I'm about halfway through Moonbrooke in DQB2 in my most recent run, but I am starting to be weary of playing it so much again. The fact that it's almost my most unfavorite part doesn't help. I did find some stuff early, like the ship and Rendarak (don't know if that's the spelling). On a positive note I purposely gave a particular character the worst possible weapon and left the character to the wolves during attacks.

I'm glad people are having fun with the AWL remake. Still not having the urge to pick it up myself, saves money I guess. I am probably most excited about Sandrock and the Mario RPG remake coming up. Maybe I will pick Egglia back up or work on something else on the backlog in the meantime, I don't know. It's hard to pick something post-TOTK.

Just playing through Story of Seasons A Wonderful life. Haven't played much else before this outside of some Animal Crossing and monster games. As for A Wonderful Life, it's an okay game. I'm having fun playing it and it's fun seeing a more modern version of the Wonderful Life games. I wouldn't say it's an amazing game, but it's pretty good. I think people looking for a more simple farming game or a game with more story and linearity will like it. Sadly, there's just not a lot of variety in this game compared to other farming games and this can be a problem when getting in further into the game. Animals are great though and I love caring for them. Not sure whom I'm going to Marry though either. Also, I just want to say, it feels really weird being forced to marry. Feels too old fashioned and too quick. Still, I'll be getting my kid soon and I'm interested to see how they grow.

Outside of this, I haven't played much else. Been too tired and down, and that's likely not going to change. I don't really have any plans for games. I may got back to PoOT and finish that up or maybe play Mineral Town again on my switch. While I enjoy A Wonder Life, I can't see myself playing many hours of it after my first or second year because it doesn't have much variety. I see it more like Animal Crossing and coming back to it from time to time (though I do this with many farming games lol). Also, I love SoS Mineral Town and have wanted to play again, but I want to beat PoOT again.

Maybe I'll play some Zelda Breath of the Wild. I really want to play it, but have lacked any motivation to do so. I honestly don't know what to play. Knowing me I'll likely just go back to games i know I like and redo them. Maybe, just maybe, I'll play Xenoblade or Trails again, or maybe a Final Fantasy. With how I'm feeling though, I just don't know.

Well, "later this year" ended up meaning "now", and I did a re-play of Psychonauts 2 over the last week. It is. SO MUCH easier to 100% that game with the QoL patch. I first played at launch and didn't have that and. Wow. Much much much better. I love this game so much. I'll probably go back to complete it ever couple years the same way I do the original Spyro games.

Now, AWL is here! I'm having fun, but we'll see how it pans out in the long-term. I have a lot of nostalgia for this game, but also I'm not sure I ever made it past Chapter 2, so.
Spoiler:
Right now I'm in the beginning of Summer Year 1, and I've been moving quickly. I've got all marriage candidates up to 6 hearts, and have their 4-heart events; with that done, I can focus on money-making until more cut-scenes become available in the fall. I've basically decided to avoid talking to Cecilia altogether until then to try and avoid accidentally raising her heart level. It's too easy to do.

I got the seed maker from Daryl on the last day of Spring. I've got a chicken & a rooster (here's hoping for some fertilized eggs soon), a sheep, and now the horse, to go along with my starting cow. I also have all the basic fruit trees in the ground, and the summer trees are giving me fruit. As money comes in, I've made the questionable decision to spend on fertilizer, to see if I can't get seeds up at least one rank before year 2 comes and I can start using the hybrid-making system.

Right now I'm trying to figure out whether to aim for going up the cow tiers, or going for the bigger purchases with the fertilizer maker and spreaders. I'll probably need to see how fast the money rolls in now that I've got various money-makers set up.

I actually long ago knew what my gaming milleu was, but once in a while, some other game breaks through. I can't resist going back to see if a really popular/highly-praised game that I KNOW I won't like will somehow actually manage to reach me.

It never does. ...
That's awesome that you've been gaming for so long! I'm just a few years behind you, starting in the later '80s. I first played on the NES. We had an Atari, too, but I didn't play much on it, as I was too young when it was the newest console we had. I didn't really mean to imply you didn't know your own taste - sorry if it came across that way. My own taste has changed a bit over the years, so I kind of expect it will continue to do so, but that doesn't mean that the same is true for others. Anyway, there's a lot that I don't "get" either (and I feel pretty similarly to you about environmental issues), but I always just assume the things that I don't get that vary from the majority are connected to being neurodivergent. I am definitely not suggesting this might be the same for you. I'm only bringing it up because different people's brains work in different ways and certain things work for/click for/make sense to some people and not so much for others. (And that may not be helpful in understanding what the appeal is, but there's nothing wrong with the appeal not being there even when the vast majority like it.) But, I do understand wanting to try things that everyone loves even though it doesn't seem to be your type of thing. Hopefully one of your future attempts will be a success! (And I hope that your extra social stress is over soon, too.)

