I believe Yoshi P or someone on the team at least has commented before about making the game solo play. It was something along the lines of while they are pleased to offer solo content, the spirit of the game is to be an MMO and they do not intend to get rid of the multiplayer aspect entirely in favor of solo play. So while old content is becoming increasingly soloable, there's still outliers as you pointed out, like 24-man raids. And of course new content will have minimal solo options compared to ARR/HW/SB, etc.
That being said, you COULD cheese a 24-man raid. It requires you and 2 other people to set up a party finder (you need 2 others because there has to be at least 1 person in each group). I've ran through LotA a few times this way back in the day.
Also, thanks for the comment on my glam lol. It's actually my generic glam that I keep around (I have a couple of them, actually) when I can't think of anything good to use that's tailored specifically to that job. Your fella is quite the looker, all tall dark and mysterious. That pagos top I've used in several outfits in the past. It's a great glam item.

The shirt Shade is wearing there is the same model as Pagos, from what I've looked at, but that specific piece is from Haukke Manor, which is why I can't dye it a more appropriate colour. Which is why all my other clothes were chosen...because the colours looked like they coordinated. I should go with grey or black instead, that'd go, too. I should just go make the Pagos shirt and then I CAN dye it.ryume wrote: ↑Jan 23, 2024 11:34 amAlso, thanks for the comment on my glam lol. I saw people saying that elezen models are too gangly and clothes look lumpen on them, and that they're ugly (WHAT?!) and I saw that the stats supported that people don't really want to play Duskwights in particular, and that made me obstinate, lol. "I'll show you!" I made him nice and dark AND as tall as the meter would allow, lol. Then I decided he might as well have white hair and purple eyes like Sanjay, but that's just cuz I like Sanjay.

I tell you, doing the Hildibrand quests with a character that looked like that was skin-crawling. Watching him do that monkey dance...! (My lad looks like his face might shatter if he so much as smiled, so you can imagine how unnatural it was, lol.)

I am officially taking a break from art! And I'm so happy. My illustrations these days have been getting...out of hand. (In both the time they take and the number of layers they've ballooned to.) Just finished one, so it's breather time. Actually finish the book I'm reading, go back to editing my own book, and play more games!
I've started Portal: Revolution, and it's really good! The voice work can't compare to GLaDOS or Wheatley, of course, but even it's pretty good. You can feel how much the devs love their source material. (Honestly...was not expecting a full story. It was a nice surprise!) Puzzles are good as expected. They don't lead the player quite as well as Valve's puzzles, but that's my only quibble. (Some of puzzle games for me is getting used to figuring out how the puzzle maker gives hints.) Last couple of puzzles in chapter 1 already stumped me a bit. At this rate, I imagine I'll end up needing a guide for hints later....
Still plugging away at Sandrock. Piddling with building, designing my house on top of everything else. I don't want to go completely crazy, so I have more to focus on for playthrough 2, but it's fun. I do really wish there were more things you could put on shelves, though... That disappoints me. Hopefully that's something that can be fixed somewhat for the next game. Even the way bookshelves work. It's not as if there's an animation for your character taking a book off of a shelf; I'd love if they'd have fudged it a bit and say...for a storage case that has four slots, putting one book on it fills up half of one shelf with a set 'chunk' of books. That way you can kind of mix and match, and it still ends up looking more like the models the NPCs have. (Why is your spice rack empty?! Why can't you put anything on it? Gah!)
...Speaking of which. ONE more complaint. I wish we could have access to the hairstyles of more of the NPCs! I'm sure some of them wouldn't work because their models are so different to your own, but some of the models are EXACTLY the same as the player. (And there's no excuse of 'combat', with the combat festival being a thing.) I appreciate the variety on offer, but I don't use half of it because it's either spikey or has a partially shaved head. D: At least letting us unlock NPC hair would be variety. Yes, you could basically cosplay as the NPC, but who cares? It's not a competitive multiplayer game, or an MMO. Use what you've got, Pathea!
Did finally get my character dating. Legitimately expected to see at least ONE confession scene before now, you really have to go out of your way to flirt to get their attention in this game. One more thing for playthrough 2?
I assume townies will have dialogue for when your character gets married, at least. Probably just...too much extra dialogue for dating. I don't mind it not being voiced, I was just hoping that characters in the 'social network' would acknowledge the change.

