There are 3 levels to the basement and you can plant stuff on each level all year long. There is a box that holds the season sun stones and if you want to plant an item that grows in the spring, you put a spring sun stone in the box and you can grow spring crops on that level of the basement all year long. If you want to plant a summer or fall crop then you need the summer or fall sun stones and you can grow them.