---

I've played through Frog Detective 3. The Frog Detective games are very short, very silly adventure games. It's been a while since I played the first two, but I've enjoyed all of them. Again, they are very silly, but cute.

My backlog is down to 9 now, but I'm pretty sure the big steam summer sale starts tomorrow, so I'll probably end up picking up a game or two during it.

I THINK I'm getting near to finishing TotK. Done quite a bit since I last posted. Got most of the armor sets, most of the shrines, done most of the story...

My favorite accomplishment is fighting not one but TWO super bosses.
Spoiler:
King Gleeok. (Is there any other in this game...?) Found the one in the underground pretty early on, and just happened to find the island type where they spawn in the overworld not long ago. I think I was using it as a stop over on the way to a shrine and as the model popped in I got this... Oh hell, feeling.

STARTED with the one in the depths, because I looked it up and figured out that the TP hair was locked behind it, and I wanted it. Best hair of any Link incarnation to date. It's funny that Link is a farm boy in TP, because the hair is way too good for that. Especially when you compare to the others.

The OTHER King Gleeok I fought I was expecting them to be guarding another armor set I was hunting for, and it wasn't, but I didn't find that out until I KO'd the thing.

Pretty fun fight? Easier to cheese than Lynels, in my opinion. So long as you bullet time them to death. Even the final phase, if you bring them down before they go all the way up it's a cake walk. Honestly, the 5 Lynel fight in the depths is harder than a King Gleeok. I'll take that any day.
I also finished another dungeon. It was pretty good. I'd put it on par with a dungeon in the DS games. (Not Ocean King or Tower of Spirits, though. Not by a long shot.)
Spoiler:
Gerudo. I think the heat is what kept me out of the area, tbh. Honestly I still don't have level 2 protection against the sun.

As for the dungeon, the best thing about it was that it felt like a real dungeon. A linear, simple dungeon, but a dungeon! There was a weird thing where you could ascend into the boss room, though... Bug or design failure? I'm not sure. The boss doesn't trigger when you go up there. And I just found it easier to get to the area you need to go to finish the last puzzle by going up there.

Boss was fun. I'd put it on par with the Goron one, but below the Rito one. Zora is dead last on all counts. The story was also the best. I enjoyed the Goron one as much, but the Gerudo one felt tied in to the main plot better than any other, and defied expectations more.

As a side note, in the Japanese V/O Riju is called Ruji. Which is a revelation?
More shrine thoughts.
Spoiler:
STILL find nakey shrines my favorite... which is kinda weird. Never really thought I'd say that. (148-149 shrines in, at this point.) The rest have all been pretty forgettable. Like honestly, NO PUZZLE in the entirety of Tears of the Kingdom has stumped me more than puzzles in GENSHIN IMPACT. Let that sink in. If you've never played, or only played the early areas, the devs got good at making puzzles. In SOME cases, too good. To the point that players complained they were too hard. I ate it up. The puzzles in the summer area between regions last year were great.
Spent as much time as anything trying to upgrade special armor. Got another special weapon that I'll never get to use because it'll break. But don't worry once it breaks you can BUY another one. Because that's fun. That's how I want to spend MY time. Grinding for rare, breakable weapons.

I still just love seeing the BotW amiibo armor in this one. BotW having essentially microtransaction armor brought it down by at LEAST a whole point for me. INCREDIBLY cheap play when most of the chests in your game have gemstones in them. The models are really good, though.
Spoiler:
TP is my favorite, but OoT and Fierce Diety are not far behind. OoT fits in with the color scheme of the world better (and I love seeing Link look that different). If I had the luminous stone, I would upgrade the Link's Awakening armor, because the giant bobble head helmet is AMAZING.

If I could cosplay Fierce Diety without my weapon breaking, that would be it. Worth hunting Lynels for, even. But we all know how that goes. :)
I'll end with another "Easter egg"; spoiler only if you haven't finished a dungeon.
Spoiler:
Apparently your spirit buddies can get eaten by Like-Likes. Tulin got munched tonight. Poor kid.