It's funny that you should mention this at exactly this timing. The last thing I did last night before bed was locate my 3DSes to charge them and check my Trio files on them. I thought I was just about to marry my farmer to Yuzuki in one and wanted to see exactly where I left off. I'm sure I remember having, in my most recent play, ridiculous levels of trouble triggering one of his events because it wouldn't rain.
I turned out to be wrong. Somehow I DID have one where the farmer was engaged and about to be married in just a few days, but it was to Ludus. I have no recollection of that, lol.
But the thing is, in the minute or two I looked around in that file, Lulukoko villagers I talked to were all giving out congratulations and encouragement about your upcoming wedding. Even little Tigre congratulates you and says he thinks you'll be "at least as good a married couple as Caolila and Zahau". (I think he means this as a compliment. They're both very powerful people and Tigre admires strength, so that's how I'm interpreting it.)
Trio's really good for having situational dialogue. Even people from other towns congratulate you, though they act like they don't know who your intended is. (Which is weird given how much connection there is between the three towns.)
I'm going to start a new file anyway. The fun is always in the building up, not in the end-game.

Been tinkin' and tinkin' about it, but I'm probably going to just give up on FFXIV (again). It can't ever really be soloable even when they eventually figure out how to let the team of NPCs cover the Trials, and even just being unable to clear the blue+ quests from my map drives me batty, as does being unable to rank up in my Grand Company. And I can't remember how to sort all the chaos in Crystal Tower. Get on the green platforms, okay. Kill the mobs first and each on different spots, then kill the boss in the middle and be prepared to do that one or two more times for the entire lot of them, er...okay. Heal a sentient pot before it is dragged to the boss...um, what? Make sure everyone runs to a certain platform to raise a shield at the right time, and don't forget to do lots of damage while you watch the floor for attack patterns...uh, yeah, I'm lost now. I can't even keep track of what's going on screen, there's too much visual noise. Lights and explosions and patterns and movements...my brain can't even process what my eyes are seeing.
Let's leave the the multiplayer game to the, er...multiplayers. It's their game. I was just taking a tour. Thanks for the peek; I like your world and your hero a lot, but I will go back to Animal Crossing now. (I'd say Bokumono, but that was never a meme!)
~
EDIT: Oh, forgot. I did get one confession quite early on, Mikodesu! Totally surprised me, didn't even know I'd had my character flirting, I just liked the responses. (That's always who I tend to go for...whatever character says the best things and allows MY character to have responses I can respect. Won't go for anyone who forces me to say cringy things to win them over!)Won't say who in case you don't wanna know, but 'reverse' confessions are a thing for some characters, at least. That's the character I'm gonna marry on my second go, though. After thoroughly using another character first, that is! :D
~
EDIT 2: Just thought of this. Know what would have been nice? I'd like to be able to go to the Crystal Tower (or any other dungeon or battle or other party-required situation) and see the option to pay, say, $2.99 to watch the cutscene and receive an automatic quest completion at the end of it. Just...pay to skip the multiplayer, but without skipping any story! Each instance could be separate...every time you come to a battle you're just not up to, pay to complete it. I'd be cool with that. Saying that might be complete sacrilege, but it would keep me...with this brain that can't communicate with my fingers...out of everyone's way, but would still let me progress the story and provide at least a little financial support for the creators/the system. I guess that must be too outrageous a thing. Maybe it's outright blasphemous, I dunno, lol. Oh well! I'll just accept reality and move on, that's what.

(Alternately, they could turn each section of the game into one of a series of offline games. I'd buy them all even if each one was full AAA game prices. Then no need to cater to single-players within the online game at all.)

Lol, here's Kuro. He's probably wearing something silly because if I'm not doing MSQ, it's silly glam time.

