HG purple heart event

I have completed the requirements for the HG: purple heart event in the game (at this point i have practically finished the game). I also have the version where i can ship the buckwheat flour, but the purple heart event is not triggering.
Am i supposed to catch all the types of fish including the special fish? I am so confused and frustrated.

I suspect the problem is the fish. It's not 10,000 small/medium/big fish. It's 10,000 of a specific type of fish, like Herring, or Loach. Easiest done with a fish that's available all year. I'm also trying to trigger it while waiting for year 5 when I can get the Witch Princess' purple heart event. 85% of the way there, going for Herrings.

I have 10000 of the Horse Mackrel, but that is what has been caught, do they have to have also been shipped? Because i have probably used a few for cooking in which case i need to catch several many more.

Does it matter that i used the sprites to catch the majority of the fish? Are you supposed to have physically done it yourself? Because that feels ridiculous…

Did you get an event where the HG appeared and congratulated you for catching 10,000 Horse Mackerel? If the last few fishes of that got caught by the sprites, it could be that you just need to manually catch one more.

I moved away from using the sprites for catching fish to reduce the risk of them getting me way too much money.

It worked! You have to catch one of the particular fish in order to trigger the events.
