.

I wonder if they’ll be potential DLC for this game :/ it already seems pretty big but I wonder if they still want to add more.
