Also yesterday I finally came across my first shiny which thankfully was obvious. The light blue Toxicroak was in a massive outbreak I was fighting to get more experience. Caught it and named him Looker. :) I also finished all the school classes and finals. The rewards for the classes and teacher event lines are nice.
I didn’t think anything of the classes at all, so I didn’t take any of them, but now that I know that there’s more and that there’s an actual incentive to complete them, I’m heading back to the Academy! :!:

Found out some good news today for those who may not have online or don't want to use union circle but still want a Palafin in your game! While exploring I came across a Tera Raids crystal, five star I think that had Palafin, already all grown up, no odd evolution method required. I caught it too after a couple of tries with the help of random online players, but you could solo it with the game's AIs. I hadn't gotten around to using Union Circle yet myself, but I have been hoarding Finizen to evolve, lol. Good to have options.

Current Progress: 3 Gym Leaders beat, 1 Titan Quest done, 1 Operation Starfall completed (4 Shiny Pokemon caught)

Iono was so tough.I had to outlast her Mismagius so it can use Struggle on itself.

So, now that a bunch of you have finished... How is Scarlet/Violet ranking on your guys' personal favourite Pokemon games scale?

It might be my favorite! The big thing to me was the variety of pokemon you could catch in story mode, and they weren't gated behind complicated endgame areas, days of the week, sounds you play on the radio, etc. They're just there! I like that you can see them too, so you can target the evolved forms and not fight a thousand geodudes the whole game (though, if you run over the crickets in your car as often as I did, you'll be fighting a lot of those). I liked having the new mythical pokemon storyline, I thought that was an interesting addition, though more as something else to do. I'm not usually the biggest fan of the extra content like the picnics and school classes, etc (I didn't attend any of the classes, though I know I'm missing out on something... I did need to do some of the picnics and food-based bonuses, which I wasn't thrilled about). I thought the gym leaders had a lot of personality too, but I was mostly ambivalent on the story overall. They usually don't grab me, but it's not really why I'm there. Everything felt more fun in this version, other than I don't like exploring in 3D. That was a big hurdle for it to overcome, but it did!

I beat it last weekend, but I forgot to add my thoughts here! I liked pretty much everything about it, but wasn't into the end of the story.
Spoiler:
I drug my feet about finishing, but finally ran out of content to play that wasn't the end of the game. ^_^; I saved the psychic gym for last, and then did all three of the story-ending battles (Arven, Team Star, and the Elite 4). Arven's story was whatever, but Team Star's story made NO SENSE. It made even less sense after everything fell out in those last few scenes. ^_^; Again though, I'm not usually super-into the stories in these games, and Penny and the corny Hasta La Vistar sign-off might have been my favorite bits of the overall story.

The Elite Four test was fun! I answered Normal gym for toughest challenge. Like, legit, usually the normal fights are harder, but my partner and I were both obsessed with Larry. Just some businessman going to work and collecting a paycheck. We joke a lot that my partner hates work so much that he needs a worksona, and that he's normcore in public, so he felt Very Seen by Larry's inclusion. XD I LOST IT when Larry re-appeared in the elite 4, and thought perhaps they brought back whoever you answered was hardest in the test part. I had fun with this elite 4, unlike my trips through BDSP. I tried to use an all-killer lady party, though I was a bit paranoid about covering my bases, so I had to include a Garganacl I never gave up on, and I didn't wind up re-leveling a Gothitelle since I didn't pick her up until the end. Sad though, I didn't wind up using her in gen 5, and I really wanted to do an endgame party with her, but I'll probably use her when I go back and beat Violet.

I really disliked the story in the crater. ^_^; Like, a lot. But it was only a couple hours long, and was really the only thing about the game I didn't enjoy. My partner and I did enjoy the endgame differences between the versions. He beat it a day after me, and we were hollering back and forth between different rooms trying to sort out whether Arven had a mom or dad, whether dad was dressed like a caveman, yes of course mom was a robot, etc.
There's a few pokemon I still need to track down to complete the dex, but only about a dozen... not counting the Fuecoco evos, which I'm too lazy to do right now. I was torn on whether I wanted to complete it within the next week or so, but I'll probably replay this when they add content, and I'll enjoy completing the dex at the same time I can shift everything over to Pokemon Home.