I am highly considering picking up Ghost Trick this week... I have no idea how I haven't been spoiled on the game, considering how much chatter I've heard about it over the years. But I really wanna try it! And it'll be something really different to what I've played for the last month or two.

We also had an Atari 2600, and I played Breakout on it as a 3 or 4 year-old, but I considered that a bit too early (and insignificant) to call it my first gamer experience. I recall finding it interesting, but also stressful (I never had good reflexes or speed, lol.) and I definitely wasn't hooked on gaming by Atari. :)

I feel like I'm at a point where my taste is no longer changing. It's pretty cemented! I should know better than getting games like Unpacking, at this point, but I figure it's never about the game, it's about testing the borders of my personality, or something like that. As for my extra social anxiety...I sent an extremely long and honest text about 15 minutes ago, and as unpleasant as it was, I think it's the best way I could possibly have conveyed myself, so I'm satisfied. I must still anticipate an answer for at least 3 more hours (after which I can simply delete the whole thing and forget about it) but after that, I'm golden. At least on this specific source of stress, lol, and that's good enough for me!

I should probably assume outright that you already tried the demo of Ghost Trick. I downloaded it, but have not, as yet, tried it. I do love the writing of Ace Attorney, though, so I've really got to give GT a go. But I'm not feeling hurried to do so immediately. Will get to the demo eventually, then decide if I'm forking out the dough for it, or not.

Nah, I haven't played the demo, and I'm not 100% sure I'll bother? I'm going on the word of people I've talked to online and critics I've followed for years who all say it's one of those...rare, unique gems. And a streamer I follow is most likely gonna pick it up soon, so I'd like to play blind before watching someone else do that...

As for the demo, since you're not a HUGE puzzle game fan, I'd definitely say it's a good idea, just to see if the puzzles suit you, since the writing style is most likely something you're already familiar with.

Did another section of story in TotK. Didn't plan on it but I needed a break from exploring, there's a particular area that gave me eye strain...
Spoiler:
The big storm cloud. LEGITIMATELY disappointed with that whole place. I was SO sure it would be a final dungeon area, that the reason I kept getting struck by lightning for approaching it was because I wasn't supposed to go there, that there would be some 'clear the storm' quest before you storm the castle. :| Haaa...

It's SO bright and SO difficult to see in there that I had to just shut my eyes and put my head down for a minute. I don't know that anything has hurt my eyes like that before...

I did find A shrine in there, though, so I'm up to 150... very close... not 100% sure if it cuts off at 152, I just know that's the next heart container.
The story section I did...
Spoiler:
Storming Hyrule Castle. Helped that I'd already explored the place, so it went pretty fast. Having played other games in the series, "Puppet Zelda" was just...I wanna say unfortunate, but that sounds mean. I didn't like it. (The "I'm evil so I sound evil now" voice was the nail in the coffin for me...)

It COULD have worked had Ganondorf been written with a little nuance. Make him smart, politically savvy, try to infiltrate Rauru's inner circle. The Gerudo Sage could have been his attendant, who goes to meet Rauru and Co, grows a conscience and betrays him, something like that. (That would have been a two for one, exploring one of the most interesting untouched plot points.) And maybe then it would make the TINIEST bit of sense that an ancient evil can recreate Hyrule Castle in its heydey.

I think we could all see that..."And it's going to be your GRAVE MWAHAHAHA" line coming about ten miles off...
In ANY CASE, I should be able to knock out the ending either tomorrow or Saturday, depending on how much free time I have. Then it's on to something new! Or...Genshin!

I'll vouch for Ghost Trick. This is coming from someone who isn't into puzzles but begrudgingly solves them if the plot needs me to. The story/writing alone is worth a play. Missle is best boy.

----

Wasn't able to finish FFXVI like I wanted to. I TRIED. I think I just need one more solid session and I should be able polish it off. The plot feels like it's getting ready to wrap up and I have only one more skill upgrade to get in my wheel, so I think I'm right? My issue is that I told myself to stop doing the hunts to expedite the plot, but I couldn't help myself, fighting the superbosses is so much fun! I ended up marathoning all the ones I skipped and then kept on top of the rest that released as I played. Oh well, I'm almost done regardless. My poor husband is being such a good patient dude. Hopefully on Sunday I can get it done.

Yeah, definitely gotta try out the demo. I hate puzzles, lol. (Not all of them, maybe, but most.) But I love detective games, and I think Ace Attorney is amazingly well-constructed, so obviously it's a must-try, for me.

