I dislike my switch lite right now. My left stick drift gotten worse. It’s hard for any character I’m controlling to walk straight down 😂 whenever I’m trying to move the stick down sometimes it becomes stiff and won’t move. I can’t afford a new lite and I don’t want to send my lite away. So I’m dealing with the drifting.

That sucks. I wish Nintendo fixed the problem of joy con drift. 3/4 of the original joy cons on my OG switch have drift. It must be even worse on the lite where you can’t change the joy cons. It makes games so annoying to play. The switch really does feel like a console not meant to last, it has problems with overheating during many games and the joy con drift. Joy cons and switch consoles are still pretty expensive which is annoying.

I’m in the same boat… except my stick isn’t actually drifting, it’s physically difficult to move. It makes a clicking noise and the little dust flap underneath is broken and gets in the way of the stick moving all the way to the right. I’m trying playing on a bigger Switch for a bit but I just don’t like it as much so far, so I may ending up sending mine in for repair soon. It makes it very frustrating to play… I’m sorry you’re dealing with it too.

Well it’s definitely not game breaking, I just have to walk weirdly lol the switch still works so I’m not giving up on it.

I can’t have a normal switch. As someone who’s physically disabled, sitting hurts after a long time and a lite is easier to use in my bed.

Still playing DQ11. I was hoping to finish this weekend, or at the very latest while I was recovering from a surgery I had yesterday. I kept telling myself I had about 10 hours left. My surgery went poorly, and after I was more awake in the afternoon I spent 3 hours trying to get a rarefied monster to appear for a quest. It did not, and I’m a little crushed because I had to give up and break my quest streak. But I’m 70 hours in and just got the flying vehicle, and I don’t really want to keep playing but it feels like a waste not to beat it.

I had a friend who complained about DQ7 or 8 around when it came out, as he hated having to hunt down things he ran across like 50 hours ago. That’s what this one is like.

Ugh. Anyway! I had an inordinate amount of fun with Taiko no Tatsujin Rhythmic Adventure 1. I was surprised there was no DLC, and found out a lot of content got cut from the 3DS version. Disappointing, as I would have rather bought that. The RPG story and mechanics were a little too simple, but I loved the random encounters and collecting characters and secrets. I beat the story on normal, and finished all the arcade tracks on easy and normal, but I’m not entirely sure some of the hard patterns are doable as a full combo on handheld. I started the story over on hard, but it was killing my hands and I decided to set it aside. ^_^; I had to eventually stop playing Osu for the same reason. It was also a bad wind-down game for me because getting full combos got me too pumped before bed.

Twiddling my thumbs a bit until P5R. I’ll give Death Mark a try this week, since it’s October and that game is short. Really hoping I become free of DQ, I would also love to finish Portia and eventually move to the new Doraemon SoS.

Finished Tinykin! After the final level, I went back in and used a guide to hunt down 100% completion. Gotta complete that checklist.

At this point I'm sort of bouncing between games I've played before while I try to decide what to play next. Started a new slime rancher file, messed around with idle games, still occasionally save-scumming in ANB... I still have Tunic in the backlog, so I should go back to trying to beat that one boss at some point.

Oh! I didn't necessarily play it myself, but I watched my cousin play Beacon Pines over Discord, which is about the same thing for that type of game. It's very, very good, would recommend.

I'm almost done Chapter 2 of Zero, which I think makes me about 40% done. Ish. It's a great game, but the chest messages are terrible. 0% funny. XSEED did a great job on chest messages in the Sky games, but whoever did these...Geofront or NISA or whoever...had no wit at all. Every message seems to be the chest being bitter about you stealing from them. How about you do your jobs and actually arrest someone for once? Yourselves, in this case. That's the most recent chest I opened, and most of them are some variant of the same bitter, unfunny sniping about your party stealing from the chest. As if it's stealing when it's an unlocked chest abandoned in the middle of the wild, with apparently no one else interested in touching it. I personally don't find that amusing even once, but to see the same type of thing so many times...it's like hearing a song you disliked from the first time become a hit and then played to death on the radio. (Like How Bizarre by OMC in the summer of '96. How I hated that song!)

Chest messages aside, the game itself is great, though. I'm starting to get bogged down by questing...as usual in a Trails game, you want to follow the main story, but the game really, reeeeeeally wants you to go questing and hides all kinds of content, both frivolous and deep, within the optional side stuff.

I've updated my watchlist with more games I've passed by...just missed another two in the past week. It's adding up! Well, if I run out of games to play, I certainly have a fair few options to fall back on, for a new purchase!