Alright, I've put a solid 10 hours into Monochrome Mobius and I cannot with the pace of this game any more. I don't understand why they didn't make it another Utawarerumono game, where the combat is engaging and fun but also a nice break from long VN segments. I can't really bring myself to give a damn about these characters as teenagers, especially since I already know how it all ends minus the new addition that I also can't seem to care about. I feel like I'm obligated to like this game or something because I adore the trilogy it's spun off from, but I'm 10 hours in and I want to quit. I'm not having fun. The gameplay is insanely boring and needs a speed up function. The story is a slog and in knowing how it ends already isn't really giving me much motivation to continue. These little nods and cameos are fun and all, but I'm not so deep into this franchise that I need to know all this extra lore. I just.... ugh, how could you make something so unfun from such a fun series??? I'm dropping it, I have better ways to spend my days off than force myself through this. What a disappointment.
And speaking of disappointment, NieR Reincarnation is going EoS in April of this year. I knew this was coming sooner or later, Square Enix loves axing their mobile games, but this one was really special. Battle system aside, the story, characters, music, and setting was so fantastic. I'm having a hard time believing Yoko Taro is just gonna let it go after all the effort he put into it, but we'll just have to wait and see. Besides the game, there's tons of official merch for it (not to mention, Mama is an obtainable minion in FFXIV) It became canon to the NieR timeline only recently so I feels like we're building up to... something. Still, I'm going to miss it. It's the only game I have on my phone and I spent a lot of time with it (thankfully only spent around 70 bucks on it overall). Siiiiigh, I really wanted a Rion figure or statue eventually. At least Fio got a nendoroid, which I own.
I'm a little stuck on what to play next. Genshin has Lunar New Year soon and Star Rail will be getting its next expansion soon too, and I'm looking forward to them. In the meantime, I'm either going to start Muv Luv, start replaying Toukiden Kiwami, or go in deep on Warframe. Man my Switch is so neglected these days.

Iirc, you said something pretty early on in your playthrough about getting all but jumpscared with a confession from Qi. If my memory does still serve.Kikki wrote: ↑Jan 24, 2024 4:22 amEDIT: Oh, forgot. I did get one confession quite early on, Mikodesu! But then, my idea of reverse confessions are based on Marvelous games. ('Sir or Madame, please follow me to the appropriate backdrop for me to say words at you.') Not that that's bad, but Sandrock goes ABOVE and beyond--for some characters, at least. Which, to that end, I do like that the sequence of events is so natural? From the one I've seen. Really sets a new standard going forward.
--
And as it turns out, I'm also a little bit sick! The last three or four days I've had chills off and on, and had been assuming that my hubris got the best of me--make a statement about never being cold, and all the sudden you're cold. Today it was considerably warmer than it should be this time of year, and I was inside, in a sweatshirt, shivering. This tells me all I need to know. I was wondering why I had been more sinusy than usual... Chronic seasonal allergies makes that a little hard to gauge.
So I took most of the night off. Did another chapter in Portal: Revolution. Quality is still high, devs are doing surprisingly well exploring new types of puzzles with the same tools as the old games. It is ALSO still a little obtuse. Got REALLY stumped on the last puzzle in this chapter, got REALLY close to looking it up. Guaranteed that is in my near future.
Sandrock is still fun. Probably going to play around with factory building soon. Good activity to spend my time with. Gotta learn somehow.
The biggest surprise of the night was meeting Jane.

I'll be brief: You can't take it off. Not unless you use a mod. Lots of others feel as you do and made one to remove the offending item, which I also think is stupid-looking. (EDIT: There is one caveat to that 'no', but I can't expound without risk of spoiling some content.)
Hey, look at that...I was actually brief.

Restarted Trio. Still in the nothing-to-do first two weeks. Nice to hold the 3DS again. I'd love to find a way to play Trio differently this time. Not sure if that's possible, but we'll see.

