Owning Sheep in Boy Version

It is my understanding that you need to get the Shampoo item to "brush" the sheep since you can't use the brush on sheep in this game. It has also come to my attention that you can only get the shampoo in the boy version if you trade it from the girl version...Since I am playing the game on my 2DS I can not get the shampoo item through trading...With that being said, what will that do to my sheep? Will they still be able to give wool??

Does anyone have an answer for this? Thank you.

If I recall correctly, if you don't have the shampoo, you nor the girl can "take care" of the sheep, but eventually, she will harvest the wool. You can take the wool from storage to use in machines if you bought them and if you buy the books, the girl can randomly make yarn and scarfs. I don't think the boy can do anything other than feed the sheep, or ask if they want let out or to have babies. So if the girl is pregnant, you get nothing from the sheep. At least I believe that's how it was, it's been a bit since I played.