~

I just found out that tephra is a real thing. It's not a made-up name in Xenoblade, as I previously always assumed. Tephra Cave is the first dungeon-like area of the first Xenoblade game, and I always thought the name was odd, but a lot of JRPG names are bizarre, so I didn't think much of it. But now I know that tephra is the name for what pyroclasts (volcanic dust, basically, I guess) become when they settle on land.

So that must be intentional, then. Does that mean that Tephra Cave is an area that formed after the results of volcanic eruptions settled on land? But when you consider what the Bionis is, and what the Mechonis is...do volcanoes even exist in that universe? It's actually a very tiny world if we're comparing it to Earth. Even though the game makes the exploration feel vast, the Bionis itself is very small, for what is serving as a planet or world. The biggest guess among fans is that it's probably about the size of Japan. Japan is puny. That entire country is not quite as big as the single state of California, which itself is nearly three times smaller than my province. THREE Japans could fit within Ontario, which isn't even our largest province, let alone territory. (Of course, since I am Canadian, my perspective on size may be skewed. Canada is bloody HUGE.) On top of that, much of Bionis is not actually traversable, as only places like the foot, the thigh, the arm, the sword, etc, are flat enough for habitation, so it's even smaller than its overall size.

The world of XC1 is gorgeous and varied and fascinating and feels very large to explore, but in reality if you tried to figure out it's actual measurable size, it's quite small. The entire habitable areas might add up to a space no larger than the GTA...which stands for Greater Toronto Area, I must say, and NOT for Grand Theft Auto, thank you so much, Google!...and I don't know that any volcanoes exist there at all. But if not, then how does tephra exist?

Now it bothers me, lol. Why is that place called Tephra Cave? Is it a remnant of the [redacted]? Ugh, this is making me want to play Xenobade again. And I don't even like Tephra Cave! It's dark in there...

I decided to give the Pikmin 4 demo a try. I haven't played any of the Pikmin games except some of the first one back in the GameCube days. I didn't like it because it was very frustrating to me at that time so I never finished it. I was really surprised that I actually liked the demo. It was cute and pretty fun. Loved the how realistic the plants and things outside in the background looked too, like the giant caladiums for example. Don't know if I would want to buy it or not, but at least I don't feel like I wasted time and enjoyed the demo.

I have also been trying to shiny hunt again in Pokemon Violet. Not too lucky, but I am trying to save up Herbas for shiny sandwiches to increase my chances. I did come across a random shiny candle dog (I can't remember it's name, lol) wandering around. I also was finally able to get a shiny Gimmigoul, from someone else's raid. My goodness, the odds are nigh impossible on your own.

Pikmin games are really fun but I found the time limits in 3 quite stressy and the final trial was tense. What I really want is an exploration feature, and/or a focus on fruit collecting, without all the stressy bits. I haven't played the demo of 4 yet. I haven't even downloaded it. I don't know if DLing demos supports them in any way, or provides them with data that encourages them to give demos for more games, but I do like to support demos as much as I can. (Though I won't buy a game I don't really want just because it had a demo...I can't go that far in supporting them. Plus I don't know what actually encourages companies to make demos.)

Pikmin’s never really interested me, although I did play the Pokémon Go style version for a while.

I’ve been playing Pokémon Go quite a lot lately and I’m really enjoying it, although some of the research tasks drive me crazy. Mainly the ones where they ask you to make a certain number of throws, especially in a row. You wouldn’t think I’d be just as much of a « Puppy Doodoo » shot in this game as I am irl, but I am. Especially when it comes to curveball throws. They are an absolute nightmare.

Speaking of Pokémon, I recently started a new save file of Pokémon X. I dugout my 2DS that I’d put away. I still have my 3DS but the battery no longer lasts as much as it used to so I have to use my charger. Which isn’t much use if I want to take it to work with me. Ugh, I’d forgotten how much Shauna annoys me.

Still playing ACNH on the Switch. Both islands are at three stars, I’m now working on getting them up to five.

So an unexpected development has occurred: my kids are in love with the Pikmin 4 demo. :o They watched me play through it and were all sad when it was done. My second daughter wanted to play her own run through it, and she really didn't have any trouble. Then today when I just got sick of shiny hunting and leaving the Switch on pause I asked the kids if they wanted to watch something. My oldest daughter turned down her pick of shows and pulled up the Switch input on the TV, asking to play a game. (Though for her that usually means she wants to watch someone else play, as she likes watching better than playing games when she's in the mood. I know she's not the only one, or streamers wouldn't be a thing, lol.) I went ahead and pulled up the Switch menu and asked what game and she went straight for the Pikmin 4 demo! She loves it! So we started it yet again with her profile and let her choose what her character was like. She was pumped! I don't know if I have seen her this excited about a particular game since Animal Parade. Usually games are take it or leave it for her, as she prefers active and outdoor activities, but she enjoys puzzle and farm games when she's in the mood. (She's quite the the backseat driver for games like Tetris, I tell ya.)

