booted up my game today, played around for a good 5 minutes and tried to save in front of the blackjack game. my game refused to save after considerable time, i had to turn off my game because it crashed and unsurprisingly, my save data was gone.
my question is, why did it crash in the first place? i’d like to know why i couldn’t save if anyone knows.

I don't think anyone will know the exact cause. It is well known to be a buggy game. For whatever reason, your game ran one of the lines in the code that result in a freeze, and there are a few dozen of those.

Unfortunately, the Harvest Sprite tree is known to be glitchy. I’ve heard a few times that people’s files got corrupted that way, as well as saving on any screen that has moving objects. I don’t know for sure why this happens, but try to never save in the Harvest Sprite tree, never save in the mine on any floors that still have live enemies, etc and that’s worked for me.
