I wish they'd nuke the weekly cap or at least raise it for people at certain AR. One drop a week is maddening.
Just so you know - whatever the highest world tendency is... 8, I think? you get 2 drops a week. Which is still awful, but double is double. So if you'd be willing to go back up and have somebody to help you nuke bosses it might be worthwhile?
Welp, good to know at least lol. I do have a friend that might be willing to help nuke, but for now I'm just gonna work on the ascension stuff as my resin pile is better spent there.

Things really do keep changing for my backlog. Whether it’s because of time, health, or something else, I find it so hard to stick with things. I had hoped with September and October, I’d be able to stick with what I had planned, but I had to change things again.
I’ve progressed a bit with Animal Crossing NH. It’s going okay. I think I’m just getting a bit burnt out with it. It’s still relaxing when I play though. Maybe I should take a break and come back around Halloween time. One thing I can say is a villager moved out and so I hoped to get a new one from the mystery islands. Sadly, I didn’t get anyone I sort of wanted and wasted most of my Nook Points. I think I’ll just let someone random move in. I don’t have the energy to farm for Nook Points again. Am enjoying building houses though.
I also tried some Harvest Moon One World. On Fogu people seem to really enjoy the game. Sadly, I don’t think I can be one of them. The game does things better than Story of Season Pioneer Town, like the story, characters (kind of), and character models, but I’m not a fan of the art work for the setting(things look so sparse), some gameplay mechanics, and boring heart events. I honestly think One World and Pioneer Town are on the same level. I can see why people would either like or dislike these games. For me, neither was high peak gaming. I will say it’s hard for me to want to finish One World, but this mainly has to deal with some gameplay elements. Maybe when I have more patience in me, I’ll try playing it again down the line.
As for other games, I just realized I won’t be able to finish Final Fantasy 9 any time soon. See, I had to replace my PS4 due to the disk driver not working and stupidly didn’t back up my FF9 saved file, so now I have to restart. Problem is was that I was on the third disk of the game and now that I lost it, I don’t want to restart right now. So for my next Square game, I may do Chrono Cross.
In terms of Xenoblade, I sadly haven’t been able to play any of it for a week. This is mainly because I’ve been too tired and unfocused to be able to play. Maybe that can change this weekend and I can get some hours in. Same goes for Trails in the Sky FC. Not giving up on it though. There’s a chance I can finish the game by the end of this month, but it depends on how I feel and how well I do in my coding class.
So yeah, not the best time for gaming. Even Animal Crossing I haven’t done much in. I think for this week, I will put my gaming time into Animal Crossing, Mineral Town, and Digimon. If I’m lucky I’ll get some Xenoblade or Trails in there. Also, I’m wanting to read more, so I’ll likely add some visual novels.
PS- I may replay Blue Reflection 2. I miss that game

Don't worry, infel; Xenoblade and Trails are both known for taking some energy to play (especially Trails.) They take sharp attention to very broad detail, and a bit of emotional elasticity, as well. It's part of what's great about them, but it's also part of what makes them exhausting, lol.
Which I actually forgot when I said I might have ended up with a bit of extra game time the other day. If I'm too unwell to do Y or Z, I'm almost definitely going to be too tired to play Trails. So I didn't get even one SPECK of gaming done yesterday. Not an iota. I finally turned Zero on last night, and I ended up just listening to the music on the starting screen for an hour before turning it off again without loading the game.
I was going to say 'hopefully sometime today', but y'know, I have no idea if I'll be able to get to it or not. I was right about to get into another main story segment, so I'd like to, but all bets are off. Fitting in RL stuff takes priority, if I'm able to scrape anything together.
I keep looking at Bricktales, but now is not the time for adding another game. Plus I need to buy my sis a 'lucky iron fish' (except I'm gonna get the leaf) and they're more expensive than they should be for a slightly-less-than-7oz lump of iron. It was an expensive month, as I had to get a pair of ankle braces, an external memory drive, and a new full spectrum (therapy lamp) bulb. So no more games until November. Plus I HAVE more games than I can get to anyway, jeepers, me. A new game isn't suddenly going to give you energy!
I keep entirely forgetting about RF5, too. I'm supposed to go back and finish that. I had just gotten Ludmilla into town in the last story segment, I think.

