Marvelous has announced their 2nd showcase for May 30th 3PM PST/31st 7AM JST. To commemorate, Marvelous has also started a week long special sale in Japan with their games upto 80% off.
Spoiler:
English version of the broadcast has yet not been announced at the time of making this post but one can most likely expect news about it in a few hours. Last year, two upcoming Story of Seasons and Rune Factory games were announced so I would also safely assume it is going to include updates on them.
Drop your personal predictions on what they could possibly share to us this time around as well as some unrealistic wishes!
Edit:
English translated version of the broadcast has been announced by Marvelous USA and Europe.

I used to do that. The wishing and predicting thing, mostly on Nintendo Directs. But, I dunno. I don't feel like doing it, any more. It just stirs up hopes that inevitably get crushed, creating discontent rather than excitement, so...I don't want to. Basically, I figure they'll have updates on anything they showed before, but only slightly more footage than last time, and maybe a few clips of games they didn't show last time. Probably one of their games shown last time is significantly more developed now and maybe we'll get some actual gameplay footage for one of them.
I can't remember enough details about that Moonlight Peaks game. I know Xseed (Marvelous USA) is publishing it in North America, but I don't know if Marvelous is publishing it in other regions, or if this is an independent project for Xseed. So I'm not sure if that game will show up in it. I'm leaning toward 'no'.
I don't want to stir up any hopes, so that's it from me. I think this'll just be an update on what they showed last time, with at least one of the games in a much-closer-to-release state that they can show more of. Possibly they'll even have a release date (or window) for one or two of the games shown last time. I'm not willing to predict more than that. I'm surprised they're even doing another one.
I’m very excited and hoping for at least a decent amount of details on the new SoS and Rune Factory games. So, here are my thoughts:
1. The new main SoS game: I haven’t finished POoT; it wasn’t the best game, as everyone knows, so I don’t really have any expectations for this new game. But I can still be hopeful, right? One thing I am hoping for is the return of character portraits.
2. The multiplayer SoS game: How misleading do you think the artwork is? A few canon farmers (Kevin, Kasey, Holly, and Pete/Jack?) were featured, but what does that mean? Character customization has been a thing since A New Beginning, so I’m not sure if character customization will be an option in this game as well, or if we’ll be able to choose to play as a farmer from a previous game (maybe both?) I’m rooting for the latter, honestly. That being said, how many options can we expect? Seeing Kevin and Kasey gives me hope that we’ll be able to play as Molly and Angela as well, and so on.
As for gameplay features, I have ideas but will probably be disappointed? I’m thinking along the lines of SDV multiplayer—you can progress through the game alone and/or with friends. Of course I’m hoping for the normal features—particularly marriage. But I think I’ll be very surprised if marriage is actually an option in this game. If it is offered, who will the candidates be? I think I would expect them to be a mix of characters from former games.
3. Rune Factory 6: I already have way too many expectations for this game The title artwork alludes to the fact that the game will take place in the capital. I’ve only played RF3S, RF4S, and RF5, so I’m not familiar with all of the lore. Living in the capital sounds like a really grand thing, so I’m expecting grand features.
It feels like it's been ages since their last showcase, but I just checked and it's been almost exactly a year. A very long year.
I'm pretty sure they'll reveal the title and tentative release date for the next mainline SoS game - maybe releasing for the holiday season in Japan and spring 2025 for everyone else? Games seem to be announced closer to their release date nowadays. I think one of the Rune Factory games will also be announced, probably coming sometime next year. This is kind of interesting because I assumed they were waiting the Switch 2 or whatever it is Nintendo is doing to be announced - will these games be cross-platform or are they releasing a mainline game at the end of the console's life?
They also had a SoS multiplayer game in the works iirc. I kind of hope they scrapped it, honestly, I can't see them pulling it off and think it'd be a waste of resources for them to try.
I'd like to hear about the next remake, maybe having the title announced while it's still in preproduction - mostly because I really want it to be Animal Parade. Please let me play Animal Parade on my Switch.
