Some people spell thanks like thx and Oh My Gosh like Omg but why?

Because it's short and faster to type.

Some people are annoyed by it, so I wouldn't recommend using it when posting. But it's okay if you use it in the chat.

I am one of those people annoyed by it. I dont see the problem just spelling correctly..

Well, I don't see a problem with typing in shorthand. I mean, you can understand it, right? Besides, there's no point in complaining about people's orthography not being perfect. Everyone makes mistakes. Look at your post. You spelled "don't" wrong.

It's not a big deal, really.

I don't mind some abbreviations like OMG, LOL, etc..., because really it would look silly if someone put "laughing out loud" instead of LOL. But when someone posts something like y r u doing tat it get's annoying fast. I usually don't even bother reading posts that are like that.

Oh and instead of lol, how about Hahaha? I rarely use netspeak, except on fast chat. Personally, I believe the practice of such speech impairs your real speech. Ever notice how people have mentioned mistakes they have made in school by using chat speak?