Yeahhh, both Xenoblade and Trails are infamously long franchises. It's not necessarily a bad thing, they are time sucks when you have other things on your plate. I've kind of given up on the Trails series (for now) because it already had it's big Avengers Moment™ and I have zero desire to take part in another build up that I probably won't live to see pay off. I mean, maybe once I'm retired I'll try and catch up, but I do not have the time for the series any more, especially with their long localization cycles. With Xenoblade, for me at least, they're best left for a rainy day or a gaming drought. There's not 10+ games that are required reading, but instead 3 (technically 5) stand alone games with a connected universe instead. While the Xenoblade games are long, you really don't have to worry about them overly demanding your time and brain space as they will be waiting for you when you're ready to return and they won't have pop quizzes unlike Trails and it's bazillion characters+plot threads. I'm literally waiting for Xenoblade 3's DLC and QoL improvements to be over and done with so I can buy the game and binge it, then be done with it and move on to other games. Just take your time, infel. I wouldn't feel guilty over the time sucks not getting all of your attention, get to them when you can / when you feel like it.
_
I hardly gamed yesterday tbh. I ended up binging an anime called 'Sonny Boy' which was a blast, but actual gaming was just a bit before bed. I booted up Shinning Pearl and did the Buck quest + caught Heatran, and with that, there's nothing left to do in the game besides the battle tower, so it's officially 'complete' for me. I then booted up Shield and to my surprise, there was a tiny bit more story that I failed to trigger. There was a doubles tournament that I did with Marnie, and honestly, it was fun. I might actually go to the trouble of unlocking every partner and fighting through all the tournaments just to see everyone's unique dialog. Like, geez, this is the Pokemon game that just keeps giving with me. I only intended to keep playing to de-gigantamax some meowths and eevees, but now I have different motivations lol.
Not actually sure what I'm going to play today, but most likely Splatoon 3's story mode with a side of Genshin. Nihlou's releasing today (iirc) and I am pulling. She's the only Sumeru character that's interesting to me and I like her kit. I hope she comes home, but if I do lose 50/50, I'd be willing to have a Mona too. Just, no more Jean, please.

Have been playing AC:NH a lot lately. I started over again recently and managed to get Lyman and Renee as my starters. I’ve unlocked terraforming and while I never bothered with it much in the past, I’ve been inspired to give it a bit more of a try after watching some videos on YouTube. I really wish you could store flowers, it would make things so much easier than just either replanting or selling them to make space.

That is so true. But from what I've played they are such good games, so I'm sad when I can't play them. Like you say though, one needs the right mood and energy and sadly right now I don't have it. I guess I'll stick with Animal Crossing and Digimon right now, but hopefully I can get back to Xenoblade soon. I wanna try it again and further the story.

I honestly understand what you mean. Both games series are long and sometimes too time consuming. Xenoblade though reminds me of Atelier in that it's long and has a good number of games, but you can start anywhere. Sadly with Trails this isn't very true and I can understand why people pass up the series due to how many games a person needs to play. For me though, I also see why people love Trails. I've had fun with Sky and want to keep going. However, I've been so tired and not able to focus much that I can't get into it right now. You and Kikki are entirely right though and I also understand why you needed to drop Trails. It does take a long time to translate as well and this can be a problem even if some people won't admit it. I hope the newer games will be translated though, but it'll take a good while. For me, I plan to go back to Xenoblade and Trails, but I do need to feel right in order to play. Thanks so much for your thoughts on it as well. Makes me feel better

Hello all! been a while since I posted here. I am back with a backlog update. I got my tax refund finally last week, so I got a bunch of games I've been excited about but didn't have the spare funds.
Baldur's Gate 3
Beacon Pines
Dinkum
Disney Dreamlight Valley
Potion Permit
Stray
and Two Point Campus
And I got Coral Island in early access since I backed it on Kickstarter. Since it's like Animal Crossing, I'll be checking on Dreamlight Valley once a day. Two Point Campus is more of a, "I need something that is just fun, so let's play this!" I'll probably pick a day off just to binge Stray since it's not that long of a game. I'm just so excited to have new games to play finally!

Took most of the night off for videogames. Might do that on Fridays from now on, it was really nice.
Genshin was a bunch of questing. The major sidequest in the desert was fun. More puzzles than the aranara quest, and (gratefully) a LOT shorter. The aranara one was cute, but it overstays its welcome imo. Gonna try to start at least one character story quest soon... I don't want to get locked out of future events for not doing them. Or be forced to rush through them. They're always so long, with so many cutscenes.
At least they're a good way to use up my time before 3.2 rolls around. I can't remember if there's any other events left, but it can't be anything major this late.
Chapter 7 of Portal 2 is done! There's really something to be said for taking a break from puzzle games. I stopped at the last propulsion gel puzzle last night because I was getting frustrated, and got it done today in a few minutes. LOVE all the gel puzzles. Wildly different from the first game, which is weird but great.
May be getting toward the end, but considering how long Portal's home stretch was, I'd guess 2-3 more play sessions. The way I'm going, anyhow.
Oh! Forgot to mention. I found a little hidden office last night with a bit of "secret" dialogue. The achievement is sitting at 13%, so I'd guess most people find it on a second playthrough? The best bit for me was the poster on the wall in the office. "Remember to contact your supervisor if you see..." First on the list: OSHA Inspector. Burst out laughing because it was so perfect. Had to take a screenshot. Sent it to my mom this morning. Even out of context, she got a laugh. Work in consumer advocacy is fun.