PATHEA ALLOWS MODS!? That's amazing to know. Thank you, Kikki!
In the above case, I just don't understand why the devs would go to ALL of that effort to model and texture something that you (basically) never get to see. I can imagine what the general caveats are, at least. (I'd also kinda love it if for the next game they go in the Animal Crossing direction. Let us dress up the townies we're close to? Shouldn't be impossible, considering range of body types DLC clothing works on. Fingers crossed.)
Sandrock is the game that keeps on giving? Except for...maybe the hat mod, I'm gonna leave mods for playthrough 2. Betting some of them would dip into spoiler territory... Makes me really curious, though.

You're welcome.

Here is the mod to adjust that character's appearance. Just in case you don't want to wade through the mods yourself. I didn't use this myself, mind you! Sandrock got pretty bogged down on Steam Deck in the latter half...I don't know if it could have handled mods gracefully. Plus I never did manage to get mods working on it anyway, for Stardew either. *shrug* Full-blown PC's probably not an issue.

Might have to wait a while for mods to be doable on Steam Deck. :/ Pathea is diligently chugging away on updates, but they've got a lot to work on. There's still a big content update set for February or March, iirc? There have been a couple of bug fix updates since you finished your playthrough, though. Maaaaybe by the time you're ready for your second playthrough, and for all the time it takes to get back to that point, anyway.
Rather than look at Sandrock mods, I ended up looking at Portia mods! There's actually quite a few. (More than I expected.) Some upgrading the visuals--saturating the world, updating textures for NPCs. One lets you build stuff wherever you want! That I can imagine would start to bog the game down if you went overboard, but it sounds fun?
That does remind me... fatal flaw of the My Time games...where are my glasses, Pathea?! There's a couple of glasses mods for Portia (I forgot there even were sunglasses in that game). I've yet to even come across sunglasses in Sandrock--which is strange, for a game set in the desert.

I've never managed to get mods working on Steam Deck at all. I got them downloaded but I don't think I got the extracted files to where they had to go, or something like that. It was hard to even find where anything was with the Deck set-up. I don't really mind, though. Stardew could practically be played on a calculator, so my laptop was adequate and that's easy to set up mods on. Stardew's the only game I have where the mods are, imo, necessary. (I don't enjoy the game without them.)

Not sure if anyone likes glasses enough to play an entire game just for them, though. But there should be a good selection of them in any game, imo.
Did you happen to see ryume's FFXIV character a few posts back? It was the second-last post on page 6, I think. She may have changed it since then (the picture updates to whatever your character currently looks like) but she was looking super cute in some big black frames when I first saw her. I think you'd like the character creation and the in-game customizations. Though I don't know that you play multiplayer games. (The MSQ is mostly solo play, but not entirely.) Not that I know if you'd like the game as a whole, either, I just know there are some pretty cute glasses to be had once you're in the gameMikodesu wrote: ↑Jan 25, 2024 1:49 pmThat does remind me... fatal flaw of the My Time games...where are my glasses, Pathea?! Mods may take more software side fiddling than you're comfortable with... and I don't blame you AT ALL. Even having some programming experience, I don't like fiddling with the software in not-exactly-cheap, specialized hardware. For sure it can be done, if full fat Windows and emulators run on the thing. Trouble is...how much trouble it is.
I did see ryume's character!
In one way or another all of your characters were very cute, very fitting? FFXIV is kind of amazing for that. Not customizable to the point of making a misshapen lump of flesh, but there's so much love put into everyone's characters. (I've watched artists draw commissions of FFXIV characters more than once.)
FFXIV is one of those I've always been curious about but never brave enough to jump in. If it had been around when my friends and I were playing multiplayer games I'd almost certainly still be playing. (Tldr they grew out of games in general, I found FOGU for a group of adults who also hadn't.
) I also think I'd be more interested in multiplayer if I could play with grownups. You've got a better shot with FFXIV than probably anything in the 'free to play' space, but then I run into the same problem you have--not wanting to burden anyone with my newness. If they ever get bots worked out, at least to the point where you can practice raids with them (for anybody who has never touched hotbar combat, or hasn't in a decade), then I'd be happy to jump in.
If anything it's popular enough that I don't think there's a worry one about it going anywhere ANY time soon.
The My Time games have a distinct lack of facial accessories in general, for whatever reason. (We don't even get access to the face masks some characters wear in sandstorms?) Edit: The gold standard for street clothes (probably clothes in general with patterns) still has to be Animal Crossing. But full character, I dunno. Even the Souls series does decently with that. Guess it depends on what you want to do with them. And as a glasses wearer, glasses aren't required for any game, but...it adds appeal for me. Makes me more likely to give it a try. (The "can you pet the dog?" of customization.) In Sandrock's case, I'd be happy with one or two frames. Round and square, even. Recolor the frames, tint the lenses, and you can have glasses and sunglasses. Two for one. Even if they don't like glasses, surely most people like sunglasses?

