Harvest Moon DS Serial
I’m sorry, I know this is an overasked question, but I’m getting conflicting answers online!
I know I’m looking for 1J - but do I want 1J22 or 1J34?
I’ve read both that 1J34 is the most fixed (has the Buckwheat Flour and Choker fix), and that it’s also **less** fixed than 1J22 and can corrupt.
Similarly, I’ve read that 1J22 is the most fixed, and yet doesn’t have the Buckwheat Flour or Choker fix?
Which is true? 1J34 can’t both be more fixed and less fixed than 1J22 at the same time D:

1J34 is a later edition, so to speak, and the most fixed. But any version can get corrupted files. From what I've read in the forums, there's a number of code lines that doesn't lead anywhere, and leads to the game freezing or the file corrupting.
I think that you also might be mixing up the 0J22 and 1J22 versions. 0J22 has the buckwheat and choker issue, while in 1J22 they're fixed.
I might add that the European versions are later still, and can still corrupt or freeze for no obvious reason, though movement on screen while trying to save is one big source of file corruption.

Thank you for the reply! But I’m definitely not getting confused - I’ve seen comments on Reddit saying specifically that *only* 1J34 fixes the Buckwheat and Choker glitches - but then I’ve seen comments also saying that 1J22 is the “most fixed” and 1J34 was actually made worse somehow.
Again, I’m getting very mixed answers from Googling, so wanted to check if anyone who owns either copy can tell me what’s actually true haha.

If you look at the intro post for the stickied thread about wooing the Witch Princess, there were other versions too that had the buckwheat and choker issues fixed. The point for that appears to be when they moved from 0J to 1J in the version numbering, even if the intro post doesn't include the 1J22 and 1J34 versions.
I've read through that thread, (more than once, I might add) and there's plenty of discussion there about how to discern if one has a version that can get the WP's purple heart event without having to wait until after the Harvest Festival year 5 to find out if the game counted the killed animals or not. The buckwheat and choker issues is frequently mentioned as two of the ways to discern it. The absence of the milker glitch, the one when any animal that could be brushed could also be milked if being fast enough, is another indicator.
It would be difficult to get reliable statistics, which seems to be what you're looking for. To be able to reliably discern which of the 1J22 and 1J34 is the more fixed or better version, I would think that one person (preferrably several people) has to have played both versions extensively, and taken note of each glitch and mishap. Otherwise I'd say it's down to personal perception based on expectations. One person with 1J34 who expects no problems and encountering glitches would be more negative than one with 1J22 who got it as an exchange for an 0J version and finding there's a lot less problems than they originally had.
Unless those comments on Reddit comes from people who's gone in and looked at the code and taken note on how many messed-up lines each game has that ends in the game freezing or the file to corrupt. That would be numbers that can't be affected by player activities and expectations.