Congrats on all the new games, Ronin Can't say I've noticed Dreamlight feeling anything like Animal Crossing, though. You find it is?
~
Wahaha! (read this as slightly a unhinged maniacal laugh)
I caught all the fish! I am D_O_N_E with fishing in Trails from Zero. I hope this means I never need to fish again! What is with the gaming world and FISHING?! We hates it forever. Wanna include fishing...okay. But please stop putting achievements and high-level goodies behind it, forcing me to not just participate, but catch EVERY FISH. I don't want to fish! It's tedious.
I wish my ovaries would fall out. Putting aside the usual problems they cause, they're severely complicating my spinal issue AND my digestive issues, and what have I ever even needed them for? I'm not sure when I finally got to sleep last night, but it was some time after 2AM, and I'm tired even when I get a FULL night's sleep. I put the title screen of Zero on my Switch and let it play the music again as I sat in my recliner, and eventually I fell asleep. I guess after so many hundreds of hours put into the series, that theme music, common to them all, is soothing to me. Can't say I think it's great music, but it still seems to work.
I get to continue the story a little now. Between all the SSS quests. At least the quests are all world-building to some degree, that's Falcom's thing...NPCs aren't total nobodies.
EDIT: I have such conflicting feelings about
Spoiler:
Renne. I don't like her, personally. I think she's very cool and her story is deep and fascinating, and I want things to work out well for her, but...I don't wanna be her friend. I don't enjoy her personality...I find it annoying. Her story is amazing, but I don't like her, in spite of finding her interesting and extraordinary. Hard to explain.
EDIT 2: Completed Chapter 3, and now I have conflicting feelings about...
Spoiler:
KeA. She is cute, I thought they were doing a good job of showing that she was cute on first introduction, but ever since then, the game is CONSTANTLY t-e-l-l-i-n-g me how cute she is. Like...she's so, so, so cute, I want to eat her, she's so cute I can't stand it, she's so cute I can't believe it, she's so cute let's all fight over who gets to go shopping with her, she's so cute let's all die to make her smile!!!!! She's such an angel!!! She's so pure!!!She's so adorably energetic and frieeeeeendly!!!!!!!!!!
They show a LITTLE of her being all these things, but mostly it's the characters talking about it, TELLING the players how cute she is, not her actually BEING cute. It's very off-putting. If she's cute, Falcom, SHOW it, don't tell it. Let me find her cute for myself, thanks. If you have to inform me of her cuteness, you're not doing your job.
Gonna go do some house construction today! Being on my feet a lot makes my spasms/nerve problems worse but my stomach better, but it also helps baby sis and bro-in-law a bit, so the trade, which would otherwise be very hard to decide on, leans better that way.

Aaaa, I finished Final Fantasy 9! I am so proud of myself, not because it was super hard or long, but just because it has become a bit rare for me to actually finish a game. :'D
I think it was a good game, but nothing really mindblowing for me. There were two scenes where I teared up a bit, but otherwise nothing hit really hard emotionally, but maybe it was just me and not being able to fully connect to the characters. Still, I enjoyed it, I am glad I played it but also glad I finished it!
Now I think I will continue with the Phoenix Wright Trilogy, I am on the last game, second case. I stopped there aaages ago, but it was just at the start of the case so should be easy enough to continue!
Before that I stopped for months in the second game in the middle of that circus case, and I managed to complete that, so I should be fiiiine. Quite looking forward to seeing all the characters again actually. :3

Hey, everyone. I guess I've put Doraemon: Story of Seasons (1) on temporary hold, because I haven't touched it since starting Hokko Life.
I guess I've also put Little Busters on hold. I haven't touched it in a bit either.
Pocket Card Jockey Update: I beat the Growth Mode with the Witch Horse. I'm playing in Mature Mode now. The Witch Horse is a Junior (offspring), so it's really strong and I got it to level 8.
In Hokko Life, I've made a lot progress. (most of progress can be found/detailed) in the Hokko Life thread. Funnily enough, I'm *still* before the first Fishing Tourney, I think. My Switch says I've played Hokko Life 10+ hours.
I still haven't gotten my physical pre-order/edition of Chaos;Head Noah;Chaos;Child for the Nintendo Switch.
I started and beat the first route/generation of a game called Growing Up (on Steam). It's a child-raising simulator similar to Chinese Parents. Growing Up takes places in America (the U.S.) during the 1990s. A run-through of Growing Up took me about 5 hours.
I downloaded some more demos on Steam and the Switch. (including the Doraemon Story of Seasons: Friends of the Great Kingdom demo on Steam, but I think I'm still waiting on the western release of the demo via Switch).
Today, I hope to go to Gamestop to get a serial code for Pokemon Sword/Shield that gives you Genesect and Volcanion in-game. I also have to buy some Nintendo e-shop cards, so I can renew my Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion pack subscription(s). They (the subscriptions) expire in 9 days. I buy the yearly for one person. I also hope to buy some more Nintendo e-shop cards and Steam cards and stuff.