The bots are worked out for 4-man dungeons, which means you can finish all of ARR up to the credits rolling, though not including the transition stuff between ARR and Heavensward. That's where the 8 man trials (just boss battles, no dungeons) start, and they aren't worked out yet, and I personally think they'll never do AI NPCs for the 24-man raid. (I think there's only one such instance actually required to progress the MSQ.)Mikodesu wrote: ↑Jan 25, 2024 5:49 pmFFXIV is one of those I've always been curious about but never brave enough to jump in. If you're doing all the sidequests, you can play for a month solid, at least, before getting through the main ARR content, and you can run MSQ dungeons with your NPC buddies, and it's probably enough to get a good idea of how things work and gauge your potential. You'll level up to 50 (my summoner was actually level 57 because I did too many sidequests with the same character...should have left more of those for alts!) by the time you get to the ARR credits. Max level is 90 right now, so you do have quite a lot of your skills by 50.
With a new expansion coming this summer, no doubt the game is going to be around a long while yet, though I'm sure they'll stop supporting it on PS4 within a few years, like they did when it was on PS3. But you'd probably play on PC, so that's not really an issue for you.
It's fun to try, and no obligation to keep going if you don't jive. But, yeah...it seems like it'll be around for a long time if you hope to wait for the absolute maximum amount of things to be available to be done with NPCs rather than multiplayer, though it may never be 100%. Bluie'll probably let us know when that happens.

Ooooo I like that Gleaner glam you've got on your DNC. I haven't touched any of the custom delivery NPC's they've added since Endwalker was released, so I need to catch up lol.Bluie wrote: ↑Jan 24, 2024 3:20 pm Lol, here's Kuro. He's probably wearing something silly because if I'm not doing MSQ, it's silly glam time.

I wouldn't ever worry about being a burden, Miko (and Kikki). There's tons of sprouts every day who are experiencing content for the first time all the time and overall the community is generally pretty nice about it. Sure you get some grumpypants player who's been playing for a over a decade here and there (or someone who is just a jerk regardless of their FFXIV career length), but for the most part everyone just does what they're supposed to do and signs off with an "enjoy the story!" once the duty is complete. Usually a "hi, first time" and everyone's like ok cool, np. I end up in a roulette with a new person all the time who might die more than 2 or 3 times just because mechanics take time to learn and I don't blink an eye over it because at the end of the day it's NBD and part of the game's growing pains.

Is anyone else looking at Granblue Fantasy Relink? I played the demo and while combat is very smooth, I'm skeptical about the depth of the story and character development. I don't know much about the franchise, but its art style has always caught my eye and it sounds like the leap to consoles as an RPG might be good, but I just don't know. Likely going to wait for reviews on that one. Otherwise I'm not really playing anything console-wise at the moment, but next month that will change with FFVII Rebirth coming out.

Hi everyone!
It's been busy at work but not so busy that I must stop playing.
The good news is that I'm on the last leg of Act II in my BG 3 playthrough, I got some headway to some companion's personal quests, especially my Tav's relationship with her main LI.
I can't believe that I will be reaching Act III soon. It's bittersweet because I don't want it to end but I must carry on so that I could start my second playthrough with a Dark Urge origin. xD But will take a break from BG 3 before starting my second playthrough.
I am enjoying My Time at Sandrock now! It's nice to play something cozy after work hours. I'm currently at Autumn and unlocked farming! My Builder's relationship with Fang is progressing slowly. XD I can't wait for them to start dating soon though. lmao