(Also my wildcard theory is they'll announce a mobile game, only because Natsume just announced one lol)
I personally can't believe it's already been a year. Back then, I was really expecting Project Dragon to be released in early 2024.
I don't really want to expect much so I don't get disappointed but here are my personal predictions that I think are mostly safe:
Project Dragon officially gets announced with a release date and they will show the final protag and title art as well a proper gameplay trailer with the villagers and the town. Nothing about the 6 since they'd want the marketing to be solely focused on PD.
New Story of Seasons shows more footage and gets a title reveal but only reveals the protags and some of the farming/exploration scenes. Similar to how they teased Project Dragon a year ago.

Wait, really?
The existence of big cities has been alluded to since the first game (well, it'd be silly if there were no big cities anywhere in the world), and we've received various snippets of lore about the kingdom and its politics, with occasional cameos of Important People like princesses, but the actual games have always been set in remote rural villages, because, well, you're a farmer. Living in the big city doesn't feel like it would fit the series' tone. Yes, there's bound to be lots of interesting stuff going on in the capital, but that stuff doesn't seem like it would involve a lot of farming. Also, I question the ability of video game designers to actually portray a big city in a way that would live up to the grandeur that it's been implied to have when it's merely some far-off place that you hear about in stories. That's going to take more than the usual 10-20 quirky NPCs to befriend...

A while ago someone had suggested the capital as a possibility; I had to go back and look at the post before I remembered that mention of the capital was just speculation xD I was also wondering how farming would factor into life in the capital (unless you lived outside the capital?), but it would be quite fun to see such a concept played out.
The logo for RF6 is really interesting. All RF logos usually have something related to the game so I assume we will actually see a floating castle city. Ideally they could do something predictable such as the outer most area of the city being more rural so the farming scene could actually fit there. I assume RF6 will be a Switch 2 exclusive so I also really hope the castle city looks as gorgeous as the towns in Harvestella. I would be really happy to see a RF6 in-game teaser photo tomorrow but chances of that happening is probably zero.
They could also use the farming dragons if it took place in a city. Or go back to everyone’s favorite: the runey cave/dungeon farms from RFF. Full disclosure, I loved the runey system and was baffled that others found it difficult, but I may be the only one, lol.
But I kinda agree that a city might kill the vibe for me. On the other hand, Ys IX pulled it off, so maybe!
Very excited about the showcase! I’d be hyped for any Marvelous… except the multiplayer one.
Ooh, I haven’t played RFF so I’ll have to look it up. And being on the outskirts of a city sounds plausible. I’m reaaaaaaally hoping we’ll get some more info on the game in the showcase. It’s going to be so hard to wait all day
I feel like I’m the only one who’s excited about the multiplayer game xD I hope it’ll be good.
Like many, I'm keeping my expectations in check. Too many disappointments lately. I'm interested, but not excited, I guess. They're going to show what they're going to show. Only time will tell.
I have no interest in a multi-player game. I hope those who want one get it, but it's not for me.
I'm really burned out on speculation, ie Switch 2 etc.
It’s time, y’all :D I’m super excited (and hopefully won’t be disappointed). I’ll post my thoughts when the showcase is over.
Edit: Mmkay, I’m just gonna say at least we got a bit more information. The new SoS is looking very promising, and the female protagonist looks cute :D I can’t wait to hear more. I’m especially curious to find out about what the town will be like since it seems like you’re pretty “out there” in nature (which isn’t a bad thing; what we saw was beautiful, and I’m already looking forward to winter graphics)
I really thought we were gonna hear about RF6–especially with the way the other five games had been discussed—so I was kinda disappointed when Project Dragon was discussed instead. It looks interesting as well, and the new elements that were discussed are super cool :0 Maybe we’ll see bows in RF6 as well?
The directors kept asking for just a bit more patience, and it almost makes you feel bad xD
Edit 2: Wait, wait, also wasn’t lightning in Animal Parade? And ToT maybe? Lightning isn’t a new concept, even though it hasn’t been included in too many games, so I thought that was interesting.