I wasn't planning to get it but if even she is so hard core about it, maybe I should get it for them for Christmas or something, I don't know, lol!

I was very on the fence about Pikmin 4. Then I played the demo and fell in love. I've played the other 3 and like Kikki became stressed with the time elements. I just restarted Pikmin 3 and I still have some trouble with splitting the team, getting lost etc but it's good.

Pikmin 4 has a lot of QoL changes that, for me, are making the game much more enjoyable. The gameplay feels cleaner, if that makes any sense. Visually it is stunning. And it's so damn cute!

That's so adorable, greensara. :) It must be really nice to have a game so many in the house enjoy and want to play. Gaming is one of the better memories I have of my time with my sibling growing up, so it's nice to hear stories of kids getting something similar. Even if your girls don't play together much, it'll be something nice and fun to share.

And that's TotK! Console says 150 hours, which sounds about right. More than I put into BotW, but less than Elden Ring. Arguably a smaller game, though... As of right now I think I'd put it at a 7/10. The highs are really high, but the lows are really low. (Skyward Sword syndrome?) And a lot of what I found to be the game's lowest points were things that the developers had more than 6 years to fix. Some of them I'm all but sure they put NO effort into. Others got paper bandaids.

Final boss/ending spoilers...
Spoiler:
MOST of the end sequence was pretty great. The area you enter to get to the final boss, waaay early on when I was mapping the depths, I thought there MUST have been a way to get to the lightroot under Hyrule Castle through there, that maybe it was an enormous mine or something. So it was nice going back.

For the boss it legitimately feels like the devs took pointers from Hyrule Warriors. I didn't play either game, but I watched a fair bit of the BotW one, and it gave BIG Hyrule Warriors vibes.

Can't speak to the first Ganondorf phase, I fury rushed him down. (Which is strange because I had a lot of trouble pulling fury rushes off the rest of the game, but I just kept triggering them back to back there.) I got quite a few in the second phase, but because of him suddenly gaining the ability to fury rush YOU, I didn't get to KO him that way. (NO idea how you're supposed to do that phase, I got sick of losing health semi-permanently and just ran around and sniped him with Gibdo bones.)

Final phase is great in theory, but in the end I found it worse than pig in a field, because it took so long. I REALLY want to see speedruns of this game, because there's SO much to the final boss, and it requires SO much equipment. People who reeeally know what they're doing are something else. I don't like the combat enough to learn it, personally.

Ending sequence was also way better than BotW. Saving/reviving Zelda feels justified here in a way it didn't in BotW. BotW Zelda was just flailing about randomly, doing things because she was told to. In TotK she's acting of her own volition. Probably my favorite Mary Sue in media now! ACTUALLY teared up a little bit at the end. (It was a very nice touch to have the pair fall into the pond you dive into out of the tutorial, too. Cheesy, but in a way I like.)

NO idea if I got the "true ending". Just like BotW it's so ambiguous, so I...??? I got an extra scene after credits, so maybe? If not I'm sure the streamer I'm watching play through the game will get it, he's quite a bit behind me in terms of how far along he is, so there's time.

General thoughts (also spoilers)...
Spoiler:
I think in terms of exploration, just the pure satisfaction of losing yourself in going and doing, new thing on the horizon, piece of candy, TotK is the best open world game I've ever played. It DID NOT have the visual spectacle of Elden Ring, and even it lost my interest in say caving after a while, and toward the end the depths really started to get on my nerves, but... comparatively, TotK is better. The one thing I prefer about Elden Ring is the way it reveals its map. That was a mind boggling spectacle the whole way through. (Elden Ring, you don't know exactly how big the game is going in. Your map is tiny, and you reveal more parts of it as you FIND more parts of it. So you don't REALLY have any idea how big the game is, and that not knowing is part of what makes exploration compelling. You just get on your magical horse, and GO.)