I got a little bit busier IRL, too, from forces both external and internal...I haven't been progressing very fast in my gaming lately and that looks to be a situation that'll continue for a while. I need to see if I can repair my wheelbarrow by replacing the barrow. Dad had two spare ones up in the barn attic, so I just have to see if they'll fit, and make sure the wheel is in decent shape...they're expensive, so if I can save the one I already have, all the better, though a two-wheeled one would be best of all. I'll need it next year not just to help me cart around heavy stuff, btu to mix soil in. There's going to be a lot more do-it-yourself next year.

EDIT: Finished Chapter 2, woo! But man, I can't stop giggling about Lloyd continually shouting "Landy!" in cutscenes.

At this point I'm just sad I waited this long to play Portal 2. So far anyway it's a really incredible sequel. I like the focus on story after the last game. All the new types of puzzles. And I got to the thing that was spoiled for me last time, so it's a blind playthrough from here!
Spoiler:
Spoiler was GLaDOS getting ousted. Which is...pretty big, but also pretty obvious. So I don't feel too bad about it.

I'm in the middle of the repulsion gel puzzles... and I love them. I know there are a few more games since that have let you bounce off of walls, but I've never played them. It felt like using double clawshots in Twilight Princess, but...weirdly more satisfying for something so simple.
Genshin is fine. I feel a bit bad for Nilou as a character (especially her poor VA's). I can't remember...did Kokomi come out right before Raiden did? If so, Mihoyo has a problem. Water character right before the archon, three times in a row. And they all got ignored. Nilou is supposed to have other issues, though... so that's a thing.

I am assuming the livestream will be the end of next week. We shall see. We're getting to the holding period time. I've started the next phase of the main quest, and I am starting to see a pattern here. Minor spoiler, but. Just in case.
Spoiler:
So far, the story has gone like this. The bad guys are here (we know they're bad, we just can't PROVE it yet). Now the bad guys have infiltrated the government. Oh no! The bad guys have infiltrated the other government. Dangit, the bad guys have infiltrated the university...that also happens to function as the government. The bad guys are also Russian. Are you saying something, Mihoyo? Beautiful, in its own way.

I just want to say that the multiplayer levels are so much fun as well if you have someone to play them with online! I think I played through all of them with 3 different people, after I had already forgotten most of them again after some years :D

My Xenoblade 3 icon suddenly popped to the front of my homescreen, downloading something. I guess it must have been time for wave 2 of the DLC to pre-download? I haven't been paying attention to dates, so I don't remember when that is due out.

Portal is the one game my bro-in-law has brought up to me several times. His big blue eyes get bigger (and possibly even bluer!) when he talks about it :) I'm sure he'd love to convince me to play it, but I hate puzzles, lol. Didn't know any of the games had much of a story, though, that's cool :)

Yard work very quickly proved my body is fragile, atm, plus I kept getting dizzy and dropping things and running into other things (SO MANY TIMES), so I had to stop sooner than I meant to...but that means I can likely play Zero this evening cuz I'll probably have enough energy for it due to being forced to stop early. So I'll probably get into Chapter 3, now! I figure the slice they pulled out for the intro must be coming up in this chapter, though I'm not sure. I did get the shed area tidied up today, though, and I have all my perennials for next year, including some asparagus and chives that I'm going to mix into the decorative front bed. I'm already plotting a herb bed with chamomile and mint confined to their quarters to prevent wild spreading.

This post took me about two hours. (I know because I started on it before shayachan had posted.) Why?

EDIT: Cold Steel character models really are inferior to the portraits of older Trails games. There is so much character in those portraits, and the models make everyone so much more samey, with only hairstyles and hair and eye colours to differentiate anyone.

I'm jealous, Portal 2 multiplayer looks really fun from what I've seen of it. :) I can barely scrounge up anyone to play a simple game with me though, so puzzles would be next to impossible. Watching streamers I enjoy play is cute though.

And, welcome in, btw! No idea how long you've been around, but. It's always nice seeing new usernames.

The original Portal was really interesting for its time, but the story is very bare bones. There's just you, the silent protagonist, and one of the best villains in all of video games. The sequel has a much bigger focus on story. More voiced characters, much more emphasis on environmental storytelling. Actual story sections between puzzles.

If the Steam Deck runs either game well they might be good to pick up on sale. The original is 80% off (2 USD) every time Steam has a sale. MOST of the puzzles are pretty reasonable, imo, even for a puzzle hater. There are a couple of stumpers, but there are also guides for everything. If the game's humor clicks with you, it's worth it just for that. Every line you get from the villain is sort of your reward for puzzle solving.

If you ask me, they're also some of the most interesting puzzles out there, but. If you reeeally hate it that definitely can't be helped.

Just a quick stint with Genshin tonight. Dailies and back to the long quest I'm working my way through. Got very, very confused at a segment, because there are enemies in the desert area that go invisible, and I kept thinking that I had to do something or wait it out to make it appear, and eventually saw its level marker...IN THE FLOOR.