Finished Portal 2. Sweet and sad, to be done with a slice of gaming history. Finished the game about an hour ago, and went out to pull some weeds and just kind of process a bit.
Iirc, I was running on laptops when Portal 2 came out, so I couldn't run it. Finally got there, though. Been listening to the credits song for years, now. Can't remember when or how exactly I found Jonathan Coulton's music, but it wasn't from Still Alive.
Easily one of the best sequels I've ever played. Boy did they have to pull out the voice talent to match GLaDOS. She didn't feel squashed, but I could have used a couple more one liners. Ending sequence felt just a little longer than the one in Portal. The boss battle was still very jank, but not as jank as the first game imo. I did die a couple of times, not knowing where I was going and getting bonked, but so it goes.
Nothing Valve has ever published has ever felt very...smooth. (Maybe Half Life Alyx, by what others have said.) But the creativity is top notch. Not unbeatable, but maybe close. None of the Portal-like puzzle games I've ever played have quite lived up to it. The puzzles come close sometimes, but the rest never does.
I will say, I expected more light bridge puzzles? From how people talked about the game. Maybe they figured that out with the multiplayer stuff. Hopefully some day I'll be able to play it. And maybe by then I'll have a computer that doesn't freak out at playing it.

Been messing with different Pokemon games shiny hunting with no luck lately. I have also been moving around and condensing my collection in Pokemon Home, as I am planning to switch to the free plan after my premium plan expires in several months. I know Scarlet and Violet have some of the old Pokemon previously stranded by Dexit, but hopefully after they are out there will be even more old ones included that weren't previously available in the present Switch games.
As for backlog, I finally cleared my husband's file of Arceus, including the pain-in-the-rear final final boss dodging battle. Bleah, that was my most unfavorite aspect of an otherwise great game in my opinion. So technically I have cleared the game twice this year, yay.

I do. It feels more like Animal Crossing than a farming sim because of how you interact with the villagers, it handles activities in real-time, and the activities are pretty similar to New Horizons.
I did end up returning Dinkum. There are some aspects I didn't like how there are enemies all over the place that don't let you rest, the pause menu doesn't pause the game, you need licenses to pretty much do anything (which cost this game's version of Nook Miles to unlock), and talking to people doesn't pause the game.

Aaaa, I finished Final Fantasy 9! I am so proud of myself, not because it was super hard or long, but just because it has become a bit rare for me to actually finish a game. :'D
9 is one of my favorites! I haven't played it in forever, but it sucked me in hard and I went through it several times when I was in... high school, maybe? It's been awhile. I thought about replaying the Switch port, but I'm waiting for my partner to play it with me.
I BEAT DRAGON QUEST 11! EIGHTY HOURS! I did clear basically all the available quests, and I didn't use items to lower the random encounter rate (which I guess doesn't happen in 3D mode?), but I guess that's why it took so long? I was so done, I feel a little bad I hated such a good game when I finished it. I played a bit beyond the end, long enough to beat the same boss a second time, but I'd had enough and put it away.
I also beat Mario Super Picross on Nintendo Switch Online! 300 of the meanest puzzles ever. The last few sets are in weird inception-like menus. If you don't know to look for them, they'd be super-missed. I'm taking a break from Picross and am playing Spirit Hunter: Death Mark as my wind-down game. It's a horror VN, suitably creepy with detailed baroque body horror art, I'm enjoying it so far. I'm on chapter 3. This developer is known for DRPGs, and I kinda want to play one of them now, but I super-don't want to jump into another long RPG unless it's Persona 5 next week.
Contrary to that, I also picked My Time at Portia back up, which I stopped in favor of Rune Factory 5. I was worried about being able to jump back in, but I remembered everything pretty well, and I still love this game! I thought I had built all the makers, but was annoyed when I figured out I had two (now three) quests that require the last piece, the Electric... furnace, whatever, that makes hardened aluminum. So I have to wait an in-game week to get that. -_-; I did roll over into year 2, beat Higgins in the annual ranking, and get a bunch of fun stuff for the new year. Plot-wise, I'm working on the South Block missions.