Combat was still a button mashy numbers game. (Nintendo added more numbers, bigger numbers do little to change my opinion.) I was kind of a baby gamer back when BotW came out so for the most part I avoided hard fights, only touching the big name monsters when a quest demanded it. This time I went out of my way to try a little bit of everything. For the most part... Shrug. I don't enjoy combat that makes me grind, for materials to fight with, for materials to upgrade my weapons/armor. (Weapons/armor is far less of an issue if it's PERMANENT. Upgrading weapons that break is MISERABLE. Especially since parts used for weapons are ALL used for upgrading armor.) Poor choice there, in my opinion. Making players who need extra help choose between attack and defense is not fun. (Also, getting one shot late game is also « Cow Poopoo ». It's still « Cow Poopoo » early game, but more...expected?)

It's entirely possible the controls are a part of my complaints with combat... they're bad. Can't really say how much.

The biggest improvement (imo) was the story boss fights. Except for the Zora boss, they felt both mechanically relevant and fun. I don't care how easy the Rito boss was, it was fun to crush. I wish the end fight had mimiced that a little more (in the gliding aspect, that is).

I DO NOT LIKE how the game handled continuity. I understand now that there are SOME things that are only imported in if you have a BotW save on the Switch you are currently playing TotK on, for the game to draw from. And I'm torn on that. Because I see the logic, but what about WiiU owners, and what about people who don't own the same Switch? BotW was SIX YEARS ago, Nintendo. It is VERY simple to allow players to just input whether or not they played, and if you're feeling spicy, let them tell you the choices they made, the quests they did. Games have been doing this for...more than a decade now? Well before BotW came out, for sure. Or just pick a canon like other games do, and go with it. Playing a direct sequel has consequences, whether it's for new players or old. Nintendo just chose old.

Shrines, I think were better in BotW. Not by a huge margin, but overall...yeah. The "Test of Strength" and the motion control puzzles were way worse, but the rest...yeah. I did all shrines, and did not get stumped by any puzzle. I don't want to count, but I'm also really curious what the total "Blessing" shrines were this time. I'd guess it made up the entirety of the extras, so at LEAST the 32 sky shrines worth. Maybe Nintendo just overreached. It's a shame.

It's funny, there's this series of review/critiques of the older LoZ games (the series is older) that I've watched a number of times, and the author talks about in reference to Twilight Princess, that the game came out more polished because it was SO heavily reliant on its source material (Ocarina of Time). I felt that a lot here too. It wasn't 1:1 OoT like TP is, more a mix of OoT and BotW, with touches of other Zelda games here and there. But yeah, rather than a sequel it felt like a second pass. For better and worse.

I found erasure of Sheikah irritating (actually, the whole Yiga sub plot is probably the only instance of completely screwing over new players because they have ZERO context for the Yiga Clan), but the worst bit was again the lost potential of the story.

Ganondorf spends the WHOLE story underground, and unlike BotW, he has NO reason to. Nintendo just couldn't think up a good reason for it, so they didn't.

And again, the best parts of the story happen out of sight, out of mind. Ganondorf gets ZERO character development (zero character, really), and neither do the sages. I honestly don't have any good plot ideas for any of them other than the Gerudo one. The LEAST the devs could have done was have it mimic OoT. Honestly...thinking on it, except for Zelda everybody in the whole game is pretty static. She doesn't get a LOT, but compared to nothing it's striking.

I think I keep waiting/hoping for something more like Majora's Mask, or at least Midna, to come up in a Zelda game again. But very few devs from when either game was developed are still around, and even those who are, it's been a long time.

Overall, BotW didn't mean as much to me as it did to others. What it meant mostly was an escape. The game came out less than a week before a very very dear friend of my family died of cancer. The one time in my life I've gotten blackout drunk was surviving his wake. (I kept crying, people got uncomfortable, so I found a way to stop it.) So the game has a very unique sense of nostalgia for me, same as Trio does. I was surprised at how clear my memory of the world was, how easily I was able to find things.

There's enough good about the "new Zelda formula" that I can let go of what I want for the series, I think. There's a lot of very good, older games that I'll always be able to go back to, after all. And just like TotK, I'll just focus on what I DO enjoy, and leave the rest behind.
Many, many words behind those spoiler tags. Woof. Glad to have gotten my thoughts out, though. I think if the guaranteed DLC looks tempting enough I'd be interested to go back and clean up some of what I missed, but until then I need a break. :D A la Elden Ring. Make me wanna play more, devs. I'll do it.

Kinda think I may pick up Ghost Trick tomorrow, as it's still on minor/early purchase sale on Green Man Gaming. I'll take the few bucks off. I'm really looking to play something different, and this might be my last chance to go in blind.