I dunno if I should be grateful that I've yet to have an enemy spawn in the floor...or not.

It's relatively inexpensive even on Switch, with the collection being two games and only $25 CAD. (Of course, $2 is much less, and even if you get both games NOT on sale on Steam, it comes to $23 CAD.)

But in addition to not enjoying puzzles, I also dislike sci-fi. Anything with a futuristic or industrial setting, any robots, aliens, spaceships, space exploration...I tend to just feel very disassociated by those elements. I don't know how good a feature would have to be, to get me to put up with a sci-fi puzzle game, lol. So distractingly good that I didn't notice or glossed past all the grey + neon and techno guns and etc. Of course, if I thought it actually mattered to my bro-in-law, I'd play it anyway! :) He's sweet and does me big favours all the time, so of course I would.

I was hoping to get more done IRL in these three days in particular, but it looks like health issues are taking a dive (temporarily, I think...hopefully only for a week or so!) so I may end up with extra game time after all. I do want to keep playing Zero, but the price is a bit high. :? I'm hoping extra anti-inflammatories can let me continue with some RL stuff.

I've also been looking at Lego Bricktales. I'm not fond of things made of cubes, but I LOVE DQB2, so it's possible I could really like Bricktales, as well. At least the trees aren't made of cubes or rectangles!

Aw, I understand that struggle! Maybe you can find a nice stream of it then. :3

And thank you! I am super fresh, just two days old on the Forum. I also joined the Discord Server. c:

To add something of my own to the thread: I am currently playing Final Fantasy 9 for the first time and replaying SoS:FoMT, so I guess I will focus on FF. It's a super charming game and I am a little sad that newer FF games or RPGs in general have lost that a lot, but I am also a big fan of pre-rendered backgrounds like the Ps1 FF games or old Resident Evil's had. I wish newer games would do this again, though I guess there is at least one indie horror that comes to mind that does this, Tormented Souls.
Anyway, I am enjoying FF9 well enough, but I also can't say anything about the story blew me away so far and I think I am about 3/4 through the game. What it did do though is add more to my backlog, cause it made me install FF6, 8 and Chrono Trigger on Steam as well, on top of Grandia 1 and Trails in the Sky SC I want to get to, so ... I will die in JRPG limbo.

Ah, Final Fantasy IX, my favorite game of all time. I used to play it yearly, sometimes more than once. Let me know if you're having any trouble because I'm basically a walking FFIX encyclopedia.

----

Oy vey, I am finally free for a few days. Gaming after work has been a lot of little sessions not overly worth mentioning besides making some decent progress in Splatoon 3. I beat the second boss fight and have made my way to the next area(s). I will admit thought that I had to get my husband's help with something because I tried it over thirty times and was beginning to lose it. The gun they force you to use in the hub world is not my forte, I have issues aiming with it. When trying to get all the collectables in the third area, I just could not for the life of me get the timing down in the balloon chases. The hubbo has been playing 3rd person shooters since he was a teen, so I desperately asked for help and he managed to finish them both in a few tries. I had no issues with them in Splatoon 2, but that hub area allows you to choose your weapon to progress how you like, so I guess it's a mix of my skill issue and the limited options indeed limiting me. It's fine though, I have no shame in asking for help when I need it. It's better than being continually frustrated in the name of stubbornness.

Then last night I hit Genshin hard unexpectedly. Fully just meant to log on, get my Welkin, and do my Inazuma weeklies, but it soon evolved into me ranking up to 50 and grinding bosses for mats to get my teams up to 90. I managed to get Traveler and Diona to 90 so now I just need to focus on crowing them, but I'm more focused on getting the rest of my mainstays at least ascended (their weapons too). 90% of my team need Tartaglia mats while only Kazuha needs Azhdaha mats, which means It's going to be literal months before I can get everyone's talents maxed. I wish they'd nuke the weekly cap or at least raise it for people at certain AR. One drop a week is maddening.

Not sure if I'm gonna hit Genshin or Splatoon today, but they're both on my radar atm. I'd like my 'backlog' to be clear before Scarlet&Violet drop, because if my 200+ hours in Pokémon Shield is any indication, I'm going to play the hell out of Violet and want minimal distractions. The Genshin stuff can technically wait, but I do want Splatoon 3's story done sooner than later. I also completely forgot that Dragon Ball: The Breakers comes out tomorrow. I'll certainly play it, but IDK if I'm gonna go in on it too much yet.

Just so you know - whatever the highest world tendency is... 8, I think? you get 2 drops a week. Which is still awful, but double is double. So if you'd be willing to go back up and have somebody to help you nuke bosses it might be worthwhile?