I was already in bed watching YouTube so I thought I may as well watch and haha I guess that's confirmation developers are just waiting for the Switch 2 or whatever it is Nintendo is doing.
I'm really not feeling optimistic about the new SoS game. I don't trust when a game is hyped up based on graphics, especially in a genre where graphics really aren't the most important thing. It looked nice but most of the complaints about how recent SoS games have looked have been about aesthetics not graphical fidelity.
Actually, it looks kind of like Winds of Anthos, which made me laugh. Natsume and Marvelous are a two headed snake eating its own tail.
Project Dragon looks cute but I'm not sure if I'd play a Rune Factory game without farming... I don't even know how that'd work since so much of RF is about the farming -> crafting/cooking loop.
For the other games, the vampire indie farming game looked really nice but the release date is a loooong way off. And I don't understand what Farmagia is...
It was...a choice, to schedule their livestream/announcements at the exact same time as Sony's State of Play...
I fall into the "No gameplay, no hype" camp, so Project Dragon (and a little bit Moonlight Peaks) is leading the way for me. Combat in Project Dragon looks very Ni no Kuni 2, which isn't a bad thing. I'd rather better combat, but it's usually set dressing in these types of games, so that's fine. For me a buy or no buy is gonna depend on the rest of the game. What are the rest of the systems, how much grind is there? Fantasy Japan is incredibly overplayed, but it stands up as different compared to the rest of the franchise, so I'm here for it.
The new Story of Seasons game... pretty FMV, the rest is a wait and see. I passed on PoOT and RF5, and have no problem repeating that. Let's see what you're made of, Marvelous.
Yeah. I said this when they did the 2023 Showcase, but the fans did NOT want them to focus on graphics. Blah blah:
Spoiler:
Yes, the first initial uproar was about graphics. But that was before the game was released, when it was first revealed and the graphics were the only thing we knew anything about. Once we actually had PoOT in our hands, what was so disappointing was the content, the QoL, and the performance. Some of those issues were terrible. The graphics didn't perform well, but they LOOKED fine. Maybe a little too mobile-leaning for some, but not actually bad.
So I'm disappointed that they stuck with that and have been putting their main focus on how the game *looks* rather than how it *plays*. I want to hear about the harvest festival returning, and the animal festival. And all the other festivals that you can actually participate in, instead of festivals that are mere cutscenes that happen to have your avatar in them. I also hate that the only characters they showed were shown almost entirely from the back, but what glimpses we got of the front looked like young children.
The colours are nice, but I don't like how intensely cartoony it is. Bubbly cute kiddy cartoons are not my thing. But the quality seems to be there; I'm sure lots of people will love it.
All I remember about Farmagia is that the name is awful (we already knew that, though) and the character art is unappealing. (Dead eyes.) I particularly disliked that the female character is drawn with unrealistically enormous, over-emphasized breasts...in essentially a tube top with suspenders!...that swing around vigorously, as though unsupported, when she moves. I explained why once already and am not going to do it again, but I don't like when breasts are treated like objects of public entertainment or any kind of assessment.
Did they show any farming in that? It seemed more like an RPG than a farming game. Which is okay, but I don't get what it's about, yet. It felt like a new take on Rune Factory, I guess. Well, we should see more of that one soonish as it's the only one they gave a date for, even if it was just '2024'.
I've no opinion on the mobile stuff or the crane game (lol?) They're Japan-only anyway so I guess there's no reason to have an opinion.
Project Dragon looks like it might be okay? I didn't see enough to know, yet.
Well...it's nice that Marv has lots to work on, anyway. I'm pretty sure Marvelous and I have parted ways. I don't think I'm a fan, any more. Not their market. I'll have a look at these when there's more info but for now, I think that's where I land.
I'm happy for those who loved what they saw. I pass the torch on to you: you're the new generation of Bokumono fans.
