Yeah I've wanted to know what this is to. I saw someone banned for trolling. What is it though?

I think it is being nasty to other members...
ex. Swearing, making fun of a persons age/race/gender, or something like that...
Though I am not completely positive...

simple explanation of trolling.
starting off flame wars with a simple insult to others.
like setting spark to a pile of dry leaves. / adding oil to the fire. ..ect..ect

Exactly what Nina said. I'm not sure if anyone is familiar with the term trolling as applied to fishing but it's basically dragging a lure behind the boat until something bites. So yeah, baiting people with words and trying to get them to BITE just for the fun of it.
