If you meant the coffee sprout, yeah the store sells it in spring. If you meant the recipe, I unlocked it at by eating it at the hotel cafe once I reached cooking level 5 and unlocked the ability to learn new recipes by eating at the cafes. You need coffee powder to make it, which you get by grinding coffee beans in the seasonings maker.

Several questions:

1. Is there a way to track the villagers' events? Normally with older games, their events are based off the level of their heart/friendship. Thus, it's easier to track. For this game, I got 8 cut scenes back to back from villagers where I randomly explore and enter houses. I'm so confused that I can't keep track of where I'm at with each villager.

2. Does the Ancient Lake ever get dirty again? I didn't realized I had to keep an eye on that lake. I drained it out the first time around, but didn't get a chance to visit before it refilled again (not sure how since those locations don't rain). I've waited for nearly a month and it hasn't gotten muddy so my pumps are just sitting there. Did I messed up? If so, they need to fix that. There's no way anyone would remember to check a place they would visit maybe twice a month. I spent all my days and evenings just tending to my makers. I don't have time to calculate when the pump is done and when the lake is drained completely.

3. For the sprites in their village, do they ever change their freebie items when you talk to them? I don't pay much attention to anything else besides the Angler Sprite and it keeps giving me the same items every visit at every season. There's barely a change in what they give. I was hoping it would give a variety of fish so I can donate them to the museum. I was never big on fishing, especially when it comes to remember which fish comes in which season and at what time.

1. If I recall correctly I think most of the regular villagers can have an event at one full heart (which I can verify) and supposedly another one at four full hearts. The candidates seem to have one per heart. Some of them that seem to involve multiple characters I've gotten confused about whose actual event it is though.

2. I don't know about the ancient lake, as I hadn't gotten to building pumps for it (didn't want to move my existing pumps), but I do know the other lakes/ponds do refill and get dirty again over time. I'm guessing after it's been full again for a while it will probably get dirty like the others? I wouldn't think they would design it as a one time thing, but that's me.

3. The earth sprites do give you more items and more varieties as they level up. I have gotten most of the left half of the fish tanks filled just with the random fish from the sprites. However, they do seem super random, so you don't always get good or different things every time.

1. In other words, there's no way to track it. I only started caring about my villagers in summer of year 2. I'm in Autumn now. The only one I know that I've caught up to heart events is Iori since I was able to give a confession pendant to him and then triggered another cut scene after that and he's at 8 hearts. I have Damon at 8 hearts, but couldn't find his 3rd event and the rest are a mystery. As for the others, I have no idea what number cut scenes I've seen and there's no way to track it. Hearts will continue to increase even if you haven't seen any of their cut scenes.

2. But how long does it take? Like I said, it's been nearly a month of waiting. It takes about 3 weeks to drain the Ancient Lake since I only recall visiting the lake 3 times to refill coal. The small lake in field 2 had been drained and refilled numerous times while I waited for the Ancient to get dirty.

After this, give him the confession pendent at any time. It reacts like a gift.
This is the point I’m at. I don’t know the conditions for the rest of the events.

Thank you both. I thought I was losing it every time I go to the Animal shop expecting the scene to trigger.

Possibly dumb question: do you have to entirely surround your farm buildings with fences? You can’t seem to place fences directly next to the building, so the only way to build a complete fence is to build all the way around. Animals taken outdoors don’t seem to wander too far, but it might be I’ve just been lucky so far.

They really don’t wonder to far. I’m guessing it’d depend on how much space you have.

The animals don't stay in the fenced areas (unless it's a huge space maybe). I found my goat jumping in the river >_<.

Fences are just for your aesthetics.

Does the game only let the players have just one shipping bin on their farm? If so, then what's the best solution to the issue of having crops growing in each farm area, and having to keep running back and forth, between the shipping bin and crop plots growing at, say farm area 3?

Yeah only one bin and I personally ride my bike literally everywhere possible. So maybe if you don’t have the bike yet I’d suggest the horses

I got the habit of keeping one chest per area for excess items when farming/ tending animals specifically. Once I'm done for the day, use mount or bike to do couple of runs back and forth.
Same as I keep one stable in area 3 and 2 next to storage chest for if I forgot to get on the bike, which I often do ooops