My progress is slow but steady. I haven’t beat the game just yet, but I’m getting there! I’ll share more about my gameplay later.

I have genuinely enjoyed playing Violet, it's been very fun. With the exception of a couple freezes preupdate and one crash due to a messed up raid, most of the glitches have just been funky visual ones that don't effect gameplay. I have already put in over 80 hours! It's not my favorite Pokemon game, I think Alpha Sapphire and Arceus are still my #1 and #2, but it's definitely in my top 5 Pokemon games. If/when it gets DLC, it will hopefully be even better.

Finally managed to complete the Dex and get the Shiny Charm. Some of those trades were a pain to keep trying for as it seems like the majority of people were also playing Violet and not as many were playing Scarlet, lol. The charm and shiny sandwiches really work! After making one targeting Fairy type, I found TWO shiny Fidoughs! Love that donut dog!

I finally started Pokémon Violet on Friday since I was waiting for my brother to finish school, so I'm late to the party! I mentioned this in the backlog thread as well but the most interesting thing that's happened to me so far is finding a shiny Lechonk on the first route, pretty much right after the Pokémon catching tutorial. I was already planning to have a male Oinkologne on my team so I probably won't use it for the story, but I'm still happy to have found it since Lechonk is my favourite new Pokémon of this generation so far.

Other than that I've beaten the bug gym so far, which was really easy since I chose Fuecoco. He evolved right after the battle too! I'm finding the openness of the objectives a tad overwhelming since supposedly they have a clear level curve but the game lets you do them in any order? Which seems like a weird design choice to me.

Has anyone else tried the Cinderace raid event? It is brutal, way harder than the Charizard. I tried more times than I care to say and just ended up super frustrated. Couldn't even get the health bar to yellow! I think you would need a Pokemon with very strong physical defense, a strong special attack, and an amazing speed stat, as it is insanely fast. Bleh, I will probably just wait until the event rolls again myself.

I've not even been bothering with the raid events outside of the initial eevee one because the meta in this game is wack. The entire game has a certain balance to it until post game, where it's mostly just raids and shiny hunting, and the event raids that are tied to post game are just ridiculous. I'll just get an egg from a friend later. :bunny:

Guys, I finally beat Pokemon Violet's main story last night after 67 hours! it took me a month and a half (real time). My next objective is to complete the Pokedex. I have over half of the Paldea's Region's Pokedex, so hopefully shouldn't be too hard. And, now I can do the raids, too (hopefully).

Finished playing (the main story and post-game) earlier this month and I was pleasantly surprised! Honestly, I did kind of have low expectations, but I'd say it was an overall pretty solid game. I liked the characters, enjoyed the story, the way it was divided and how it all links back together at the end. Some pretty good new Pokemon also, Maushold became a surprise favorite of mine, wasn't expecting them to be strong but by the end they were my highest leveled. Wish you could change out of the school uniform though, none of the seasonal variants were particularly cute imo.

Pokemon Day was yesterday, two part DLC confirmed! We still don't know much about it other than the estimated release dates, returning/new mons and some visuals but we'll see. Might do the new raid battle later today and catch Iron Leaves.

I could help if you let me know when you're online, I can pm you a trade code. You just want to trade it to evolve and then trade to get it back, right?
Or, since in other entries there are usually more trade evolutions, you could try the "Austin John trade codes". Before the games were compatible with Pokemon Home he and others put together a list of codes to help players trade for version exclusives and trade evolutions. I don't remember them now offhand, but you can probably Google something like Austin John trade codes or Pokemon Scarlet/Violet trade codes and find them.
A third option would be raids, as sometimes you can find evolved Pokemon in them. (How I got my original Palafin.)
